The Broken Halo-Chapter 73: For The Abyss
"He’s just like us. He’s a Daemon."
Merath could not but recall Simon’s sky blue eyes which contained not a single bit of fear or anxiety.
Although they were in a safe zone back then, every single candidate she had encountered was always anxious of their surroundings.
They were never truly calm like Simon.
"He’s handsome and his eyes were truly beautiful." She mumbled underneath her breath, causing Jorra’s lips to twitch.
He shook his head slightly. "Actually, he’s just slightly like us. He’s still far away from being like us."
Merath remained silent and just stared at the corpse in front of her for a few seconds, then she smiled.
"I know that. He has only awakened a fraction of his Daemon bloodline, but it still makes him one of us."
Jorra shook his head. "I disagree with you. He’s weak and his Daemon bloodline does not widen the gap enough between Daemons and Demons... Besides, he’s a mixed breed and his second bloodline is even more disgusting to perceive than his weak Daemon bloodline."
Merath looked in a particular direction. Her pupils constricted, then the world zoomed in and she saw a crystal clear image of Simon fighting a wolf-like beast with his claws.
"I don’t know how he was able to transform his bloodline to that of a Daemon, but awakening the second bloodline is going to be more difficult and painful. Should we help him? There’s something about him that just draws me to him. I feel he’s special."
Jorra vehemently shook his head and glared at Merath who was looking at him with puppy eyes.
"Absolutely not. We can’t waste our precious and limited resources on a child who has not even fully awakened his Daemon bloodline. Besides..."
He looked in Simon’s direction with slightly narrowed eyes.
"...There’s something about him that reminds me of those damned gods."
Merath’s eyes widened slightly.
"You too? I thought my senses were wrong and inaccurate because of my current realm."
Jorra shook his head. "You’re not wrong. But, it’s just a feeling and nothing concrete, so we can’t come to any conclusion." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Merath nonchalantly shrugged. "Well, I guess we’ll just be on the lookout for him, but we have to be careful. That Veilmaster was suspecting and observing us for quite a long time. It might only be a matter of time before the others start suspecting us."
Jorra nodded. "I know that. Our main goal is that child with the Shadow Monarch’s Daemon Bloodline and the . I doubt he has fully awakened the bloodline, but he must have awakened far more than this Blackmoon."
Snap!
The sound of a branch snapping in two was like thunder to the ears of the duo, and they saw a Prime Dire Beast with the appearance of a bear with extremely black fur step out of the bushes and approach them.
The Dire Beast had perceived the scent of blood, and it was drawn to it. For some strange reason, the beast’s instincts did not warn it when it was in the presence of both Jorra and Merath.
Growl
It growled at the duo, and Jorra released an annoyed sigh.
"Seeing how far these beasts have fallen, and also how weak our descendants are... is disgusting to witness."
Merath’s eyes flashed with a crimson light, and she looked up at the dim crimson moon which was behind the black moon.
"The gods won back then and changed everything. They made it so that Daemons would never arise again, only these pathetic weaklings called Demons would live and never be able to match up to them."
ROAR!!!
The bear roared and ran toward them. It got close to Merath because it could sense that she was the weakest, then it stood on two legs and swiped its claws at her.
Merath stared at the bear with a calm and indifferent gaze, and Jorra merely stretched out his hand.
The bear froze.
"This is why we’re here. To look for those who have shattered the chains of the gods and awakened their true bloodline. The bloodline of the Daemons. We need to take back what is ours from the gods, and only Daemons can do that. Not these inferior versions called Demons."
"You’re right." Merath pointed her finger and touched the bear’s forehead.
Her nails became longer and turned blood red, and her eyes turned crimson.
"The Daemons would return and the Gods would tremble once again."
The bear whimpered and fear could be seen in its eyes as the alarm bells of its instincts exploded in full force.
How did he not know that he had been going in the direction of these monsters?
If the bear could make proper thoughts, this would have been the last thought it had before its eyes, brain, and every single organ in its body imploded.
Thud
The bear instantly died, and its corpse fell to the ground.
If one were to look at the bear, they’d be confused because the bear’s corpse was still intact.
The only odd part would be the bear’s torso which appeared slightly shrunken and the bear’s eyes which appeared hollow.
Merath stared at the corpse with an indifferent gaze, then she lowered her hand and looked to the crimson moon once again.
Her eyes flashed with a multitude of emotions, then a few seconds later, she looked at Jorra.
"Let’s go. We have a lot to do for the Abyss."
Jorra nodded. "For the Abyss."
Both of them vanished a second later with the corpses vanishing along with them.
Meanwhile, in another location that was far away from the duo, Simon stood in front of the corpses of six wolves with claw marks on their bodies.
These six wolves were Prime Lesser Beasts, and Simon stared at them for a few seconds before crouching before the three corpses.
He brought out his condensed shadow essence, and when he touched each of the corpse with the condensed shadow essence, the corpses were pulled into the tiny marble.
"Hmm. Quiet convenient. I wonder what it is though, there was nothing like this in the past."
Rustle
The sound of leaves rustling drifted into his ears, and Simon released a relieved sigh.
’Finally.’
Simon calmly stood and turned around with his hands in his robe.
A few seconds later, a group of six appeared before him with an annoyingly familiar face standing right in front of the group.
"We meet again, lowly mixed breed."
