The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 75: Tearing Up Her Money, Tearing Up Her Pride
The ball rolled to Shawn Thorne’s feet, hitting his shoes.
He looked down at the woman in the water, the lake waves lapping layer upon layer against her.
Yelena Hughes’s skin was a cold pale, and under the light, she looked radiant and captivating, her beauty was soul-stirring, uncontrollable.
Jasper Yale lightly clenched his jaw, watching her swim ashore, ascending the long ladder that was laid down.
Madeline Forest immediately wrapped a coat around her shoulders as soon as she came up.
"Yelena, you scared me to death, are you okay?"
Yelena Hughes tightened the coat, her lips chattering in the cold, her gaze fixed on Shawn Thorne as she stretched out her hand, "Master Thorne, fulfill your promise."
"You..."
Such courage!
Fearless even in death.
Yelena Hughes’ bare feet left a trail of water stains on the deck. Shawn Thorne felt a pressure in his chest, barely pulling the corners of his mouth.
"Can you not be so frightening? If you died here tonight, I would be responsible."
"Rest assured, Master Thorne, I have a strong life."
Madeline Forest’s eyes were red with concern, how was it strong life, Yelena Hughes was obviously too exhausted to stand, she reached to hold her, inadvertently touching her arm, it was ice-cold.
Shawn Thorne had a check brought over, Yelena Hughes watched him fill in the numbers, stroke by stroke.
"Master Thorne, you’ve found quite the woman."
"Yeah, quite spirited."
Not at all like those pampered and pretentious types they usually showed off.
"Has Master Thorne played with her? If you’ve had enough, mind if I try?"
Shawn Thorne’s hand paused while writing, his gaze turned fierce, "You want to die?"
"Master Thorne hasn’t secured her yet?"
The wind was strong, each word blowing into Yelena Hughes’s ears.
She was soaked all over, only wanting to take the money and leave quickly, her legs feeling weak, struggling to support herself.
Shawn Thorne finished writing the check and handed it over.
Yelena Hughes quickly took it in hand, her fingers wet, fearing she’d ruin it, she vigorously wiped them on her clothes.
Holding it close to her eyes, she checked it, five hundred thousand, not a penny short, she counted the zeros, overjoyed.
She felt tonight was truly worth it, half of her debts cleared just like that.
The smile at the corner of her mouth hadn’t fully spread before suddenly her hand slackened.
The check was snatched away, she looked up in shock to see Jasper Yale standing coldly before her.
He tore the check in half, and then continued tearing.
The sound of ripping was especially jarring, Yelena Hughes reached out to grab.
But quickly, Jasper Yale threw the check at her face, the shredded paper caught by the wind, scattered away.
"No," Yelena Hughes reached out to catch, watching as they fell into the nearby lake, she grasped at empty air.
"Can you take this money?"
Why shouldn’t she take it, is it disgraceful?
Yelena Hughes stepped closer to Jasper Yale in agitation, "I earned this."
"Yelena Hughes," the man’s handsome face was filled with fury, he pulled her over, gripping her shoulders to turn her around, "Look at these men, see how they see you?"
She knew, most of them had ill intentions.
Yelena Hughes shrugged her shoulders free, "Why should I care about others’ opinions?"
"They all want to sleep with you!"
Yelena Hughes turned, her clothes nearly slipping off her shoulders, her expression also darkening.
"So what?"
"So... what?"
Her mouth was truly adamant, Jasper Yale feared he would lose control, and directly use force.
"Is Young Master Yale noble? You don’t want to sleep with me? Besides, that’s your thoughts, what’s it to me? Give me the money."
The cold wind hit her face, under the dark and cold night sky, Jasper Yale exuded sharpness.
Seemingly violent, he seemed to have a madness fiercer than a beast gradually being awakened.
"You still want money?"
"Why not?" she was almost desperate, shouting at him, "I deserve this."
Five hundred thousand!
It’s not fifty bucks, it means pulling Yelena Hughes from the brink of the abyss to the edge, she was so close to release.
"Give it to me!"
At this moment, her expression was fierce, not one bit demure or gentle.
Madeline Forest was also shocked, her nose souring, wanting to pull her back, "Yelena, don’t be like this. This is Young Master Yale..."
"That doesn’t mean he can tear up my money." Yelena Hughes pushed Madeline Forest away, hoping Shawn Thorne would help.
"Master Thorne, write me another one."
Shawn Thorne saw the sadness slowly emerge in her eyes, "Can you?"
His heart was moved, even feeling they were too harsh, bullying her like this.
Shawn Thorne’s throat shifted, but beside him Jasper Yale wasn’t acting right tonight, determined to make her suffer.
"Do you dare!"
His words were filled with threat, Shawn Thorne’s eyelids twitched, "This money’s from me, you don’t have to pay."
Jasper Yale’s mouth drew into a cold smile, "Alright, try it, I don’t mind. But then Master Thorne...don’t blame me for being too ruthless."
None of those around dared utter a sound.
In their eyes, Young Master Yale was aloof and absolute, arrogance and defiance coexisted, not to be provoked, though his emotions were not usually displayed.
Not like now, with spikes all over.
Shawn Thorne also felt this was a tricky situation, offending Jasper Yale was not wise.
He shrugged his shoulders, saying to Yelena Hughes, "Don’t blame me, I gave it to you, it’s your own fault you didn’t hold it well."
Jasper Yale turned to leave, Yelena Hughes hesitated for a moment, but quickly caught up.
She ran barefoot across the ground, stopping in front of him, arms spread to block him, "Give me the money before you go."
"Yelena Hughes, you’ve completely abandoned your dignity, haven’t you?"
"I don’t care what you say, give me the money."
Jasper Yale’s shadow cast over Yelena Hughes, "No."
She approached somewhat frantically, pushing him, "How dare you tear it up, give it to me, it’s my money..."
Yelena Hughes shoved repeatedly, Jasper Yale retreated two steps, but she collided with him again.
She heard Hailey Jenkins call out from afar, "Young Master!"
Soon followed by a splash.
Yelena Hughes stood there as the water splashed on her foot, she saw everyone looking flustered, "Oh no, Young Master’s fallen into the water."
Shawn Thorne turned his head, staring straight at her, "How many lives did you gamble with today?"
Madeline Forest was the first to react, ran over to grab Yelena Hughes’s arm, "Come on, let’s run quickly."
When Jasper Yale gets up, he certainly won’t spare her.
Yelena Hughes stood still, stubbornly, her tone just as hard.
"I won’t leave, I want to get the money."
So much money, how can it just disappear?
When Jasper Yale shook water off at the lake’s edge, his gaze was cold to the bone, his hair was combed back, water cascading down his body.
He walked step by step towards Yelena Hughes.
She fixed her expression, meeting his gaze.
Jasper Yale walked past her, "Bring her inside for me!"
