Chapter 185: I Like You Even More

Chen Xueru let out a soft laugh. She thought for a moment: "Su Ran, didn’t Nuan Nuan tell you? Tang Shuwen and I have a child. He’s your good brother."

Su Ran’s lips curved into a smile, and he looked at her with approval: "You didn’t have to say anything. You could have waited until I was deeply involved, and by then, I wouldn’t have been able to extricate myself. Why did you say it?"

"I don’t have that kind of vanity. Although I’ve never experienced being pursued, I don’t want to mislead anyone," Chen Xueru said sincerely. "Su Ran, since you know, I won’t say more."

They both understood each other’s situations.

Su Ran smiled. Ye Feimo had told him a little about Tang Shuwen and Chen Xueru’s affair. To be honest, he was quite taken aback to learn she was Tang Shuwen’s woman. However, Chen Xueru’s demeanor impressed him even more.

She could have easily pretended he didn’t know, perhaps even used him to achieve her own goals. Whatever she desired, he could give her, but she didn’t.

She confessed everything to him so quickly.

In this day and age, it was truly rare to meet such a genuine woman, especially one who had navigated the entertainment industry for years.

She had seen all the grime, been suppressed, been humiliated, yet still managed to live so authentically. Su Ran truly admired her.

The car arrived at Chen Xueru’s apartment building, a twelve-story structure. Chen Xueru lived on the sixth floor. He opened the car door for her. Chen Xueru’s legs felt weak, and she stumbled a few steps. Su Ran quickly steadied her, holding her intimately until she regained her balance.

"Be careful."

"Thank you!" frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

Su Ran held her shoulders. These delicate shoulders had carried too much, making them so slender, yet so resilient. He truly liked her. Perhaps saying it was love at first sight at the cinema was a bit of an exaggeration.

But having met her and spent a few hours together, he was truly quite smitten.

"Xueru, you know, your honesty just now made me like you even more. I’m even more certain that this heart beating for you isn’t by chance or impulse. I know about you and Shuwen, though not much. I won’t steal my brother’s woman. But you don’t like him, and he doesn’t like you. A child isn’t an issue. I can compete with him fairly, can’t I?"

Chen Xueru was stunned. Su Ran smiled like a gentleman and kissed her forehead: "Although I’m cynical, I never make promises. Once I make a promise, I’ll definitely keep it."

Under the streetlights, Su Ran was handsome and dashing, with an elegant demeanor. The moonlight cast a gentle glow upon him, making him seem like a prince from a fairytale, refined and graceful.

He was a wonderful man.

The evening breeze blew, and her body alternated between hot and cold, her mind clearing. Chen Xueru said calmly, "Su Ran, I want to tell you, I might not be able to give you the return you desire. For me, my son is my everything. His wishes are my wishes. You also know that the Tang family wants me to marry Tang Shuwen, and Tang Shuwen doesn’t object. My son really hopes I marry him and give him a home, so, I’m sorry."

Su Ran smiled softly: "Why reject me so completely?"

"Sorry!"

"You should leave yourself a way out. I can be your support," Su Ran said earnestly. Being so utterly rejected after falling for a woman for the first time, Young Master Su was deeply saddened.

*Heartbroken, truly.*

"This wouldn’t be fair to you; you’d find out sooner or later," Chen Xueru said. She couldn’t bring herself to give someone false hope, making them wait in vain, knowing it was impossible.

"But is it fair to you?"

"I think it’s very fair. No matter what happens in the future, Tang Shuwen at least gave me a little angel who saved my life. Whether it’s a repayment or giving my son a complete home, I think it’s very fair. It doesn’t matter." She smiled. "Su Ran, actually, friends can also be each other’s support."

"Have you thought it through, leaving no room for negotiation?" Su Ran teased. "Don’t come crying to me later, because I won’t look back then."

Chen Xueru smiled brightly and nodded.

Su Ran opened his arms, sighing: "Miss Chen, come on, give a heartbroken man a hug."

Chen Xueru embraced him openly.

Su Ran held her tightly, somewhat reluctant to let go: "I truly like you so much."

"Thank you for liking me so much," Chen Xueru said with a smile. Su Ran got into his car, waved goodbye to her, and made a gesture for calling. Chen Xueru nodded, and only then did Su Ran drive away.

She let out a sigh of relief. Her body felt even hotter. *She hadn’t drunk anything strange, had she?* Chen Xueru remembered the cocktail and cursed softly. *What a miscalculation!* Just as she turned to go upstairs, she saw Tang Shuwen standing grimly in front of her.

She paused slightly, clutching her collar. She always felt an inexplicable fear when she saw him, instinctively shrinking back. Tang Shuwen strode purposefully towards her, his expression utterly grim, and suddenly grabbed Chen Xueru’s hand, pulling her into the apartment.

"Tang Shuwen, what are you doing?" Chen Xueru exclaimed, trying to shake him off, but he pulled her forward relentlessly. Once in the elevator, she tried even harder to break free from Tang Shuwen, but his grip was too tight; she simply couldn’t escape him.

"Let go of me!" The heat in her body hadn’t subsided, and being grabbed so forcefully by him made Chen Xueru feel somewhat uncomfortable, her face flushing even deeper.

Finally reaching the sixth floor, Tang Shuwen coldly eyed her: "Open the door!"

Chen Xueru stood stubbornly, refusing to open the door.

Tang Shuwen suddenly pulled her into an embrace, then spun and shoved her against the wall, making Chen Xueru feel a bit dizzy. Just as she was about to get up, a shadow fell over her, and Tang Shuwen fiercely kissed her lips.

Chen Xueru’s face turned pale with shock. She waved her hands, hitting his shoulders. Tang Shuwen was unfazed; these blows were nothing to him, causing him no pain or sensation at all.

"Ugh..." She parted her lips to speak, but he had already invaded her mouth. Tang Shuwen forced Chen Xueru to endure his sudden kiss. The man who was usually gentle was now utterly domineering, allowing her no resistance, ruthlessly plundering her sweetness.

Suddenly, Tang Shuwen pulled back, his lips bitten by Chen Xueru, blood seeping out. His eyes flashed with a hint of bloodlust. Chen Xueru began to feel a chilling fear, afraid that Tang Shuwen would hit her.
