The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love-Chapter 436: Walk away (2)
"How do you manage a top score in every test, Xie?" his nostrils flared and he scooted his chair closer to his, much to Xie Zi Han’s displeasure.
"I am studying."
"That’s why I am here. Help me study too."
"No."
"Hey! Aren’t we buddies now?"
"No."
"It’s been a year and we are not just roommates now. We are best friends!"
"No."
"Is No the only word in your dictionary?" Yang Cheng dropped his head on the thick book, pressing his cheek against it. He looked at him making notes.
"Xie, Xie, I have an idea. How about I visit your next house next vacation?" He grinned.
Xie Zi Han’s studying streak finally stopped at that point and he glanced at him. He looked at the small cut on his cheek and some scratches here and there on his arms.
"No."
"There are words than No in this world too you know?"
"No."
"Ugh. This is why not a single girl in college is approaching you, Xie. You are actually quite handsome when I look at you, but you keep that nerdy look, which is also fine but at least have a good hair style! And good clothes!"
"I don’t see the need. I am here to study."
Yang Cheng stared at him and smiled. "The more I look at you, the more I keep feeling that you should be my Grandpa’s grandson, haha."
He frowned.
"He wants me to become a doctor. My family comes from a long line of doctors actually."
Xie Zi Han blinked twice, then asked, "You are from that Yang family?"
Yang Cheng gasped. "I cannot believe this that you asked me a question. You finally took an interest in me! Today is the happiest day in the world for me," he cried. "We should celebrate it with beer!"
It was clear from Xie Zi Han’s expression that what little he had opened up to him would go down in the dumps if he didn’t stop his drama.
So Yang Cheng dropped it and said, "Yeah, I am that Yang Cheng. Are you surprised?"
"A little bit but eventually, not really."
"What kind of an answer is that?"
Instead he said, "You don’t want to study medicine? You said your grandfather wants you to become a doctor? So you don’t want to?"
"Na."
"Why are you in a medical college then?"
"Because he wants it. Everything in the Yang house goes as per Grandpa’s orders. He cannot let the legacy die. The Yang family’s main bread and butter must always come from medicine."
Xie Zi Han stared. "Medicine is not a field you study because someone else wants it."
"Try saying that to my Grandpa," his expression turned bitter. "I only came here because I wanted to be free from that man. That house suffocated me."
"What about your parents?"
"Dead."
Silence.
Yang Cheng didn’t mention them with neither any particular fondness nor hostility. It was a simple truth of his world.
"I am the only next in line to carry the legacy. That’s why he is so obsessed, but I keep disappointing him. Coming to London was a decision on both of our parts. I wanted to escape and he borderline wanted to throw me out of the house. I am a disgrace."
The clock ticked by. They could hear the footsteps of students passing down the hallway.
Xie Zi Han slid his textbook toward his side just by a fraction.
"First, I will take your test."
Yang Cheng blinked. Then gasped. "Y-You will teach me?"
"First, I will take a test to see how much you know."
Tears pooled in his eyes, and his cheeks reddened.
"There is no need to get emotional over this," he blandly said.
But Yang Cheng jumped on him anyway. His arms gripped his shoulders in a massive bear hug as if he would crush him. Xie Zi Han didn’t leak any expression, but clearly, the new found proximity was not to his taste.
"I love you Xie!"
"Don’t say misleading things."
Yang Cheng only hugged him harder. "You are the best," he sniffed. "You remind me of Weizhe."
"Who?"
"Jiang Weizhe. They are the Mafia family. He is the current Mafia King."
Xie Zi Han stared at him.
"Yeah, we are also an underworld family. But that is besides the point. You are so much like Weizhe. He is also a quiet man just like you and doesn’t talk much."
"Silence is a virtue," he plainly said.
He rolled his eyes. "Anyway as I was saying, you are Weizhe’s carbon copy in terms of personality. I am sure you two will hit it off if you meet just once. Gosh, you two are so similar. He also looks quiet, cold and unapproachable on the outside but is a total softie inside. He is the only person I missed when I came here."
"...Is that why you refused to budge for the handshake?"
Yang Cheng laughed. "Who do you think you were dealing with? I learned to bring a crack even through Jiang Weizhe’s tough shell. I was practically a pro when I met you."
He didn’t respond.
"You two definitely will become best buddies."
"I see," Xie Zi Han came back to business. "Test time."
"Ugh. Can you not just start teaching me from the beginning?"
"Beginning?"
"Yes, beginning. Everything!" He grinned.
A painful silence stretched.
"Too much work."
"..."
Xie Zi Han then grabbed a first-aid box and took out a cotton. "Do you like to fight?"
"Oh this?" He touched his cut and Xie Zi Han slapped his hand away.
"Don’t touch it."
"Ow," he shook his hand painfully. "Damn, your strength is no joke."
"Why did you fight?"
He shrugged. "I didn’t fight. They were looking for a fight. Losers."
"You get hurt."
"It’s more fun to hurt them actually," he chirped. "Hey, hey! Isn’t this actually a great idea? We can totally start this as a business venture. I fight with nonsense bastards on the streets and send them your way to get treated. I get to punch them and you get to earn money. Winning combo!"
Xie Zi Han stared blankly. "You will...create patients for me?"
His expression was quite disturbingly sunny. "Am I not such a good friend or what?"
Xie Zi Han said nothing. He pressed the cotton on his cheek. Harder.
"You have come into the wrong field. You should get hired by an assassin instead."
