The Editor Is An Extra-Chapter 113: Mid terms 8
In a ruined city that appeared apocalyptic, or perhaps dystopian, A blue haired girl stood atop a spire, her bow stretched taut, with an ethereal arrow nocked on it.
It had been four hours since the egg challenge phase started, and Delilah hasn’t had a lot of luck. The moment the challenge started, everyone rushed out of the stadium, including Delilah.
After which the Whetstone princess spent two or so hours in the mountain range, but only managed to find four eggs. Of course she had seen many other students with eggs, but she didn’t want to snatch what they had work hard to get. But still, that didn’t mean she wouldn’t do so if it meant she would be out of the top 64.
Delilah eventually left the chain of mountains, and found herself in a ruined apocalyptic/ dystopian city.
"Strange." she muttered. She could have sworn that as she made her way here, the temperature kept getting lower, to the point of minus degrees, but just as she was about to leave the mountain range, it suddenly spiked back to normal.
She gazed at the dystopian city from a high vintage point, before descending. She sprinted into the city all in one go, and didn’t stop until she encountered other students.
But that wasn’t all. It was a group of three, running in her direction, and looked like they were running away from something.
’What could they be running from?’ she thought, her brows furrowed. Her curiosity didn’t stay unanswered for long though, as the next moment, a straggling number of red eyed monkeys charged through from within the broken buildings.
Delilah didn’t hesitate. She drew her bow taut. Five wooden arrows appeared on it, which shot from her bow almost immediately.
The arrows shot through the air with a silent whistle, and struck the heads of five monkeys, dead center. The monkeys died before the wooden arrows could even have the chance to explode into splinters.
But Delilah didn’t stay put. The moment the arrows struck, five more had already left her bow, and before those ones hit their target, she had already released fifteen more in quick succession.
Twenty arrows flew through the air, but not all of them hit the specific monkeys she targeted. Though, that didn’t mean they completely failed. They still hit the monkeys behind.
At this moment, the three that were being chased by the monkeys reached and ran past Delilah. Delilah also didn’t continue to stand there, she had acted to stall the monkeys long enough for these three to get away, and now that she had achieved that, she had no reason to face the monkeys anymore.
She darted to the side, and entered into the halls of a spire, that overlooked the entire city, through it’s broken gates. But it would seem that she had now drawn the monkeys’ ire, because they didn’t hesitate to abandon those three, and follow after her.
Still, she was an Eta ranked aetherial, some bunch of low ranked monkeys, however much they were, couldn’t best her. She turned slightly shifting on her feet, and aimed at the broken gates through which the monkeys were starting to come through.
A volley of arrows shot from her bow, in pairs of five. Delilah didn’t wait to see whether the arrows even hit though, before she already turned on her feet, and ascended the stairs that no doubt led to the top of the spire.
Surprisingly, on three different stairs, she managed to get two pairs of eggs each, bringing her total to ten. That at least, brought a silver of a smile to her face.
The monkeys meanwhile, were pretty relentless. They followed after her with even more fervor than before.
Once in a while, she would turn and shoot at those in her immediate surroundings, but even with her sharp vision, the lights in the spire was dim, courstey of lamps that looked like they’d lasted a thousand years.
And since she used two hands for her weapon, she couldn’t even afford to rip out one of the lamps from the walls. She soon reached the top of the spire. But just before she emerged into the open terrace, she turned to the monkeys for the final time.
"Bow art: Myriad bloom." This time, only a single arrow appeared on her bowstring, and it wasn’t made of wood. This one was entirely made of aether, and had a slight blueish glow that made it look almost ethereal.
BOOOM!
The arrow made three concentric rings in the air that blew even Delilah back a few steps. One arrow turned to two, and two, to four, and so on. Until there were countless arrows descending the stairs, with each one taking the life of a monkey.
Delilah didn’t stay back to watch the effects of her attack. Instead, she pushed the doors leading to the terrace, luckily, it could be locked, so she simply locked it behind her.
Another surprise awaited her there. This time there was another dias on the terrace, and on it were six eggs. She quickly put them in the special spatial storage they were given.
After that, she stepped closer to the edge of terrace, and climbed onto it. She only stopped when one more step would lead to her falling from the top.
Delilah overlooked the entire city from here, and down below, she could still see numerous amounts of monkeys, sieging the spire. She stretched her bowstring taut once more, and the same ethereal arrow from earlier appeared on it once more.
"Bow art: Myriad bloom."
BOOOM!
The arrow left her bow with a resounding sonic boom. The recoil from the arrow breaking the sound barrier multiple times, blew her back a bit, sending her off the edge of the terrace.
The arrow however, like before splited into an uncountable number, that dropped like rain, each one like a lethal drop that look the life of any monkey it struck.
Delilah meanwhile landed on her feet, rolling her shoulders that seemed to have taken the most impact from the recoil. It was the reason why she didn’t like to use her techniques much, and preferred to just use wooden arrows, or pure aether arrows.
The recoil was too much for her at her current rank. It might soften when she reached the Eta+ rank, or even become mild when she reached the Theta- rank.
But for now,
"Status." she called out.

"I still have to get stronger." She muttered. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
She shook away those thoughts, and edged closer to the edge of the terrace to see the destruction her arrows had caused. One word came to her mind when the saw the result.
Carnage.
-------------
In a desert with white dunes, the sun shine from above with a heat so harsh that it could smoke a steak.
This desert was simply one of the landscapes in the egg challenge phase. But unlike regular deserts which had brown or gold sands, this desert’s sands were stark white, and unnaturally pale.
One would think that with how harsh the weather was, no one would dare to set foot in it. However, the students undergoing the egg challenge, would do anything to rank up.
And one such student, walked across the dunes, in his lonesome.
"Damn, I’m pretty sure the entrance to the catacombs is supposed to be somewhere around here." The student muttered.
Of course, it was none other than yours truly, your very own resident transmigrator. In the novel Alistair and Elsa had fallen into a catacombs in this desert, where they found a huge number of eggs, that were enough to make Alistair clinch first place by a wide margin.
Of course, the exact place it was located wasn’t actually specified. Just that they managed to stumble upon it at the base of a signpost, along the edges of the desert. Though with the eggs I had snatch from that crocodile like beast four hours back, the two were unlikely to make their way to this desert.
Anyway, I had been walking at the edges of the dessert for over an hour, keeping my eyes open, and trying to look for any signs of something that could be called a signpost. And to be honest, the heat was starting to get to me. And it wasn’t even as if it was my main body.
"If this continues, I’ll burn before the next hour." I Muttered. Just then, in my hazy vision, I caught a glimpse of a figure.
"What the hell?" I blurted. "How the hell did she get here?"
