The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love-Chapter 442: Not enough
"You are lying...You are lying, you bitch!"
"MULAN!"
Xie Zi Han raised his voice this time, loud and clear. His gaze darkened by several shades and his expression was contorted with pain and fury.
"That’s not any way you will talk to Boss. Whatever you have, you will say to me."
She stared at him, unable to process his reaction. "You have never raised your voice against me, Dad..."
"What choice have you left me with, Mulan!?" He exclaimed as his body trembled hard. He used every last bit of his strength to not let his tears fall out, but he was failing miserably.
"You were my pride. The apple of my eyes. I never thought that," he chuckled wryly as tears fell, "I would have to ever say this, but...where did I ever go wrong with raising you? What did I not give you that you felt compelled to...go down this miserable path? Tell me!"
She jolted, his voice echoing in the silence of the hall.
"You...I didn’t raise you to become a monster..."
An eerie silence was left behind the cries and mourns of Xie Zi Han’s crushed heart.
"You are lying..." Mulan stepped back, her face turning ashen. "What do you mean you found me abandoned!? I am not some dirty child picked up from the streets like shown in those sorry novels! I am Yang Mulan, Yang Cheng’s daughter! The real Yang Cheng’s real daughter, who is the heiress of the Yang family!"
Everyone only looked at her, stunned and with loathe. The truth of her not being Xie Zi Han’s real daughter had left her into a spiral of madness. Instead of feeling guilty of her actions and how she let him down, the only fact she cared about was the Yang family.
Xie Zi Han, too, couldn’t believe his eyes. Suddenly, he didn’t know who this woman was standing before him. This wasn’t the daughter he had raised with every ounce of love and care. He hadn’t raised Mulan to be blinded with power and status so much that she wouldn’t be able to see anything else.
It was the point where Xie Zi Han truly lost all hope. He thought that knowing his last with the Yang family and knowing his choices would have changed something within her. Yet this stranger before him cared about nothing else but herself.
At that point, Jia also had enough of Mulan’s stupidity. Words weren’t enough to express how her fury had reached the boiling point.
She stepped forward and said, "Time’s up for you Miss. Xie. There is another," her gaze darkened, "more deserving place to call your home from now on."
"You are not taking me anywhere."
"I will take you exactly where you need to be and if you continue to resist, then don’t blame me for using force."
Even after her warning, Mulan continued to protest and resist. She locked the handcuffs on her wrists and pushed her forward, walking out with her with just a step behind her.
"You are a fool, Mulan," she whispered close enough for her to hear. "The only thing that should have mattered to you was your Dad. He gave you a good life and you...Do you even realize how fortunate you were to be raised by a father like him?"
She glared at her. "Stop with your nonsense lecture!"
"Lecture?" She stared at her, then a wry smile laced her lips. "Yeah, fair enough. You would find it to be a boring lecture. People who have been blessed with a good family don’t recognize its importance. Only those who have lived a lonely life without their parents understand what truly you have lost. You kicked away the only family you had with your own two legs. And you are..."
She half-turned to look at Xie Zi Han.
"Never going to get him back. The only thing you can do is remorse now, but even that...won’t be enough."
—
When the entire fiasco finally ended with the long due arrests that the bad people deserved, the Hou villa welcomed silence once again. It was hard to imagine that until just a few hours ago, there was a full blown engagement party in procession.
Seeing Hou Tengqi walk into the police car was like a dream come true for Meng Rin. She didn’t know how long she had waited for this moment to come when she would be free from his cursed love.
"Rinrin!"
Chow Mey rushed towards her and pulled her into her hug. Her eyes held tears as she patted her head.
"You did good."
Meng Rin froze up for a bit, then tears pooled in her eyes. Her body shook and trembled.
"I am afraid this is all a dream and he will come back."
"No, he is not good to come back," her gaze darkened. "He cannot get out of this no matter what he will try to pull off. Not like Inspector Song or the Yang family would let him. So be rest assured, Rinrin," she sniffled.
"H-How is Caishen?"
She snorted. "Chilling in the ambulance van at a distance, what else?"
"He is not at the hospital?" Her eyes widened.
"That was all for a show."
"I see. Did that wine really have poison...?" She paled.
She coughed. "Well, yes but you don’t have to feel guilty about it. It was the perfect kind of poison that one of Yang Mingshen’s assistants had prepared. What was his name again?"
"Qin Ruwen."
Yong, who was passing by, reminded them of his name. "He concocts poisons. Very effective ones."
Meng Rin didn’t feel too assured of that. "E-Effective?"
"Oh don’t take it the wrong way. It was thoroughly tested upon Bai Caishen before using it on him. And just in case anything did go wrong, Qin Ruwen was right here to save him. He was there in the ambulance van the whole time. I think it’s all dark in there and I am very much interested to know what he and Bai Caishen would have been talking about."
