The Cursed Extra: Bloodline of Sacrifice-Chapter 132: Reflection and Magic Zones (edited)
The professor's voice still rang in Caspian's ears as he made his way back to his room.
"You all come to the disciplinary office tomorrow after your classes end."
Simple words.
Eirak and the others had been taken to the medical wing.
But that wasn't what bothered Caspian.
It was how fast the professor had appeared.
Not when the second-years were tormenting others.
Not when they humiliated Lior's brother in the most degrading way possible. Not when they broke bones, laughed, or crushed someone's dignity underfoot.
No, they had never come then.
But the moment he struck back, the moment he retaliated, that was when they had arrived.
He wasn't naïve enough to think that was a coincidence.
It never was.
Sitting on the edge of his bed, he ran a hand through his hair, exhaling slowly.
I'm fucked.
Not just because of what he did, but because of who he did it to.
Eirak and Jaxar. They were Arcwrights. His own brothers.
They were the reason his body carried old scars that had never quite faded.

And now he had made them bleed.
Even worse—he had done it while carrying the name of the Syvalis family.
Caspian closed his eyes.
He already knew how people would spin the story.
A commoner under the Syvalis elven noble name dares to lay his hands on the sons of a Duke.
They didn't need to know the truth. They wouldn't care.
He had touched nobility, and that alone would put him in their crosshairs.
But then again…
What's done is done.
Regret?
There was none.
Because for the first time in years, something inside him felt just a little lighter.
A smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he lay back on his bed.
"Goodnight, Caspian," he muttered to himself. "You're the best."
And with that, sleep took him.

The next morning, the usual routine resumed. Classes, lectures, the usual droning of professors.
But today's lecture caught Caspian's interest.
Magic Zones.
Elara ,stood at the front of the room.
"What we're discussing today is Magic Zones," she began. "A concept that defines the very foundation of magical combat."
Caspian leaned forward slightly.
"A Magic Zone is, in essence, a domain of influence. It is an area in which your magic is at peak effectiveness—where your spells, techniques, and abilities reach their full potential. The stronger your zone, the greater your control within it."
The professor waved her hand, and a glowing circular field spread out around her.
"For example, if my Magic Zone covers a 100-square-meter radius, then my spells will have maximum efficiency within that space. However—" She lifted a hand outside the shimmering field. The moment his fingers passed through the edge of the zone, the glow flickered and weakened. "—any spell cast outside of my zone will lose effectiveness, or in some cases, fail entirely."
Murmurs ran through the class.
"But that brings us to its one fundamental drawback," the professor continued. "A Magic Zone requires complete concentration. The more you expand it, the more difficult it becomes to control. And while it ensures absolute dominance within its range… it also means your magic will not go a single inch outside of it."
That made sense.
A Zone was powerful, but it wasn't limitless.
The professor clasped her hands behind her back. "Now, how many types of Magic Zones exist?" She let the question hang for a moment before answering himself.
"There are four primary types."
The board behind her illuminated, words appearing as he spoke.
1. Offensive Zone
"This type of Magic Zone is focused entirely on amplifying attack spells. Within this domain, every spell you cast will have increased power, speed, and accuracy. A fire mage, for example, would find their flames burning hotter, spreading faster, and consuming more efficiently within their Offensive Zone. But outside of it? Their flames would be significantly weaker."
Caspian nodded. That was straightforward.
2. Defensive Zone
"This is the opposite of an Offensive Zone. Instead of boosting attacks, this Magic Zone is designed to fortify and defend. Barriers, resistance, and reinforcement magic are at their strongest within this space. Defensive Zones are often used by support-oriented combatants, allowing them to withstand high-level attacks without breaking."
Again, simple enough.
3. Incursion Zone
"This is a far more specialized type,"professor Elara said. "Instead of focusing solely on your zone, an Incursion Zone is about establishing a presence within someone else's Magic Zone. It allows you to create pockets of influence inside an opponent's territory—reducing their control while increasing your own."
That got Caspian's attention.
A way to weaken an opponent's domain? To break apart their control from within?
That was far more interesting than simply making one's own zone bigger.
Elara let the students absorb the information before she continued.
4. Adaptive Zone
"This is the rarest and most complex type of Magic Zone," Elara said, his tone shifting slightly. "Unlike the other three, an Adaptive Zone has no singular purpose. Instead, it allows its wielder to adjust their domain dynamically—switching between attack, defense, and incursion as needed."
The murmurs in the class grew louder. Even Caspian felt a flicker of intrigue.
"A true master of the Adaptive Zone can modify their magic on the fly. One moment, their domain could be a shield, deflecting attacks. The next, it could become an Incursion Zone, disrupting the enemy's magic. And before the opponent can counter… it shifts again, amplifying their attacks."
That… sounded overpowered.
But it also sounded incredibly difficult to master.
Elara turned back to the class, her gaze sweeping across the room.
"These are the four primary types of Magic Zones. Every mage will develop one naturally over time, based on their magic, training, and combat instincts. Some will specialize in one type. Others will attempt to master multiple."
She paused.
"But those who wield an Adaptive Zone…" A faint smile tugged at the professor's Elara lips. "They are the ones who stand at the pinnacle
of magical combat."
Caspian exhaled, tapping his fingers against the desk.
Magic Zones, huh?
