The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 13: Take it off
Chapter 13: Take it off
"Can I?" Zevian’s soft voice, almost a whisper, brought Evelyn back to reality. Her heart fluttered, realizing he was asking for permission, a mix of anxiety and anticipation tightening her chest. She nodded slightly, averting her eyes to hide her blush.
Zevian’s eyes flickered with hesitation as he held her cheek, the soft caress of his thumb sending a chill down Evelyn’s spine. As much as he wanted to kiss her, he didn’t want to rush the process. Taking things slowly and claiming her only when she was absolutely ready sounded rational. But the moment demanded it, and he decided to give a light peck.
Summoning his courage, Zevian leaned in and captured her lips. Evelyn’s breath hitched, a surge of electricity radiating through her, spreading from her lips to every corner of her body. Her eyes instinctively fluttered shut, and without thinking, she leaned closer and kissed him back.
Zevian’s eyes widened slightly in surprise, and the last shred of his rationality broke loose at her response. He deepened the kiss, his hand wrapping around her waist to pull her closer. His movements were slow and deliberate, teasing her with light pecks and nibbling on her lower lip.
Evelyn moaned softly, each touch sending a shiver down her spine. The sweet taste of his lips, the intoxicating scent of him, the way his touch set her skin ablaze—everything felt nostalgic, and all she cared about was not stopping at that moment.
The kiss that started as a sweet, gentle exploration grew more fervent and passionate. Zevian’s hand moved to cradle her head, angling her perfectly to deepen their connection further. Evelyn responded with equal intensity, her fingers threading through his hair, pulling him even closer. Their hearts pounded in sync, longing and suppressed desire overwhelming their senses, and they surrendered, melting into each other’s arms.
After a few precious seconds, when they were both breathless, they pulled back slightly, their foreheads still resting against each other. Evelyn’s eyes fluttered open, meeting Zevian’s midnight-black gaze. There was a mix of surprise and something deeper in his eyes, something that mirrored the emotions swirling within her.
A flush crept up Evelyn’s cheeks, her heart still racing as she tried to process what had just happened. What she had just done!
"You are crazy, Evelyn!" she cursed in her head, her mind unable to focus on anything but the sweet sensation of his lips.
The world around them slowly came back into focus, cheers and claps from the shocked guests forcing them to pull away from each other. Avery, standing at a distance, giggled softly, heightening Evelyn’s desire to dig a hole and bury herself.
As cheers continued to envelop them, Evelyn couldn’t shake the memory of the dreamy wedding she had once described to Zevian.
’As we finish kissing, you pick me up in your arms and abduct me to a world where it’s just you and me, far away from everyone.’
A yelp escaped her lips as Zevian suddenly scooped her into his arms, almost as if he had heard her thoughts. Instinctively, she clung to his neck, her widened eyes meeting his playful smirk. With a small, knowing smile, he adjusted her in his arms and walked purposefully toward the balcony exit, playfully fulfilling her fantasy.
The guests gasped in shock, their murmurs of surprise mingling with the fading echoes of applause. Avery, equally stunned, quickly instructed the staff to take care of the rest of the party and followed the couple out of the venue.
The journey to Zevian’s house was less embarrassing with Avery accompanying them in the car. Despite her chatter from the shotgun seat, Evelyn’s cheeks heated up whenever Zevian glanced at her.
They entered a beautiful two-story house with a big garden and a larger garage filled with cars. Evelyn wasn’t visiting this house for the first time, but her heart still raced as they got out of the car.
"There have been a lot of changes recently," Zevian commented as they walked to the brightly lit entrance, leading to a large, ceiling-to-floor wooden door.
Evelyn nodded in response, though she was the one who had actually made these changes before his return from abroad a few months ago. Soon, an elder woman wearing a black dress opened the door for them, a warm smile lifting her wrinkled face as she looked at her master and Evelyn.
"Master," she greeted with a bow. Evelyn guessed it must be Agatha, Kiana’s nanny, who had traveled everywhere with Zevian and had taken care of Kiana for the past three years. As Agatha curtsied with a smile, Evelyn responded with a small bow.
"Miss Kiana fell asleep waiting for you," Agatha briefed about the little girl who was so eager to see her new mommy but eventually fell asleep.
Zevian nodded and walked upstairs to take a look at her, while Avery showed Evelyn the guest room.
"There are my PJs in the cupboard. Change into them and freshen up; I will go arrange for dinner," Avery suggested, pointing to the wardrobe. Evelyn nodded, and Avery walked downstairs to the kitchen.
As Avery left the room, Evelyn sat on the bed and heaved a long sigh, feeling the weight of the entire day finally catch up to her. But her peace was short-lived, turning into a whirlwind of emotions when Zevian suddenly entered the room.
Zevian didn’t bother to greet her or at least inform her why he was there. Instead, he casually walked inside toward the counter. Evelyn noticed he had taken off his coat, leaving just a white shirt that perfectly hugged his well-defined physique.
Filling himself a glass of water, Zevian met her gaze, his eyes darkening with intensity. "Take it off," he commanded softly.
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat before it started pounding in her chest. His voice, soft yet commanding, echoed in her mind, and she felt a rush of heat to her cheeks as their eyes locked.
Evelyn’s breath caught in her throat when Zevian started drinking the water. She subconsciously gulped, her eyes zooming in on the way his Adam’s apple bobbed with each swallow, the veins on his hands, making the mundane act of drinking water appear unexpectedly charming. The glow of the room’s soft light accentuated his facial features, and for hell’s sake, she couldn’t look away.
"Wh-what do you mean?" Evelyn managed to utter, her voice barely above a whisper. She hadn’t expected things to escalate so quickly. Blame yourself for kissing him so passionately and giving the wrong signals, she thought, her heart racing as Zevian arched an eyebrow at her.
Placing down the glass, Zevian started walking toward her, his every step making Evelyn’s heart hammer against her chest. Heat rose to her cheeks as he loosened his tie, his expression conveying exactly what he meant.
Evelyn clutched the sheets, feeling the tension coil tightly within her as he reached the edge of the bed. She instinctively flinched back, her breath hitching in her throat as Zevian leaned down, bringing his face close to hers. Without warning, he slipped his hand beneath her gown’s slit and grasped her thigh, causing Evelyn’s heart to freeze.
Zevian smirked, clearly pleased by her reaction. Moving even closer, he leaned in, his breath warm and tingling her ear as he whispered, "I meant exactly what you’re thinking, sweetheart."
