At that moment, upon hearing what Penelope just said, Cora's face transformed into this confident, almost defiant smile that seemed to light up her entire expression. She crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her head slightly, looking at Penelope like she was dealing with a particularly stubborn child.

"Do I look like somebody that is afraid to you?" Cora asked, her voice carrying this new strength that even surprised herself.

"Do I honestly look like somebody who is literally trembling in fear about what you think you can do to me or my life?" She let out a small laugh that was completely different from Penelope's mocking ones - this one was genuine and filled with newfound confidence.

"I am not afraid of you, Penelope, and I think it's about time you came down from whatever high horse you've been riding and literally faced the reality of this situation."

At that moment, Penelope's eyes gleamed with what she thought was victory, and she rubbed her hands together like she was preparing to set a trap that Cora would never be able to escape from.

"Well, since you're feeling so brave and confident, I'm going to literally set all the rules for this bet myself," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction.

"Because if I'm the one setting the rules, then I definitely will not break them or try to change them later, and I have a feeling that since you're acting so sure of yourself right now, you're definitely going to agree to whatever rules I decide to put in place, no matter how challenging they might be."

At that moment, without even hesitating for a single second, Cora nodded her head and looked Penelope straight in the eye.

"No problem whatsoever. You have yourself a deal," she said firmly. "Set whatever rules you want, make them as complicated or as difficult as you think you need to. I'm ready for whatever you throw at me."

The moment those words left Cora's mouth, Penelope was genuinely taken aback because she had literally thought that suggesting she should be the one to set all the rules would definitely make Cora drop back and reconsider this whole bet. She had been counting on Cora getting scared and backing down, but instead, Cora wasn't even stepping back or showing any signs of doubt - she was still standing there looking bold and confident as ever. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Immediately, Penelope deleted any lingering thoughts from her head about holding back or going easy on Cora and Oliver, because she knew deep down that this was clearly the perfect opportunity she had been waiting for to literally deal with Cora once and for all. This was her chance to put Cora in her place permanently, to humiliate her so thoroughly that she would never dare to challenge her again for the rest of their lives.

"Well, thank goodness that I didn't have to force you or twist your arm to agree to this bet," Penelope said, her voice practically dripping with excitement and malicious satisfaction.

"I was worried you might try to back out at the last second like you usually do, but I'm so pleased to see that you're actually going to follow through with this for once in your life."

Without wasting another second, she cleared her throat dramatically and began laying out what she clearly thought were impossible conditions for Cora and Oliver to meet.

"The deal goes exactly as follows, and I want both of you to listen very carefully because I'm only going to say this once," she announced, her voice taking on this authoritative tone like she was a judge pronouncing a sentence.

"If you and your boyfriend here can somehow manage to show up at my wedding without me giving you a single invitation card, and if you can somehow get yourselves introduced and recognized as the highest guests of honor at my entire event, then I will give you complete power over me that day."

Penelope's eyes gleamed with what she thought was certain victory as she continued.

"If you can pull off that impossible miracle, then you can say absolutely anything you want to say to me, and you can do whatever you want to do with me during my own wedding celebration. I will not even try to stop you, I will not try to beg you for mercy, and I will not even attempt to apologize to you for anything. You can simply do whatever your heart desires to me in front of all my guests, and I will accept it completely without any resistance whatsoever."

At that moment, Penelope's smile turned almost vicious as she continued laying out the second part of the bet, the part she was clearly most excited about because she was absolutely certain this was the outcome that would actually happen.

"But if you're not able to step your feet inside my wedding venue," she said, her voice getting louder and more animated with each word, "if you're not able to actually attend or if you end up being kicked out and thrown away from the gate like the trash you are, then just know that you are going to face the greatest embarrassment and humiliation of your entire pathetic life."

Penelope leaned forward with this predatory look in her eyes, like a hunter about to deliver the final blow to cornered prey.

"Because when you fail - and trust me, you absolutely will fail - I'm going to personally pay every single major media outlet in this city to broadcast your failure to the entire world. I'm going to make sure they humiliate you on television, on social media, in newspapers, everywhere people can possibly see. They're going to call you out as a liar, as someone who makes empty promises, as a nobody who tried to pretend they were somebody important." Her voice was practically shaking with excitement now.

"And the best part is that you won't be able to do a single thing about it. You won't try to sue me, you won't try to defend yourself, and you absolutely won't try to slander me by saying I'm bullying you or making false accusations against you."
