Chapter 230: [Violent Dragon]

Shien of course wouldn’t know the situation on Airi’s side.

Shien just knew that after that girl’s merciless punch he had finally been shaken out of his dazed state.

However, Shien feels like he’s never going to be able to forget that kiss of Nien’s in his whole life.

That taste really is indescribable.

Of course, Shien wouldn’t really try to show off like Airi said.

If he tried, he’d definitely end up eating more punches to the gut.

Thus, Shien cleared his mind somewhat before entering the dining room.

What rather surprised Shien though, was that there was actually no one there today. Not only was Megis not around, Vivian and the rest aren’t there either.

Shien cast his senses out and discovered that there was no sign of Vivian and her party’s magic power within the home.

“They left early in the morning then?”

Shien was puzzled, so he casually asked the butler about it.

The butler gave the following reply.

“The master is still over at the guild, not having returned last night. Miss Vivian and them are the same. They seem to be working on an important quest, so they didn’t return last night either.

Shien was somewhat surprised at the butler’s answer.

“Out through the night huh…”

That really is quite uncommon.

At the very least, ever since they reached the Capital, Vivian and the others haven’t yet spent a night outside. Every time, they’ve only done quests that allowed them to return by night. This was the first time that they’ve had to stay out overnight.

Of course, Shien didn’t think it strange either.

For the sake of completing quests, adventurers will often spend the night outside. Heck, never mind just one night, there are times when they might end up spending a month or even a year out without returning home.

Therefore, Shien was only a bit curious as to what kind of quest that Vivian and them were doing before he stopped bothering to ask anymore. After he finished the breakfast that the servants prepared him, he left the Latrard home and headed over to the palace.

Only, this time, Shien didn’t go directly to the library, but instead first headed to Lucy’s apartments.

“You actually came? And here I thought that you wouldn’t be coming today!”

Lucy seemed quite surprised, but the greater part of her seemed to be happy.

It was like she was watching the return of a prodigal son, a look full of satisfaction.

“I’m in a good mood today, so don’t make me hit you.”

Shien warned her before going straight to the main issue at hand.

When she learned why Shien had come, Lucy was even more surprised.

“You’re going with me to see Lord Jacinta?”

Lucy was visibly surprised.

Shien had already expected that reaction from Lucy.

However, he does indeed want to meet Jacinta.

“After the matter with the monster yesterday, I went back and thought on it a bit more, and I found that I did indeed cared somewhat.” Shien explained, “Therefore, I’ll go with you for this.”

That’s how it is.

Lucy also nodded. She didn’t really suspect anything.

It’s because she was just like Shien. She also quite cared about the issue with that monster.

Only, Lucy and Shien’s motivations for it are different.

Lucy is worried that the monster might end up doing something terrible. She’s also worried that there might be people behind the incident who might be trying to destroy the relationship between the mortals and demons.

Shien however was motivated by Nien’s words from the previous day. It made it so that he could no longer ignore this matter.

(Based on Nien’s explanation, that monster’s existence will end up leading to the birth of a new Demon King.)

If that’s how it is, then Shien could no longer ignore this matter.

Thus, after a brief discussion between the two, they left the apartment.

Not long after, a luxurious looking carriage at the palace gates headed out toward a certain direction.

The Capital, the demon world embassy.

It’s a magnificent looking building set in the Capital’s northeastern governance district.

The building is built like a mansion, but it is in reality also an embassy. It’s a place specifically prepared in the Capital for important people of the demon race to stay in. Normally, it’s used by some demon race liaisons and envoys in order to support the various tasks that has to deal with relations between the mortal and demon worlds. It’s one of the relatively important locations in the Capital.

After Jacinta and his entourage came to the Capital, this was where he has stayed in during that time.

Thus, the luxurious looking carriage ran down the wide streets and finally stopped before the gates of this embassy before letting Shien and Lucy out.

“So this is the place.”

Shien stood before the embassy and looked on over.

Thanks to the [Magic Detection] skill, Shien can sense a number of very strong magic powers.

One of them especially was noticeably large, far exceeding all the rest of them.

Shien can be certain that, putting himself, Lucy, and Airi aside, this one is the strongest source of magic power within the Capital.

“As expected of a demon race Commander, an existence that’s only surpassed by the six great demon lords.”

Shien spoke, although it’s unknown if he was doing so with a respectful tone or an appraising one.

On the other side, Lucy agreed with Shien’s statement.

“Lord Jacinta is the number two among the Dragon Demon’s four great commanders. He’s very powerful. Supposedly, he even participated in the war a thousand years ago, and very actively on the battlefield at that, having fought multiple times against the Heroes. He’s a powerhouse among the demons that not even Teacher Aldia would dare to look down upon.

Lucy told that to Shien.

“According to rumors, Lord Jacinta has already reached above level 90 a long, long time ago, and he even has a very powerful unique skill at that. In the past, he massacred who knows how many divine and mortal elites. Thus, he was even known as the Violent Dragon among the people then. Anyone who underestimate him just because he gives off a frivolous impression, even if it’s you, will end up paying for it.”

In response, Shien raised a brow.

“Violent Dragon?”

He seems to have heard of that title at some point before.

Right, before, in Lamdrion, Vivian had once mentioned it.

It’s because Jillian used to be a subordinate of that Violent Dragon.

In other words…

“So Jillian was Jacinta’s subordinate huh?”

Shine was enlightened.

It’s no wonder then that it was Jacinta and not some other Commander who was the one to come this time. So there was that connection as well.

“You only just realized?” Lucy gave Shien a glance, “The main reason why Lord Jacinta came to the Capital is to see just who defeated Jillian.”

“What?” Shien didn’t seem to care much, “Does he want to get revenge for Jillian or something?”

“You’re overthinking it.” Lucy spoke, irritated, “Although Lord Jacinta seemed to have high expectations for Jillian in the past, after Jillian joined the Old Demon Faction, it was practically the same as betraying Jacinta’s expectations. Lord Jacinta had even spoken on this subject, that he will absolutely drag Jacinta back to be dealt with, so how could he possibly want revenge?”

Truth be told, Shien was only just saying that.

Shien had never felt any hate or hostility from Jacinta. Just the opposite in fact. What was instead present was curiosity and interest.

It’s something that can be seen from Jacinta’s words and actions as well, that he should have a fairly good impression of Shien.

If not for that, even Shien would have felt quite a headache from the thought of of having to fight this elite of the demon race.

It’s because while others might not know it, Shien and his max leveled [Appraisal] skill knows full well what Jacinta’s actual level is.

That Violent Dragon is in fact level 97.

Add in the fact that he also has a unique skill as well as a bunch of skills at at least level 9, Shien can be certain that Jacinta’s definitely at least on the same level as Aldia.
