Chapter 200: MY PRINCESS!

Slash! Slash! Slash!

In the underground tunnels, two sharp weapons clashed against each other. One of them was a rapier, and the other was a sharp spear, both held by women.

The owner of the rapier charged toward the spear wielder, dodging a thrust that only cut through her mask and scratched her cheek. Seizing the opportunity of her enemy’s defense being wide open, she thrust her hand and disarmed her.

"Ah!" The spear wielder let out a sharp scream before she felt a cold blade touching her neck, piercing her skin only enough to get some blood to threaten her and make a hole in her mask.

"Why did you attack me? You aren’t even experienced enough to win." The woman with the rapier tilted her head. When she followed her enemy’s gaze, she noticed that it was fixed on her backpack.

And seeing her barely exposed collar, she noticed that the level of radiation in her body was clearly so close to the red zone.

"I see... it’s desperation, huh?"

If the spear woman reached the red side, she wouldn’t die, but she’d be close to death.

At that point, the prison would simply heal her, but that wouldn’t be for free.

They’d use the loan system. They’d give her the cure for a price and keep increasing the amount she’d have to pay using the interests.

At that moment, she’d fall into an endless cycle of debts, and she would never be able to use any points to buy anything, as they all would just end up as payments for her endless debts.

The rapier user couldn’t kill her under the rules of the prison. If she did, they’d know about that and she’d be punished.

But she could do something else.

Just like how the spear woman was allowed to steal and even harm, the rapier wielder could logically do the same.

She could take all her clothes, items, and even her backpack, then proceed to sell them at the store of the prison later.

She could also cripple the woman by cutting her arms and legs. If she didn’t have any ability for regeneration, she’d need to buy a potion for points, which were already hard to earn.

In this job, there were only 3 main dangers to be worried about.

The first was the radiation of the first few minutes before reaching the underground. The radiation existed underground, but it was significantly less intense.

The second was the other prisoners themselves. They couldn’t kill, but they could harm and steal, making all the hard work be for nothing.

And the third and most dangerous was obviously the beasts hiding in the shadows.

That was the only thing that could genuinely kill the prisoners in this mission. The beasts were the real danger behind everything.

As she looked at the spear woman, she had the urge to swiftly cut the woman’s veins cleanly and let her bleed until reaching the surface and healing herself. That would force her to pay a lot of points to heal and fall to the loan trap quicker.

But... she felt like that would be against what she believed in.

She couldn’t force herself to do this.

"Do whatever you want." In her vision, a white bird suddenly appeared on the spear woman’s shoulder, talking with a feminine voice: "Anastasia, you don’t have to be cruel just because the others treated you that way. Just be yourself."

"And you’re an angel. Even though you were born as a human, you were chosen for the Charity Bloodline, and it wasn’t a random choice. Do what you think is the right choice."

’An angel, huh?’ The wielder of the rapier, Anastasia, smiled bitterly at that word.

While her rapier was threatening the spear woman, she brought her second hand to a pocket in her backpack and took two shining gems from it. To the woman’s surprise, Anastasia handed her the gems.

The woman had a look of confusion and disbelief on her face: "W-what? Why—"

"Take them and leave before I change my mind!" Anastasia cut her off before she could continue, pulling her rapier to let the woman leave.

Without hesitation, the woman grabbed her spear off the ground and went into a random tunnel, leaving Anastasia alone in the room with the white bird.

"See? The problem is solved without harming her." The bird flew to Anastasia’s shoulder and asked: "How does it feel? Didn’t the flicker of hope in her eyes give you the feeling of achievement? That you made a change in someone’s life?"

Anastasia lowered her rapier and head, her golden eyes staring at the blood on the blade while thinking about her feelings.

"...Yes, it did." Anastasia admitted, but as the bird was about to smile, Anastasia added: "I also feel like I’d have felt the same way if I just cut off her arms and ignored her. No, just ignoring her and running away would feel good... but I don’t know which one would feel better, helping or ignoring her."

"I mean... not everyone here was captured without justification." Anastasia bit her lower lip and continued: "Most of the people here did horrifying things... Why should I help them?"

"..."

Hearing no response, Anastasia sighed and continued searching for anything valuable.

The bird stayed silent, not because she agreed, but because she couldn’t think of anything that could help Anastasia to change the way she was thinking.

Both she and Anastasia knew that those thoughts weren’t normal. If it had been 5 months ago, Anastasia would have been smiling brightly after helping the woman.

She would have never considered ignoring someone whom she could help. She would have never mentioned someone’s past to justify letting them suffer.

"...I hate this too." Anastasia suddenly whispered, as if sensing the bird’s emotions: "How much time do you think I have? Be honest."

The bird responded honestly: "I don’t know. I have no memories of an angel that even considered ruining itself with a demon bloodline. Honestly, I don’t know what’s going to happen now."

Anastasia nodded, feeling a surge of complex emotions in her heart.

"Ana?"

All of a sudden, Anastasia heard a familiar whisper from the end of the tunnel. After a moment, two figures closed the distance and appeared in her sight.

The first was a man in a full body suit, wielding a cleaver and looking at her with wide, golden eyes.

The second was a bulky figure with black eyes wielding a chainsaw blade over his shoulder. She couldn’t see his face clearly because of the mask he wore, but she could see his metallic grey body that was topless for some reason and soaked with different colors of blood, showing that he killed various beasts.

In this world, which is filled with radiation, he had the guts to be topless and not even wipe the radioactive blood off his bare body.

She knew only one person who was that bold.

And that person always moved with a man whom she was familiar with.

"Haah." The bulky man sighed, rolled his eyes, and covered his ears.

Before any of them could say anything, Braham fell to his knees as his face twisted with anger and sadness.

"MY PRINCESS!"

"WHO DARED TO SCRATCH YOUR FACE?! No... I failed you... I should punish them... I should kill them!"

"I SWEAR TO TURN THEIR LIVES INTO HELL!"
