“Right.” Qing Ling understood him.

As they talked, Qilin had been observing them and pondering, looking pensive.

Then Qing Ling moved. She rushed to Qilin while Gao Yang and his double flanked him, pressuring him and covering Qing Ling.

Gao Yang’s strategy was based on one presumption: time was on his side.

First, most of Qilin’s Talents came from his corpse puppets. There was a limited use time for each puppet, and he would sooner or later run out.

Qilin’s eyes twitched, realizing that the slashes were only a feint. A dozen Black Gold weapons quietly hovered above him, each imbued with ample lightning.

Lightning bolts as thick as a thigh struck down from the blades, diving into the two blades Qing Ling wielded.

“Hah!”

Qing Ling shouted, using full force with her swings.

Two radiant lightning arcs shot through the shadow skeletal wings and crisscrossed toward Qilin’s chest, shooting through him and turning into two giant rings of lightning, which sliced through lamp posts and cars, bisected a phonebooth, and finally cut through the walls of a house.

At the last moment, Qilin had used Plasticine to minimize the damage the lightning did to him.

With a flash of his eyes, he enhanced an emotion in Qing Ling—pride.

Without the certainty that he would win, Qilin wasn’t going to use Brain Formatting. Thus, he discreetly amplified Qing Ling’s emotion with Eidos and Praise’s energy, making her more prone to mistakes.

Qing Ling felt her confidence bolstered, and her fighting intent burned hotter.

With a backflip, she soared into the air and cast her weapons at Qilin.

Qilin swatted them aside with a swing of his cane.

Midair, Qing Ling stepped on her Black Gold darts and now wielded her Butterfly Twin Blades. With a strong stomp, she zipped back from midair like an eagle diving for prey.

She twisted her body with great momentum and started slicing quickly at Qilin like a spinning top. Qilin parried the attacks with his cane while stepping back.

Every hit from Qing Ling was imbued with numbing currents.

Qilin’s fingers went numb. He had to let go of his cane and used Phantom to protect himself instead, activating Muscles and Hedgehog at the same time to increase his defense and reflect damage.

Qing Ling felt some damage reflected at her, but with Golden Armor protecting her, she braced it while clenching her teeth and continued to make quick slashes at Qilin, leaving him with no chance to even breathe.

Qilin had been on the defense rather than attacking proactively because he didn’t want to trigger Limitless Evolution’s two passives: absorbing the opponent’s energy, and developing immunity to the opponent’s Talents.

However, he also knew that things would only get worse if he took hits without fighting back. And Hedgehog’s reflection counted as an offensive skill, too, which meant Qing Ling would become immune to it sooner or later.

There was never a 100% guarantee. He had to make a move now!

Telekinesis!

Qilin seized an opening to pin Qing Ling in the air. With Qilin’s current Willpower and their close distance, his Telekinesis was unbreakable.

At the same time, several ice spears rose from beneath his feet, stabbing at her.

Whoosh. Gao Yang teleported behind Qilin, his right fist radiating a blinding red. He made a Fire Punch at Qilin’s back.
