The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 184: Stripping for You
Vera wanted to curse inwardly. ’What is all this about! Is he taking advantage of the situation?’
In the end, she said nothing, just fretting internally. A bicycle was a major possession for her family, and if she lost it, Rona Langdon would surely chew her out when she got home.
Seeing her expression, Nathaniel understood. He took her hand and led her in the direction of Mr. Sterling’s house.
Vera finally got a good look at him. He was wearing only a tank top and long pants. The wet top clung to his skin, revealing the lines of his body perfectly. His chest muscles were firm and compact—not overly developed, but radiating power. Further down were his abs. Although she couldn’t quite make out a sexy V-cut, she could easily imagine it from what she saw.
She silently admired his amazing physique. He leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "Like what you see?"
Vera froze, her face flushing slightly. She neither nodded nor shook her head, pretending not to have heard him. He added, "If you want a better look, just say the word. I can get naked for you anytime."
Vera: "..."
She took a deep breath and asked, "Why are you back?"
"I missed you, so I came back." Nathaniel raised an eyebrow at her. "Did you miss me?"
Vera’s face grew even redder. Although his aloof, ice-cold persona had already shattered in her mind, she still couldn’t quite handle his directness and continued to play deaf.
Nathaniel frowned. Vera quickly changed the subject, turning to Corinne Walsh. "Mrs. Walsh, let me help you with Lana!"
Corinne Walsh smiled and nodded. As Vera hurried over, Nathaniel’s eyebrows practically knitted themselves into a knot.
Once they reached the Walsh family’s home, Vera saw that her clothes were mostly dry, with only her sleeves a bit damp from rescuing Lana. Nathaniel, however, was soaked through.
Mr. Sterling was a little shorter than Nathaniel, so his clothes wouldn’t have fit. He seemed rather embarrassed, but Nathaniel simply made a phone call. A few moments later, Ronan Tate arrived carrying a large bag.
Nathaniel opened the bag, took out his own clothes, and then handed a dress to Vera. "Change into this. I’ve only been gone for a few days, and you’ve already let yourself look like a country bumpkin."
Vera’s lip twitched. She had left in a hurry today and hadn’t bothered to dress up, just grabbing the first outfit she found. How did that translate to "country bumpkin" in his book? ’I thought I looked perfectly fine!’ she fumed internally.
After they had both changed clothes, Mr. Sterling briefly explained to Corinne Walsh who Nathaniel and Vera were. Upon hearing the story, she was just as relieved and grateful as her husband.
Mr. Sterling emerged from his study with a Chicken Blood Stone seal and handed it to Vera. "Words can’t express my gratitude," he said. "In the future, if either of you ever need anything carved, please come to me. I will put forth my utmost effort to create the best possible work for you."
Vera smiled. "Mr. Sterling, you’re too kind. I believe anyone would have stepped in to help if they’d been here today."
"But not everyone has the ability to," Mr. Sterling sighed. "This river was dredged for sand the year before last, and it’s become terrifyingly deep. If it weren’t for Nathaniel, no one would have dared to go in the river to save Lana today."
Vera finally understood why so many people had been watching, yet not a single one had stepped in to help.
Mr. Sterling added, "And even if someone had managed to pull Lana out, without your first aid, she might not have died, but she could have suffered permanent brain damage."
Corinne Walsh had already told him what had happened. The more he thought about it, the more he was gripped by a lingering fear, and the more grateful he felt.
P.S. Sorry, everyone. Only two updates today. It’s bad enough that this trash author has a fever again, but now my little one at home is running a fever too. I could just cry...
