Chapter 41: Chapter 41 Since When Was She This Capable?

Calvin’s POV

I stared at Evelyn in shock as her words filled the hospital room. The determination in her eyes was clear, she wasn’t asking for permission; she was telling me her decision.

"You’ve seen the hospital results yourself," she said firmly. "They can’t identify the toxin in our children’s bodies, but I can."

Her voice softened slightly as she added, "I’m their mother. I would never harm them."

I watched as Eryx entered the room with several medical staff I didn’t recognize. Their professional behavior and organized movements showed they had worked together before, quickly preparing to move my sons.

"How exactly do you plan to save them?" I challenged, my Alpha instincts resisting the loss of control. "Even Ravendale’s most respected doctors couldn’t diagnose the problem."

Evelyn’s eyes met mine with complete confidence. "I’m taking them to Evelink Biosciences."

My wolf reacted with surprise, and I couldn’t hide my shock. Evelink Biosciences was Veridia’s most mysterious medical technology company in recent years. They had appeared suddenly and quickly made hundreds of millions in profit with new treatments for human diseases. Recently, people said they were working on cures for wolf-specific illnesses, but their work remained secret.

Their founder was unknown, a wolf with incredible medical skills who had never appeared at any public event or press conference. Their process for choosing patients was just as secret, with strict privacy agreements and screening methods that even I couldn’t access with my resources.

"How do you have access to Evelink Biosciences?" I asked, watching her face carefully.

"I have connections," she replied simply. "That’s all you need to know."

I stared at her, looking for any sign of lying. There was none.

We had received the children’s test results this morning, and the medical team was confused. Yet Evelyn stood here, completely sure of herself.

"How long?" I asked directly.

"One week," she replied without hesitation. "They’ll return home healthy."

The wolf inside me growled protectively. My pups were dying, and I had to trust them to my former mate, a woman who had every reason to hate me. But I knew about LDS and how deadly it was. The disease slowly destroyed a shifter’s connection to their wolf, finally causing all organs to fail. Regular medicine had no cure.

"Meet me on the hospital roof in ten minutes," Evelyn instructed. "We need to move quickly."

Ten minutes later, I stood on the hospital’s helipad, holding Rhys close to my chest while Evelyn held Rowan. A black helicopter with the Evelink logo on its side waited there.

"You arranged this?" I couldn’t hide my surprise.

The Norse Pack had joined with mine years ago, and I thought I knew what resources Evelyn had. This kind of power didn’t match what I knew about her position or connections.

"Who are you really, Evelyn?" I asked, growing more suspicious.

She looked at me steadily. "Someone who can save our children when no one else can."

I could see she was keeping secrets, but instead of explaining more, she just sighed and looked away.

"If you need anything, resources, security, anything at all, contact me immediately," I said over the noise of the rotors.

Evelyn didn’t answer. She sat down and focused on securing our unconscious son for the flight. She made it clear—she would do this alone, just like everything else since she left.

I watched the helicopter until it disappeared in the distance, taking my sons with it. I turned to Zeon, my Beta who had watched everything quietly, and gave a direct order.

As soon as they were gone, I turned to Zeon who had been waiting by the doorway.

"I want a complete investigation into Evelyn Blackwell," I ordered. "Her whereabouts for the past three years, her connections, and especially her relationship with Evelink Biosciences. There’s more to her than she’s letting on."

"Yes, Alpha," Zeon nodded.

Cyra within me growled uneasily. The woman who had just left with our sons was not the same Omega I had married. And I intended to find out why.

Back at Wolfe Haven International headquarters, I focused on the Red Cedar Resort acquisition project.

"The Viremont government is insisting on fair competition for the bid," Zeon reported, spreading documents across my desk.

I raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Is our funding insufficient,or has our mysterious competitor stepped in again?"

"It appears to be the latter, Alpha," Zeon replied carefully. "We’re still investigating who we’re bidding against, but their security is impenetrable. We can’t find any weak points."

Despite my concern for my sons, this news demanded immediate attention. The Red Cedar Resort property was crucial for our pack’s expansion plans.

"Book me a flight," I ordered, standing up. "I need to meet with Senator Williams personally."

Evelyn’s POV

As the helicopter took off, I took a deep breath. Holding Rowan close, I felt the heat of his fever through his thin hospital gown. Next to us, Rhys lay on a medical stretcher, machines tracking his weak vital signs. Looking at my sick sons, I felt pure hate for Clara.

She could run after Calvin all she wanted, I hadn’t tried to stop her since coming back. But my children were off limits. No one could hurt them.

We flew to Viremont in under an hour. Eryx kept talking to the team at Evelink Biosciences, making sure everything was ready for our arrival. I looked at the medical facility I had created, feeling proud despite my worry. My personal project had grown into something bigger than I imagined.

Alexis was already in her room, which looked more like an apartment than a hospital room. She was playing with toys we had for young patients when we brought her brothers in.

I started work right away, checking and treating both boys myself. Using my specially developed LDS stabilizer, the treatment went well.

Once the twins were stable, I called Jackson, who ran cybersecurity at Evelink.

"Send everything we have on Calypso Pack’s illegal business to the Alpha Council," I told him. "And initiate the targeting protocol on Summit Industries’ stock."

"Yes, Dr. Blackwell," Jackson said. "Our team has all the proof of their organ selling and drug dealing ready. Summit Industries’ stock will crash when trading starts."

Clara would learn what happens when she hurt my family. She would watch her pack’s crimes come to light and her company lose everything.
