The Broken Halo-Chapter 54: Eight
Before he faced the gaze of the Basilisk and forced an evolution of his bloodline in an unknown way, Simon already knew that his bloodline was going to be a Lesser Bloodline.
Although he was not so knowledgeable about the path of demons, he had killed an uncountable number of them in his past life, and he had also studied some of them.
His knowledge and experience made him to realize that his bloodline would at best be a Lesser Bloodline, but the question of the specific grade was something he didn’t know.
However, as he looked at the four crimson rings spinning around him, Simon’s entire attention was on his inner body and the fourth ring which was trying to form.
His expression was solemn, and he wondered in his heart if he would get a Common Bloodline.
A Common Bloodline was definitely not sufficient enough to achieve his ambitions, but in his current situation, he needed to have at least a Common Bloodline.
He was about to throw into a deadly test of the greatest assassin clan of the demon realm, and he was certain that some of his opponents would possess a Noble or maybe even a Royal bloodline.
A Common Bloodline was the bare minimum he needed to make his life a little bit easier, and he did not even blink as he stared at the slowly forming crimson ring.
’Come on. Come on. Form it. Form the fifth ring, damn it.’
As Simon stared at the slowly forming crimson ring with an intensity that could even startle the gods, his heartbeat suddenly got louder and heavier.
Simon felt the blood in his veins move at six times its normal speed, and it felt like he was about to explode into pieces, but he held on.
The veins protruding on his arms and neck turned indigo for a moment before it receded back to the normal red.
Badum!
Badum!
His heartbeat echoed across the room, then the fifth crimson ring formed above the four Lesser crimson rings.
Simon’s eyes flickered as he felt a sudden increase in his strength, but that was not all.
A sixth crimson ring later.
Then a seventh, and then an eighth.
Eight solid crimson rings floated around Simon, and the lights they all emitted painted the wall crimson.
The lights wanted to pass through the walls, but chaos runes lit up on the walls, preventing it from getting through.
If Simon was outside and without any sort of preparation, the light from the eight crimson rings would have lit up a kilometer wide radius, and his life would be in danger.
The crimson rings contained a dense amount of demonic energy that was meant for the demon undergoing his or her Coming of Age, but this demonic energy was also very useful to other demons and demon beasts.
If a Lesser Demon or a Fiend were to absorb the crimson rings, their demon hearts would experience a drastic increase in the demonic energy it contained.
Some might even advance by a level or two, and depending on the number of rings, the bloodline rank of the demon could also advance.
However, doing this came with its own terrible risks, and it was why demons rarely chose to do such a thing.
Only demon beasts acted on their instincts without reasoning.
Simon stared at the eighth crimson rings rotating around him, and a tinge of hope and surprise could be seen in his gaze.
Could he actually be lucky?
Could this be the one good thing amidst all the hardships he went through?
Simon shifted his gaze to the sky in anticipation, and even the Pallbearers who were watching his Coming of Age rite also had solemn expressions.
They were solemn because they had not expect Simon to have even gotten a bloodline that was not only at the Common rank but at the Supreme Grade.
A Supreme Common Bloodline was not enough to cause an uproar in their clan or in any organization that was greater than the Tribes.
However, a Supreme Common Bloodline was enough to place Simon on the same level as many of their members in terms of bloodline talent.
He would be amongst the average ranked assassins, but he would at the top of the average ranked assassins with his talent.
A Supreme Common Bloodline was not enough to shake their hearts, but they were shocked because they expected Simon to have a Superior Lesser Bloodline at best, not even a Supreme Lesser Bloodline.
They also had solemn expressions because they had not prepared for the awakening of a Noble Bloodline.
The difference between a Supreme Common Bloodline and a Minor Noble Bloodline was like night and day.
If they were not careful, the entire demon realm, especially the kingdoms and clans would be alerted to the birth of a Noble bloodline.
It would draw attention to them, and attention was the last thing the Shadowgrave Clan needed.
Fortunately for the Pallbearers, there was no movement from the Black Moon, and this caused some of them to heave sighs of relief.
The moment the Black Moon moved, it meant that Simon was on the verge of awakening a Noble Bloodline. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Unfortunately for Simon, it seemed like he was going to be stuck with a Supreme Common Bloodline for some time.
’I see now. If I had not been forced out of that space and I was able to claw at those massive serpentine eyes, my bloodline would have evolved to the Noble rank.’
’What I saw back then was related to cats, so it has something to do with my demon cat bloodline, but what of my one-horned demon bloodline?’
’How do I evolve the bloodline? I’m a hybrid with mixed bloodlines, and although I don’t know much bloodlines, I have a feeling that it’d be best if I find a way to evolve both bloodlines to the same rank.’
’Right now, the demon cat bloodline is my main bloodline while the one-horned demon bloodline is inferior.’
’The benefits I’m going to gain from my one-horned demon bloodline is going to be a lot less compared to the demon cat bloodline.’
Simon looked down with a contemplative expression. There was no hint of disappointment or sadness in his gaze, only calmness.
’Hmm. I really need information.’
Simon exhaled softly, then he waited for the next process in the awakening of his demon heart.
This process was ignored by many ignorant, lazy, and incapable demons.
But for Simon, it could make a drastic difference in the power he gains at the end of the day.
