The Conqueror Of Cities!-Chapter 51: Eman Exposed
Chapter 51: Eman Exposed
I rushed to the basement, my heart pounding with adrenaline, and retrieved the small suitcase filled with money and the crucial contracts. With a determined look, I lugged the heavy suitcase back up the hill towards Ipoz. The weight was almost too much to bear, and my lungs felt like they were on fire, but I pushed on, driven by the urgency of the situation.
As I entered the building, I found Darjan and Eman anxiously waiting, their anxiety evident in their nail-biting and worried expressions. However, as they saw me, their faces lit up with relief. "Dionis!" Eman exclaimed, while Darjan simply called out, "Boss!"
"Darjan and Eman, let's go outside," I instructed quickly. We made our way behind Ipoz, where the forest stretched out. My mind was racing with the need to secure our safety and eliminate any evidence.
With determination, I fell on my knees and started digging a hole with my bare hands. Then Darjan and Eman swiftly joined in, the three of us working together to create a small pit. Soon, our hands were covered in mud, and our nails were ruined, but we managed to fit the two guns and the suitcases securely into the hole.
Finishing the job I stood up, wiped my sweet forehead and sighted "Good! now they can't find any proof of our doings."
Without wasting time, I led the boys to a nearby river. "Why are you bringing us to a river?" Eman asked curiously.
"Clean your hands, Eman. You need to return home, and you can't go back with them covered like that."
"Shit, alright!" Eman replied, realizing the need of cleaning up before facing his family.
After washing our hands in the river, I instructed Eman to sprint back home while Darjan and I found a rock to sit on, peacefully watching the water flow.
Before Eman left, I entrusted him with my AirPods and instructed him to stay on call with me while speaking to the police.
When Eman finally arrived home, his heart pounded as he noticed the imposing figures of the police men appearing inside the front door. Their stern expressions made it clear that they meant business.
"Where were you?" they demanded in a commanding voice, leaving no room for evasion.
Feeling a surge of fear, Eman tried to muster his wits and responded with a hint of subservience, "I was overwhelmed by your presence and panicked, so I ran away. I deeply apologize for my actions." He instinctively lowered his head slightly in a gesture of submission.
"Why did you decide to come back then?" the officer inquired further, trying to get to the bottom of the matter.
Eman skillfully avoided a direct answer, "Officer, I sincerely apologize. Since I was a child, I've been subjected to constant brainwashing about how police officers are dangerous. I was genuinely scared, and my fear got the better of me."
You might wonder, "Why is Eman suddenly so skilled at deception and acting?" Well, the truth is, he may not be great at lying, but he excels at following instructions. Throughout the entire questioning, I was guiding him discreetly through the phone, providing him the exact response and body language to use.
After sometime, Eman's phone call cut, and it was a signal that he was 'safe'. I hastily stood up from the cold, hard rock I had been sitting on and began making my way to his place, leaving Darjan sitting there, perplexed by my sudden departure.
As I arrived at Eman's doorstep, I knocked urgently, and soon he emerged from the house. His face was full of dread, which only deepened my concern.
Eman's parents, however, refused to let me enter the house, perhaps still worried about the police presence. So, together, Eman and I decided to head to a nearby playground, where we could have some privacy to discuss the situation.
"So, Eman, what did they say?" I asked, sitting down on the bench, my voice filled with both curiosity and anxiety.
"Bro, in a week's time, I've got a court hearing," Eman replied, sitting beside me and handing me back the AirPods I had given him.
My jaw dropped in disbelief. "What? But how? How could they possibly find anything?"
Eman's expression turned glum, and he looked down at the ground, searching for the right words. "They didn't find any drugs or anything like that," he began, "but do you remember the first real crime we did? The one where we robbed a man and left him disabled?"
I nodded, memories of that reckless venture flooding my mind.
"Well, they found solid evidence linking me to that crime," he admitted, his voice heavy with guilt and fear.
I was stunned. "What?! That's not fucking possible! I took every precaution, so we don't get caught. How?!"
Eman's shoulders sagged, burdened by the weight of uncertainty. "I don't know, bro. I guess we'll find out in court," he replied somberly, his future now hanging by a thread.
With a sigh, I grabbed Emans shoulder, "Eman, Don't worry, you know me better than any of my men, I'll never let you down." I said with a wide smile.
Though my words brought some temporary relief to Eman's troubled expression, deep down, I knew that my promises could only do so much. The reality was that I didn't have any concrete solutions to save him from potential jail time.
Nonetheless, I continued talking with him, offering reassurances and trying to keep his spirits up. Eman shared with me the specifics of the court date, which was scheduled for the following Wednesday, just a couple of days away. As the weight of the situation sunk in, we both understood the seriousness of what lay ahead.
After our conversation, I rose from the bench and walked home, leaving Eman behind seated in deep thought. His future was uncertain, and I wished there was more I could do to help.
In the days leading up to the court date, I received a summons from the court to testify as I was the last person who saw Lenart before he was attacked. We also managed to sell another batch of ecstasy, adding $20,000 to my funds. However, as Wednesday approached, the tension in the air became large. The looming court date was a constant reminder of the potential repercussions Eman faced for his actions.
The day finally arrived, and Eman had to face the consequences of his choices.
I murmured to myself as I woke up early on Wednesday, "Finally, after days of waiting, I can figure out how they found out." I had convinced myself that my plan had been flawless and the execution impeccable, so the revelation that someone had discovered our actions came as a shock.
