Chapter 414: Midnight Wedding

The maids escorted Falka to the entrance of the wedding Hall, before they left. In front of her were towering double doors, they were quite eerie and it made her stomach churn.

Falka waited patiently until she heard the announcer announce the arrival of the bride. At that instant, the doors were pushed open to reveal the grandeur of the Hall, the interior screaming opulence as it came into her view.

Falka’s gaze screened through the few hundreds of guests who had managed to make it for the wedding. She wasn’t expecting a crowd, no matter how small it was and to see hundreds of eyes fixated on her only made her edgy.

Thankfully, it was a bit blurry through the veil, so it was easier to ignore the peering gazes, mixing with crimson hues and typical eye colours.

Falka swallowed as she slowly moved, one feet after the other to avoid tripping. Her eyes narrowed to the altar where Ares would have been waiting, but she could barely see anyone’s face clearly so she kept her head down as she walked down the aisle.

As she began to walk, a slow orchestra played beautifully in the background, adding as a soothing remedy to her agitated mind. She was scared of what she was getting herself into if the marriage went on. Ares’s warnings rang in her head and Falka was well aware that being a part of their lineage was going to be a dance with the devil.

The essence of darkness that lurked around them was palpable, the malevolent energy that seeped through their eyes could be discernable, it was an impassable trait that revolved around their world of darkness, but they were literal demons, what else was she expecting? Unicorns and roses? Not in this world.

The walk down the aisle came to an end and the orchestra abruptly ended as well. Falka finally stood in front of the altar and a hand appeared in her view.

Falka didn’t need to look to know whose veiny hand it belonged to. Taking in a deep breath, she placed her small hand atop his big ones, the warmth from his hand oddly made her relax and then, he squeezed it slightly as she stood on the altar facing him.

Ever slowly, his hand hovered at her face as he lifted her veil up. Immediately her face came into view, soft whispers rose among the crowd, stunned by the bride’s immaculate beauty.

As Ares’s eyes met hers, his lips parted softly, mesmerized by her captivating beauty and his orbs shimmered with an unfathomable sensation that made it seem like a thousand burning silver crystals swimming in them. His Adam’s apple bobbled up and down his throat as he swallowed.

The wedding official cleared his throat, and Ares immediately composed himself.

As the wedding official began the ceremony, reading vows, the words became more and more muffled in Falka’s ears. She could barely concentrate, not with all the judgemental stares on her or the tension clawing through her insides. freewebnøvel_com

The abrupt clearing of the official’s throat broke her out of her reverie as he repeated the words she hadn’t heard.

"Do you, Lady Falka Gulliman, take Prince Ares Salvatore to be your husband?"

Falka’s heart leapt to her throat as the question resonated in her ear, she realized she had just missed a whole damn vow and now, she had no idea how they had arrived at the question part.

Falka had been a bit lost in her thought but it was an easy question and she knew the answer to it.

"Yes." Falka blurted out in a small voice.

The official gave them both golden rings to exchange and gestured for them to proceed with the exchangement of rings.

Offering her hand to Ares, he slipped the ring into her ring finger. It was a perfect fit and a very beautiful ring for her slender fingers.

Ares offered his hand and she slipped the ring into his ring finger as well.

As soon as the rings were exchanged, the official’s booming voice almost made her jump out of her skin as he said "You may kiss the bride."

At first, the words didn’t quite process itself into her head, until a few seconds later.

"Wait, what?" Falka blurted out. She was shy and red as a tomato, she had never been close enough to a man to have romantic physical contact with them, talk less a kiss.

Falka didn’t want to embarrass herself in front of everyone, moreover, Ares had assured her it was just a contract marriage, she didn’t have to perform any marital duties but why then was she expected to kiss....

Her thoughts trailed off when he leaned his face down, closer to hers while cupping her face in his hands. Before she could elicit a reaction, his full juicy red lips pressed against hers.

A rush of adrenaline coursed through her veins as he took her lips in his. His hot tongue swiped over her lips before invading the inside of her warm mouth.

Falka felt his hand curl around her waist as he sucked and nibbled on her lips while their tongues melted into each other’s. A charge of electricity ignitied within her veins as he kissed her, it was unlike anything she had ever felt before.

It was...mind blowing, she couldn’t help but kiss him back and surrender to his kisses. Falka’s body melted into his but as she let herself revel in the moment, Ares abruptly broke the kiss as he pulled away, not before he whispered into her ear "If we don’t stop kissing, the guests won’t go home."

Ares stood back straight with squared shoulders while the official announced them as husband and wife. The crowd rose in a cheer with a round of applause, meanwhile, Falka was drowning in embarrassment as her face turned red.

As per traditions, the wedding banquet was hosted afterward and the first people to grace their sight was Ari, while Rama and Draco were busy discussing with the guests.

"Congratulations on your freedom, Falka. I hope we can be well acquainted, especially since I’ll be your new trainer." Ari chirped excitedly. She was glowing, literally.

With unique features and dressed in a golden outfit, she looked nothing less than a glowing moon, meanwhile, Falka noticed how Vlad always seemed to be enthralled by her, most of the times, he was in a trance and always hovering around her.

"Thank you, I’m sure we will." Falka said.

In the next second, Vlad graced their sight, Vlad in a luxurious white leather jacket with a hood covering his face as always with his white hair peeking from it. Even Falka couldn’t discern the reason behind the hood. She had thought he liked to be mysterious or something.

Vlad’s gaze firstly dropped on Ari before it stopped on them. "Should I say congratulations?" Vlad let out a throaty chuckle.

"Let’s hope it turns out like your parents, it would be quite a love story." Ari blurted out.

"History repeating itself, huh?" Vlad remarked, but as much as she would have loved to converse with them more, Falka was exhausted.

"Definitely not, my father was quite forceful on the note, this contracted union is rather consensual." Ares noted.

"Loosen up a bit, anyways, are you both coming for the banquet? If not, I’ll pass too. It’s quite annoying to be in the same with the higher ranks." Vlad implied.

"No, she’s tired, they’ll only tire her more. We’ll call it a night." Ares said.

Vlad’s eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint, with an impish smirk curving his lips up as he said "Have a nice night then or a long one." Vlad quipped.

"Can I speak to you, Ari?" Vlad said, his time changing into a tender one.

Ari turned her back on him as she started walking away while he followed behind "you’re not going to propose to me now, are you?" She teased and like that, they both disappeared, their laughter echoing through the stone walls until it faded into thin air.

"Your friends are quite.. Delusional and cute." Falka remarked and Ares scoffed.

"They are anything but cute." Ares said, but then his face darkened when a figure came into view, appearing out of thin air.

Before them, stood a tall, slender young woman with black serpentine hair and sharp features that contrasted perfectly with her pale skin. Her wicked eyes gleamed with crimson hue and no one needed to break it to Falka that she was a vampire. They all had that same aura, dark and bloodthirsty.

"Prince Ares, what a nice surprise you gave us all with your flash wedding." The vampiress drawled.

Meanwhile, the only thing Falka could see was her cleavages spilling out of the dress, she feared that if the vampiress moved any more than she did, her peaches would spill out.

"Sorry to disappoint you, all that hard work gone to waste. I’m sure another powerful vampire would appreciate your hardwork." Ares said in a flat tone, unmoved by her obvious flirting skills.

"I doubt there’s a vampire more powerful than you, except of course your father and grandfather, but it’s impossible with them now. Anyways, I’ve learned to stick with my resources." The vampiress said, twisting her body seductively.

"Then what do you want? A position as a courtesan? I would have thought you were above that role, but now I see it suits you perfectly." Ares said blatantly, leaving the vampiress rather shaken by his unfiltered words.

"I am a lady of high status, I will not stand here to tolerate insults in front of your mute bride." The vampiress hissed, but she was sure to lower her tone.

Falka smirked in amusement as she retorted "Who’s mute? I was only enjoying the show of your poor seducing skills."
