The Black Necromancer-Chapter 228 Colorful Lizardmen (2)
The atmosphere was positively charged with energy as Leon and his summons emerged from the portal that led to the last floor of the Despair Dungeon. The floor was similar to the others that they had gone through before, with large bodies of murky water and all.
The only difference lay in the fact that the monsters that were supposed to be spread out through the floor were all gathered right in front of the gateway that transported them to the fiftieth floor.
"Whoa! What a welcoming committee!" Leon hummed in surprise as he saw the large number of monsters that filled the massive clearing.
Without even waiting for a beat, the monsters let out a collective screech of anger and rushed forward to engage Leon and his summons. It actually took him a few moments to react, but his summons were already reacting to the sudden charge and display of hostility.
"Die!" Nero led the charge forward, glowing with red light as he transformed into a red knight. His excitement had triggered his Title effects, which only activated at night time. Within the dungeon, it was always night, so that requirement had already been ticked. He immediately clashed with the leading lizardman on the other side, a Peak B rank lizardman covered in dark green scales.
As his summons fought, Leon hung back for a moment, his eyes scanning through the crowd of monsters. His eyes were ablaze with mana as he searched for the monster with the strongest core. That would most likely be the boss.
But after a minute of searching, Leon was not able to find any sign of a significantly strong monster. He did find a few interesting champions, though. 𝒇𝑟𝐞𝐞w𝐞𝑏𝙣𝑜vℯl.co𝑚
Four interesting looking lizardmen weaved through the crowd, using both magic and other martial skills as they decimated any of Leon's summons they came across. When they were noticed by Leon's elites, however, they were immediately targeted.
Nero grunted as he crossed swords against a large lizardman that stood at nearly seven feet tall. The lizardman possessed dark green scales, and looked relatively bland and boring, except for the very eye catching line of glowing spikes that ran down its back. The webbed spikes glowed in five different colors. Red, green, blue, silver, and a startling black. However, despite the dark and alarming feeling emanating from the black, the most prominent glow on the spike trail was the red color.
A fiery red aura lit up around the lizardman, and around them, steam started to rise up as the water was evaporated. The lizardman had an affinity for fire!
"Graa!" The lizardman forced Nero's swords upwards and two fireballs lit up at its sides, shooting forward and striking Nero right in the center. The red armored summon was sent flying by the explosive force that had been generated from the spell.
Not too far away, Kaladin floated in the air as he faced a lizardman that had a great control over the wind element. It had been a bad move on Kaladin's part to rise up into the air, where he had then been pounced upon by the lizardman. He managed to keep his immediate surroundings under his control, but all around him, a mighty air current raged. Sparks and bolts of lightning could be seen crackling through the sky as a sign of their epic ongoing battle.
Down on the ground again, another intense battle was being waged between Grokus and the lizardman that specialized in the earth element. Blocks and pillars of earth rose and collapsed every passing moment as Grokus fought toe to toe with the lizardman. All his Sigils, even those he had begun to develop after becoming Leon's summon, were active and gunning at full power. All his tattoos were glowing brightly, and mana pulsed through the air around him.
As for the fourth lizardman, Nedra had taken it upon herself to deal with it, and she was doing very well. Leon had not paid attention to this, but Nedra's Water magic skill had risen to Intermediate grade. Whenever she was out and about, she took her time to practice her magic skills earnestly, and it was paying off very well.
With her control over water, she was able to cancel and nullify any of the watery spells that the lizardman threw at her with relative ease. Her massive form danced with grace across the battlefield as she batted aside the smaller lizardman. Even when the lizardman tried to use its smaller size to its advantage by trying to weave between Nedra's legs, her many legs were like spears from above that sought to skewer the lizardman.
Leon nodded his head with satisfaction. Everything was going well. The colorful quartet, Gold, Silver, Ruby, and Diamond, were doing well, fighting their own battles against equally powerful opponents on the battlefield.
But even though things seemed to be going well, Leon could not help the bad feeling that tried rising up in his gut.
"Don't pay attention to that bad feeling you are having. Its an effect of the dungeon." All of a sudden, Kai, who had been quiet all this while, spoke up from a step behind Leon. He had his eyes on Leon, and as if he could read Leon's mind, he addressed Leon directly.
Only after Kai warned him did Leon actually recall the fact that the Despair Dungeon had a subtle effect that made a person despair. His mind had been strong enough to shrug it off with ease all this while, so he had temporarily shoved it to the back of his mind. But it seemed the the effect was amplified on the last floor of the dungeon, and it was more subtle, so Leon did not notice it in the first place.
"I know." Leon turned and gave the young man a look. He could not feel any animosity coming from Kai. Instead, he felt a kind of resoluteness emanating from him. Kai had made peace with his loss and was not thinking of challenging Leon again.
