Chapter 309: Chapter 306: Losing Hope

She hung her head in silence for a long time until her uncle arrived.

Aunt Claire Hue suggested the three of them go out for dinner. She didn’t refuse, nor did her aunt.

But they stayed quite far from her while walking.

As if she carried a plague, making people avoid her.

At the restaurant, her aunt picked up the menu and started ordering dishes. Claire Hue saw they were all spicy and quickly said, "Order some lighter dishes."

"Since when do you like eating lighter food?" her aunt glanced at Claire Hue.

"Elliana is having her period," said Claire.

Her aunt then looked at her; usually kind-faced, her aunt seemed completely different, like she had turned into another person.

"Why do you care about her? It’s not like she can’t eat it; it’s not going to kill her."

...

When the dishes arrived, the spicy pepper aroma was already a bit overwhelming, and almost the entire table was covered in spicy dishes, except for one bowl of cabbage soup which was light.

Elliana had nothing else and just drank a bowl of hot cabbage soup; if she ate those dishes, she was afraid her body couldn’t handle it.

"Who are you showing that face to?"

Her aunt’s voice sounded again. Claire Hue couldn’t hold back either and directly dropped her chopsticks, saying to her, "Elliana, you should go back and rest well, and don’t associate with these ungrateful and ignorant people anymore."

"I’m ungrateful? I’m ignorant? Claire, whose side are you on?" her aunt retorted, pointing at her, and continued, "Wasn’t it her who harmed Xixi, and made Mom so angry like this? How did Third Sister die? Second Sister said she was angered by her, and then got into a car accident! She’s a jinx! I was wrong about her before!"

The voice was loud, filling the room, and her aunt’s sobbing followed soon.

Crying helplessly, sadly, to the point she could hardly breathe.

It was time for her to leave.

If she didn’t come, everyone would be fine.

She left the restaurant directly and quickly returned to the car.

When she arrived at the Moonlake Villas entrance, she asked the driver to keep driving up the road.

She wanted to go to the top of the mountain for a look.

The Moonlake resident saw her and drove up as well.

Finally, the two white cars stopped at the mountaintop observatory.

The wind at the top was a bit strong, so Elliana didn’t get out of the car. Luna came from the back car, opened the door, and sat inside.

Seeing her just staring blankly out of the window, Luna didn’t speak and quietly watched her.

After a long time, Luna finally asked, "How is your grandma?"

Elliana replied, "She hasn’t woken up yet."

Her tone was somewhat cold, emotionless, and calm, like a robot speaking.

"She will wake up," Luna said.

These words were meant as comfort; Luna wasn’t really good at comforting people.

"Do you... want me to hug you?" She tentatively asked.

She hadn’t seen Elliana so quiet before; so quiet like a mannequin, eyes bright yet vacant.

After a long pause, Elliana still only gazed out the window, following her line of sight.

Wind, tree tops, birds, white clouds.

Nothing special, yet quite beautiful.

Luna moved closer to Elliana and eventually embraced her waist, resting her chin on Elliana’s shoulder, gazing outside together.

Just like that, a long time passed until Luna’s arm went numb and she couldn’t move it, and it was already dark.

The night fell so quickly.

She didn’t expect to accompany her watching the scenery for so long.

"Buddy, don’t be like this, get better, alright?"

Seeing Elliana like this, Luna suddenly felt a bit panicked.

Helpless, she decided to send Norman Bennett a message.

The signal here was unexpectedly poor.

Luna: "Norman Bennett, your wife at the mountaintop is having a crisis."

Sent.

Luna: "She doesn’t speak and ignores others."

Sending failed.
