The Devil's Warrior Queen-Chapter 502: Nightmares Again..
Chapter 502: Nightmares Again..
Larisa waited for Lothaire to be back after leaving her to find Laverna but it was almost midnight and her eyelids were heavy, so she slept off.
Larisa opened her eyes to be greeted by darkness, it was a darkness she was familiar with, she now knew why the ominous presence felt familiar and it was because she had been there before. She recognized the cold darkness as the one she had been in, when she was having her nightmares. She shuddered in fear when she realized that whatever gave her nightmares were still lurking around and it had started to haunt her all over again.
Larisa knew she was yet again back to the nightmare she had dreaded to come back to, she had thought she had been free and could finally live peacefully with Lothaire but how wrong could she possibly be.
The dark place was as silent as a graveyard, she could hear her own heart racing rapidly against her chest in fear, everything was too real and vivid, she could feel the coldness of the place biting her skin and she almost doubted it wasn’t a dream but she was familiar with the vividness and reality of her nightmares, so her doubts seized to exist any longer.
She tried to figure out where she was, while praying for the nightmare to end quickly. When she saw and heard nothing, she gave up and waited around for the nightmare to finally end, so she could see Lothaire’s face again, she wanted nothing more than to be with him right at that moment, he would make her fear seize to exist with his presence and comfort her.
Her blood froze and her heart pounded harder against her chest as she felt a cold, eerie breeze brush past her skin but it was impossible to know where it came from.
She felt the dark presence that made the hair on her skin stand erect, as she stood frozen in the cold, dark and eerie place.
"Larisa..."
Larisa’s heart skipped a thousand beats when she heard a faint dreary voice call out her name in a whisper that sounded daunting and dark.
She was too scared to stay put so she started running with wobbly legs in the dark place, she couldn’t see a thing and there wasn’t a hint of light to guide the path she took, but she ran anyways until she stumbled upon an unknown object and fell flat on her face. She grunted in pain as her body came colliding with the floor.
She wondered how it was possible to feel pain in a dream, but she did and she thought she was unlucky.
She sat up on the floor but she gave up running, she was too scared to move, so she hugged her knees against her chest and buried her face between them as she sobbed.
She felt a presence looming above her, she could feel the boding evil being emitted from the presence which made her body freeze in terror, she could feel it’s eyes peering at her but she closed her eyes tightly, she didn’t want to look, she was sure she’d have a heart attack if she did.
She stayed there for a long time, as she continued closing her eyes but she could still feel the presence there, watching her and she wondered if the nightmare would ever end, because she had never had a nightmare for that long.
She slowly opened her eyes and raised her head up to see nothing but a pair of glowing dark violet eyes staring at her in the darkness, the sight of the terrifying, dark eyes petrified her to her bones and a loud scream erupted from her throat in fright.
Her eyes shut open with heart pounding heavily against her chest in blood curdling fear as adrenaline flowed through her veins, none of her nightmares had been as fearsome until then and her body trembled.
It took her a while to realize she was in Lothaire’s arms who was equally stroking her hair gently, whispering softly to her.
"Don’t be scared love, I’ll make your nightmares disappear soon." She felt relieved hearing his voice and she soon relaxed into his arms as she fell back asleep.
Lothaire held Larisa in his arms as she slept peacefully till morning, his thick brows permanently creased since her nightmare the previous night, he felt it was slowly becoming worse because she had never been that terrified.
His patience was wearing thin as he wanted Laverna immediately, but no matter how impatient he was, he had to wait for Avian to bring her back.
He watched as Larisa woke up when it was morning, her bright face had become dull from the nightmare but he quickly gave her a kiss on her forehead to brighten it up. A smile cut through her lips when he gave her a heartwarming kiss that made her almost forget about her nightmares but it was too vivid and fearsome for her to forget.
"I had another nightmare..." She broke out to him which he wasn’t unaware of.
"Avian will bring back Laverna today, we’ll figure out who’s behind this and get rid of your nightmares." Lothaire promised with a firm tone and she nodded.
"I saw something...Actually, I saw something before but I didn’t say anything because it threatened to kill me..." Larisa made a clean breast of everything and Lothaire’s brows creased, why was she just telling him now? Clearly whatever the presence was had threatened her to prevent her from giving them ideas on what it was, probably to save more time, but for what?
"You should have told me earlier, don’t you trust that I can protect you?" Lothaire’s voice was calm and soothing and she bit her lower lips in regret but she was in a state of dilemma at that time and everything had been happening too quickly, she couldn’t think straight.
"I know you can protect me but whatever it is isn’t here, it’s like a spirit, I can feel it but I can’t see it..." She explained in a low voice with a fearful expression as if whatever it was would hear her. Lothaire’s mind drifted to what Avian had told him about Hela using the spiritual realm to attack Larisa and his jaws ticked in an unnerving way as his face darkened.
"What did you see before..and now?" Lothaire asked immediately and she gulped nervously before saying,
"At first, I saw a heart in a box...but it was glowing with a purple light, it had purple veins, I know it’s strange but I saw a purple heart." Larisa blurted out and she saw Lothaire’s face darkening even more as it became alarmed and she immediately knew he was familiar with what she was talking about.
Lothaire clenched his teeth and his hands curled into a tight fist in anger and frustration etched at every corner of his gorgeous face. He was very well acquainted with the heart Larisa described because he had ripped it out of Hela’s chest himself before trapping her in the abyss.
He had kept her heart safely in a box, but the location of the box was unknown, he was the only one who knew the whereabouts of Hela’s heart.
"The day you found me at that strange door, it led me there...I saw the torches light up with purple flames but they turned red when you arrived." Larisa continued with her explanation and it all made sense then, the reason why he saw her at the door which led to an underground temple, was because Hela was trapped inside the temple, where he had created the abyss.
"It’s Hela!" She heard him say with teeth gnashing together in fury, his golden eyes scorched with flames blazing into them.
Her heart jumped to her throat when he broke the news to her, that the goddess of death was the presence haunting her and giving her sleepless nights.
She wondered what she had done to anger her, but now that she thought about it, Lothaire had ripped out her heart and trapped her in an abyss for a thousand years, so what better way for Hela to get her revenge on an immortal demon than to haunt or worse, kill his mate.
