The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 51: Anyone’s Fair Game Except Her
Jasper Yale grabbed Shawn Thorne’s nape and punched him.
He crashed into the nearby wall, pressing his hand against the corner of his mouth, his teeth aching as if they were about to fall out.
Jasper reached out to turn the doorknob, but it wouldn’t budge.
He looked to the side; the memory lock was broken. Jasper slapped the glass, "Yelena Hughes!"
She was so startled that her ears rang. She struggled to open her eyes, the glass was fogged up. Yelena wiped it with her hand, and her face became much clearer.
Jasper took a couple of steps back and kicked the door, but it didn’t move an inch.
Madeline Forest stood outside crying and shouting, but her voice was so faint, it was as if Yelena’s ears were stuffed with cotton; she couldn’t hear anything.
"Yelena, hold on, quickly... get out!"
Yelena’s legs weakened, and she had no strength left.
She propped one hand on the doorknob and used her fingers to write on the glass, but Jasper couldn’t make it out at all.
Yelena reached into her pocket and took out a lipstick.
She twisted it open, pressed it against the glass. She hadn’t even started drawing when the lipstick broke because it was too hot.
Hailey Jenkins got the people she brought to help. Jasper’s expression was cold, as if he had just been through a storm.
He punched the glass, "Whatever you have to say, wait until you come out."
Yelena’s eyelids felt heavy as if they weighed a ton. She started drawing a horizontal line on the glass with the lipstick, each stroke excruciatingly slow.
Jasper leaned in closer and called her name. Yelena’s fingers were trembling and the words were hard to read.
Sweat dripped down like rain over her lashes, stinging her eyes terribly.
A big red ’medicine’ character appeared on the glass.
Yelena pointed at it with her finger and said with all her might, "My sister’s medicine can’t be stopped."
Even if she died, she couldn’t drag Anne Hughes down with her.
The words had barely been written when they started to melt, like crying blood, streaks of red dripping down, imprinting on Yelena’s exceptionally pale face.
Jasper didn’t expect that he’d feel such heartache.
His heart twisted and turned in pain.
Hailey led the charge against the door, while Jasper pounded on the glass with his fists, "You want medicine, right? Okay, I’ll get it for you as soon as you come out..."
Yelena heard it, but her body couldn’t hold on, she fell back with a thud, plunging into darkness in the blink of an eye.
The moment the door was forced open, hot air poured out, its scorching sensation palpable on their skin.
Jasper went in to pick her up; Yelena’s body was drenched, and as soon as he held her, his clothes were soaked as well.
He handled her with extreme care, fearing that just a little more force might make her dissolve in his arms.
Yelena’s head rested against his chest; if she were still conscious, she would surely hear his quickening heartbeat.
Jasper carried her outside and bent down, laying her on the sofa.
He gently patted her face, "Yelena Hughes?"
She only had weak breathing, with slight chest heaves. Jasper’s gaze scanned to the coffee table, where an ice bucket stood, but most of the ice had melted.
He grabbed it single-handedly and splashed the remaining water across Yelena’s face.
She was startled by the cold, the icy water gushed into her nostrils and mouth. Yelena tried to breathe urgently but choked in her throat.
She started coughing violently; the noise around her was disconcerting, filled with sounds of crying.
Madeline Forest was crying as if Yelena had already died.
Someone was helping Yelena up, a hand gently patting her back. Her eyelids drooped, and she could hear Madeline bawling piteously.
"Yelena, you absolutely must not die; what would I do if you died?"
Jasper’s paused the hand patting her, "If you can’t keep quiet, then get out."
Yelena forced her eyes open but saw Madeline Forest’s arm, bloodied and torn, "Madeline, what happened to your hand?"
Her first instinct was to notice and be concerned about someone else.
Jasper cupped her face with both hands, making her look at him.
Yelena’s face was still red, like a boiled shrimp just lifted from the water, her thick eyelashes fluttering, "Why did you come?"
"Lucky for you, your brain hasn’t been boiled."
Yelena’s face was still scorching. Hearing Madeline stifling her sobs, she wanted to look over.
But Jasper held her face in place, not allowing her to move even a fraction, "Do you love money so much? For a measly gain, would you forsake your own life?"
Yelena frowned slightly, covering Jasper’s wrist with her hand, trying to pull away but couldn’t.
She repeated the motion a few times, a hint of anger beginning to show in her eyes.
"Sir, do you think this Master Thorne was my doing? As long as I stay at The Sovereign Club, I’ll inevitably fall into his hands. Haven’t you ever considered that point? No, you simply don’t care whether I live or die."
Yelena spoke so many words in one breath; the air in her chest had been entirely squeezed out.
She felt a sharp pain in her chest but still continued with a pale face, "Sir, do you ever wonder why an egg can’t win against a stone in a head-on clash?"
Jasper had no time to engage in such meaningless discussion, "Shut up."
Already so weak, yet still talking.
Yelena started gasping for breath, speaking with a tinge of self-mockery. "Because stones are born to be stones. They’re sharp, tough, capable of attacking all they disapprove of. Sir, you’re a stone too."
She shivered with cold after being splashed with icy water.
Jasper removed his jacket and wrapped it around her.
With fingers pressing the corner of his mouth, Shawn Thorne stepped forward, "Sir, fighting over a lady like this isn’t worth it, is it?"
Jasper stood up, the rustle of his clothes crisp and firm, "Didn’t I tell you before? Anyone’s fair game, just don’t mess with her?"
"Did you?"
Shawn, who had never been hit in his life, felt disoriented. The once-proud face was now bruised. How would he face the world after this? "I was just trying to scare her, not kill her."
He was held back by Jasper, but he was banking on Jasper’s casual attitude, believing he wouldn’t care much about this woman.
Their families had business ties and were lifelong associates. Shawn, who always got his way, considered staying silent after taking a punch the biggest concession he could offer.
Jasper going to such lengths for a ’lady’ was enough.
Shawn’s attention fell on Madeline, staring at her bloodied arm, and he suddenly understood, "Was it you who ratted out?"
Madeline was caught off guard and stared in terror, "I... No, it wasn’t me."
Admitting it meant certain death for her; everyone knew Shawn was like a mad dog.
Yelena shivered all over, Madeline’s bloodied arm gut-wrenchingly visible to her, making her feel dizzy for a moment, but she immediately pieced everything together.
Madeline had a few deep bite marks, making Yelena immediately think of the two Tibetan Mastiffs at The Summit Gardens.
Shawn seized Madeline’s arm with one hand, and turned to Yelena with a sly smile.
"Sir, didn’t you say anyone’s fair game except for Mimi? You can’t go back on your word."
Yelena almost immediately tried to stand up, "No!"
