The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated-Chapter 218: “Sorry About That”
Chapter 218: “Sorry About That”
On the other side, Shien and Lucy had already begun chatting.
“You should be free for the time being, right?” Lucy attempted to confirm.
“I still have to head to the library.”
Shien very subtly rolled his eyes at Lucy. To him, she’s asking when she obviously already knew the answer.
There’s no way that Lucy wouldn’t be aware of the fact that Shien has been spending all his time in the library memorizing magic incantations.
Since she already know all that, why is she even bothering asking?
But Lucy didn’t seem to have any real self-awareness on that matter.
“You can go to the library after you get back.” Lucy smiled at Shien, “Right now though, how about you accompany me for a bit?”
“What do you want?” Shien showed a cautious attitude, “Just chatting over tea… It doesn’t seem like that’s what you’re after huh?”
“Hn.” Lucy nodded before replying honestly, “Didn’t I just mention that I have a small matter to deal with?”
In other words, Lucy wants Shien to come with her in dealing with this matter.
Shien rather wanted to refuse outright.
But Lucy didn’t even give him the chance to.
“Think it through before you reply.”
Lucy spoke those words in a way full of meaning, making Shien twitch.
Obviously, if Shien were to refuse Lucy here, then there’s no way that Lucy would let him off. Who knows what kind of mischief she might end up causing in order to disturb Shien from his studying.
“Just what do you want?”
Shien unhappily spoke.
“Don’t worry, it’s just a trip outside the city. It won’t take up too much time.”
Lucy seemed quite satisfied with Shien’s attitude as she spoke.
“Outside the city?” Shien on the other hand was rather surprised, “What are we going outside the city for?”
Lucy didn’t directly answer.
“You’ll find out in a bit.” Lucy so replied, “Anyways, come with me first.”
With that, Lucy extended her hand in a very natural motion and grabbed Shien.
That scene made Limgir’s eyes twitch as he watched from the side.
For Lucy, perhaps it’s just very natural for her to grab on to Shien to prevent him from trying to run away, right?
But in the eyes of others, the meaning behind that actions is different.
After all, there has never been someone outside of her family and those of the same gender who has been able to get Lucy to hold hands with of her own initiative before.
Now though, Shien managed to get Lucy to do such a thing so very naturally. So what does that mean?
Truly, it’s something that’s more terrifying the more one thinks about it.
At the very least, Limgir had realized that the relationship between Shien and Lucy might be better than anyone has imagined.
This made Limgir feel a rare sense of unease inside of him.
Thus, Limgir wasn’t able to hold himself back from speaking up.
“Is your highness planning to leave the city?” Limgir hurriedly spoke, “In that case, you should have the Holy Sword Knights accompany you, or just directly mobilize the Royal Knights to protect your highness.”
Although he doesn’t know just what Lucy’s planning on doing, Limgir couldn’t dare to pursue the matter, so he could only make that kind of suggestion in order to prevent Shien and Lucy from being able to send time alone.
Thus, the best case is if the Royal Knights are mobilized. That way, he will be able to follow them out the city as well.
That was Limgir’s thoughts anyways.
Unfortunately for him though…
“No need.” Lucy shook her head, “The two of us are enough. This matter does not suit too many people joining in.”
When he heard that, Limgir felt even more uneasy rather than relieved.
The two of them are enough?
How’s that possibly enough?
There’s no way it’s enough!
“But it’s simply too dangerous to let just the two of you leave the city on your own.” Limgir hurriedly spoke, “If it’s unsuitable for too many people to join in, then please at least allow me to accompany you. I swear in the name of the Royal Knights that I will absolutely stake my life to protect your highness.”
Limgir had stopped bothering to hid his intentions anymore. He just directly brought up his wish.
Only then did Lucy finally turn her gaze onto Limgir.
Only, Limgir wasn’t able to feel happy about Lucy’s attention at all. Instead, he just felt a chill in his heart.
That’s because Lucy’s gaze toward him was filled with might.
“Are you saying then, that if some danger that I couldn’t handle appeared, your singular addition would make a difference?”
Lucy’s question instantly forced Limgir into speachlessness.
True enough. If some danger that even Lucy couldn’t handle appeared, then his addition shouldn’t make any real difference, right?
Even if Limgir was higher leveled than Lucy, Lucy’s actual combat power is far stronger than Limgir’s.
Even if she didn’t use her Holy Sword or her unique skill, Lucy’s overall strength is not something that Limgir could compare to.
Take skills for example. Lucy’s skill setup was far more well done than Limgir’s was. Her skills’ levels are all higher than Limgir’s, and add to the fact that Lucy’s potential is unquestionably far higher than Limgir’s, her own growth per level is also unquestionably far better than Limgir’s. Thus, in the situation where their level difference was merely five, Limgir wouldn’t actually have any advantage against Lucy.
To be completely blunt, even putting aside skills or the Holy Sword and doing a comparison using levels alone, none of Lucy’s stats will lose against the higher leveled Limgir.
Although Limgir had never fought Lucy before, he has seen Lucy spar against the vice captain of the Royal Knights on the training field before.
That was a great knight of level 88. Not only was his weapon skill level 9, only one step from max level, he had even trained his [Magic Sword] skill to level 8. His combat power is second to only Aldia within the Royal Knights.
However, even an elite like him couldn’t even hold out ten minutes against Lucy before being defeated.
And this is when Lucy didn’t even use her unique skill or unseal her Holy Sword.
This just shows how strong Lucy really is.
Within the Kingdom, the only one capable of acting as Lucy’s opponent is Aldia alone.
And Limgir?
He likely wouldn’t even last three minutes against Lucy.
“… I am aware that my strength is lacking, but if it is required, I could still buy time for your highness to escape, right?”
Limgir stated in a low tone.
“Unnecessary.” Lucy however mercilessly shook her head as she spoke indifferently, “Shien alone by my side is enough. You should return to the Royal Knights now.”
With that, Lucy stopped paying any attention to Limgir and instead grabbed Shien, turned about, and left.
Shien had a resigned expression on him, but when he saw the dark looking Limgir, he ended up cheered up a bit and spoke up.
“Sorry about that, bro.”
Shien left those final words before quickly leaving with Lucy.
Limgir watched as the two of them left. Only after a bit did he suddenly draw the sword at his waist.
“Bang!”
With the sound of an impact, Limgir swung his sword at a nearby tree, splitting it in half.
“Huff… Huff… Huff…”
Limgir breathed heavily through his mouth.
And a hateful look appeared on his face.
