Chapter 74: Action 4

**1–Delta’s camp, some hours earlier**

Aric was the Lord commander, so, as the students of 1–Delta finished arriving at their castle, he quickly organized everyone.

"I’m going to be honest with all of you." Aric’s voice reverberated as he amplified his voice with aether. "There is no way we’re winning against 1–Alpha."

"I’m well aware that most of you don’t agree with my words." Aric said looking at the reactions and expressions of discontent on the students’ face. "But I assure you it is in your best interest to accept that fact."

"The monsters in that class alone, are enough to win this shit." he continued.

"So here’s what we’re going to do. We’ll delay their victory as much as possible, and even then, we won’t let them have it easy."

The dissatisfaction on the students face gradually turned into resolve. Of course Aric noticed it, but didn’t comment on it.

"Geo, you will use your terrakinesis to build a fortress around the castle. I’ll need it to be as sturdy as possible." Aric looked to a relatively short individual.

"Yes." the boy nodded.

"And Lia," Aric turned to a petite girl this time. "Once Geo is done, you’ll fortify the entire structure with your crystal manipulation. I’ll need it to be as strong as you can possibly get it to be."

The students need Aric’s words without hesitation, and began to build the so called diamond fortress.

While that happened, Aric organized the rest into assault teams, and chose his vice commander and elites. Basically, his vice commander who had long ranged attacks would begin the attack from the top of the fortress, and when the enemy were scattered and in chaos, the rest of the fighters would engage.

As for Aric himself, he was going to try to steal 1–Alpha’s flag. Why 1–Alpha specifically? Because Aric was also arrogant in his own way. He couldn’t care less about 1–Beta.

In hindsight, trying to steal the flag of the relatively weaker 1–Beta, so that 1–Alpha doesn’t get it, should have been the probably choice.

---------------

"What the hell is this?" Calum cursed as the group stared at the crystal coated fortress.

But they didn’t have the liberty nor time to be amazed.

BOOOM!

The sound barrier shattered as an arrow raced towards Fabian’s head with a piercing whistle.

Fabian reacted in a seemingly unhurried fashion, bringing the shaft of his halberd to redirect the arrow.

The air around and behind him exploded at the moment of impact, and in the direction he deflected the arrow respectively, trees torn apart by the devastating shockwave.

Fabian himself didn’t move an inch, only, the ground beneath his feet had sunk in.

As the hurricane settled, Fabian looked at his right hand holding the spear, which was trembling slightly.

"Sasha." Fabian muttered looking up at the crenels of the fortress.

There stood a girl with leaf green hair, and azure eyes. "Did you like the surprise, your highness?" the girl smirked.

Fabian lingered for a moment, then raised his halberd, smiling with dark satisfaction.

"No, I did not."

"A pity then, maybe you’ll like it if I increase the intensity?" She said, her bowstring stretched taut as this time, three arrows formed on it.

BOOOM!

The air shattered faster and harder this time, but the arrows went in different directions. One aimed at Alistair, and the other two, aimed at the middle of the group.

Alistair moved on instinct. Instead of stopping or parrying the arrow like Fabian did, he arched backwards, letting the arrow pass above him.

Unfortunately though, the other students part of his group were behind him. As the arrow passed, five whole students in an entire line got eliminated.

The other two arrows also struck the ground between the group, resulting in a massive shockwave that exploded everywhere. And then there was the delayed shockwave of the arrow Alistair dodged.

Everything stirred dust and debris, but a clap form Sarah cleared the dust in their vicinity. Their situation then became clear. While not all the dregs were eliminated, only the elites and two others were still standing, but only Fabian and Alistair still looked unfazed.

"Damn you Sasha! Are you trying to kill us?" Calum cursed. Both he and Fabian had known Sasha since childhood, after all, they were all from the Drakara continent.

They had met many times in banquets, sometimes even when their families try to make them familiar with each other. So while they couldn’t be called friends they were at least acquaintance.

While the group were regaining their bearings, the rough diamond coating the fortress opened, giving way for a plethora of students that charged at the group.

Fabian who was already pissed took the vanguard. He bent his feet slightly, and bolted forward with explosive speed.

He thrusted the tip of his halberd at the first enemy he reached. The enemy clearly too slow to react to the speed of the halberd, disappeared from there as it’s tip reached his throat.

Fabian then spun his halberd, blocking a sword aimed at his vitals, the impact sent the sword wielder crashing into his allies.

Alistair also blasted forward, and began systematically dismantling the enemies.

His first attack came faster than lightning, it was so fast infact that when the youth he thrust his spear at disappeared, the air folded in on itself with a thundering sound. Still, the shockwave went on to hit the other enemies.

Sarah’s ability was aerokinesis, she could manipulate the air/wind around her. Though she could hover, her control hadn’t reached the level where she could comfortably fly.

But still, she rose into the air, and from there a massive arc of wind blade that tore through whatever whatever was in its way.

Just as Calum launched also into the fray,

BOOOM!

An arrow came hurtling at him at subsonic speeds. He barely flipped his body to the side as the arrow grazed by.

"Didn’t forget about me did you?" Sasha said as another arrow formed on her bow, her muscles coiled in tension. Her ability let her multiply the speed of any projectile that left her hands.

She fired it at Calum, then fired another at Elsa, in quick succession.

The two arrows rocketed towards their destination with the same speeds as before.

Calum’s coiled his arm back, into a fist, then blue scales rapidly grew, covering his entire forearm. With practiced motion, he punched at the arrow head on.

A billowing pressurized pocket of air formed from that point, holding itself together for an imperceptible moment, before it burst with a thundering boom, scattering dust and debris everywhere.

The arrow meant for Elsa meanwhile, passed through her as if she were an illusion. Which in truth she was. Elsa had long cloaked herself in an illusive veil, and projected another illusion of her being there. It was also the reason why Anastasia said that apart from her, only Damon or Elsa could steal a flag and get away with it.

Meanwhile, Fabian spun around, and swung his halberd in a wide sweeping horizontal arc.

"Third art: Tempest wheel."

A wide arc of silver light swept at the direction he swung, taking out three enemies at once.

It had not even been a minute since the whole fight started, but 1–Delta’s numbers had already dwindled down to a few, courstey to the massacre Fabian and Alistair we’re carrying out.

Calum also moved like a brute along the battlefield, each punch or kick slamming the enemy backwards.

Sasha continued to send arrows flying at the group, but it was at most, only distracting.

The two who built the fortress, Geo and Lia, were also quickly eliminated when they fought Alistair and Fabian respectively.

Geo’s terrakinesis wasn’t fast or precise enough to catch Alistair, while Lia’s crystal manipulation was useless against Fabian, because he could disintegrate it.

Soon enough, the sounds of battle ceased. The enemy were wiped out, all apart from Sasha who was still hiding behind the crenels.

Though, of the twenty 1–Alpha students that came here, only five remained. Namely; Alistair, Fabian, Calum, Sarah, and Elsa. The rest had also all been eliminated. In fact some fell a victim to their elites’ own attacks.

"Okay fine, I surrender." Sasha showed herself with hands raised. "The flag is yours." She said, just as a figure rose from the shadows next to her.

"You think you can just surrender like that?" Calum shouted.

"We’ve already lost huh?" Aric meanwhile sighed looking down at the destruction wrought field. He had grossly underestimated 1–Alpha’s might.

"It was fun while it lasted." Sasha smirked.

"As she said, the flag is yours." Arc motioned to the top of the castle.

The group didn’t need anymore invitation than that. Alistair bent his legs, and jumped straight to the top of the castle, and with little effort, removed the flag from it’s hold. The flag was as tall as he was, and looked just like the one back at their castle, only, this one had 1–Delta written on it.

Alistair jumped back at the group with his trademark smile. They had won. Not like he had any doubts about it, but he just hoped the other team didn’t mess things up.

--------------

Meanwhile, back with Damon.

"Ahhh!" I sighed. "I was beginning to wonder where you were." I turned in the direction the arrow was fired from, and there he was, the lean archer. "After all, we do have a score to settle." I smirked.
