The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!-Chapter 810: Lift It Now!
Extinguishing the fire caused by the explosives was no easy task. After all, everyone needed to remain cautious, as another bomb could still go off if there were more hidden around. But with so many people working tirelessly in the field for hours, they were certain they could put everything out in less than a full day.
Riding in the truck back to the holy grounds, Lola sorted through her thoughts to stop herself from focusing on the safe room. Otherwise, she might spiral.
When they neared the site, she snapped her eyes up and saw countless people moving through the thinning smoke of the crumbled buildings.
"..." Her lips pressed into a thin line as she stared at the ruins, the result of last night’s battle.
Just yesterday, the holy grounds had stood gloriously, with old buildings surrounding the entire landscape. Now, aside from the people, there were only ruins and smoke still rising into the air. To think it had been over eight hours since the explosion.
Massive vehicles used to move large debris were also present. She wasn’t surprised by how everything had been organized, considering the founding families were working together.
Once their truck stopped at a small camp in the distance, the first thing she heard was Penny’s voice.
"What is taking so long!?" Penny harrumphed. "Find everyone now! No—look for my husband first! I want to see if he’s dead or alive. If he’s dead, bring his skeleton to me so I can crush his bones! How dare he die and leave me a widow?! Leave me to raise four children—he’s the one who wanted the quadruplets!"
Lola jumped out of the truck and followed the voice, finding Penny fuming like a dragon. Several people surrounded her, their raised hands suggesting they were either trying to calm her down or stopping her from leaving.
As she drew closer, their remarks told Lola everything she needed to know.
"Miss Penny, please calm down," one man said worriedly. "You can’t drive the bucket loader. It’s still unsafe! Until they declare it is, we can’t touch anything!"
Penny’s eyes lit up, invisible flames engulfing her. "What?! Are you saying I’m going to run you all over with it? Aren’t you a little judgmental now?" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The men’s breaths hitched. They didn’t even question it. Penny would absolutely do something like that. She had done it before, and she would do it again.
Meanwhile, not far from them, sat Kiara.
She was motionless, her complexion pale, the bags under her eyes darker than usual. A blanket covered her shoulders, and she held a cup of coffee she hadn’t even sipped from.
Unlike Penny, who was breathing fire, Kiara simply sat there like a statue.
Lola paused, studying the two of them before sighing faintly.
"Come on. Let’s see if I can crush you with a bulldozer—"
"Penny," Lola called, stopping her from picking a fight.
Penny whipped her head toward Lola, her brows furrowing. "First Sister..."
Even Kiara blinked and turned to look at her.
Lola drew a deep breath and stopped beside Penny, then glanced at the men around them.
"I’ll talk to her," she said, noticing the reluctance in their eyes. "It’s alright. If she picks a fight with me, I’ll knock her out cold."
The men studied Lola before exchanging glances. When they looked back at Penny, she didn’t seem offended. Penny’s bias clearly knew no bounds.
Penny frowned as the men stepped away, though they stayed nearby just in case.
"First Sister," Penny asked, "what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in the hospital?"
Lola smiled subtly. "I’m not injured." She paused, studying Penny’s face up close.
Like Kiara, the bags under Penny’s eyes were darker than usual. Her eyelids were slightly swollen. Lola’s own swollen eyes had eased a little, though they were still visible. But her expression almost concealed both that and the sadness slowly consuming her.
"Did you rush here last night?" she asked.
Penny smacked her lips. "I would’ve lost my mind if I stayed in Anteca. Yugi said he’d look after my children."
"I see," Lola let out a shallow breath, nodding. Her eyes softened as she reached out and placed a hand on Penny’s head.
The gesture made Penny’s brows rise in surprise as she looked up at Lola.
"If you need to rest, then rest a little, okay?" Lola whispered. "I’ll handle it."
"First Sister..."
"You too, Ki," Lola said, glancing at Kiara with a small smile. "Take a rest if you can. I will... handle everything."
She nodded. "Whether they’re alive or not, I’ll make sure to bring their skeletons back if they’re still there... so we can crush them together."
Penny and Kiara were rendered speechless. Lola tapped Penny’s shoulder before walking past them.
As she moved away, both women watched her back.
"First Sister," Penny called softly, making Lola pause. "You..."
Her lips parted and closed as her shoulders sagged. Something about Lola felt... wrong. Lola was just too composed.
Before Penny could voice it, Kiara spoke first.
"First Sister... why do you sound like Atlas?"
It truly felt as if they were dealing with him. After all, Atlas had always been like this—even in moments like these.
Lola smiled faintly as she glanced back. "Because I’m his wife... and your First Sister. I can’t let my little sisters carry the burden, can I?"
"Take a rest for now," she added quietly. "I’ll check the situation."
With that, she resumed walking, leaving them staring after her.
"First Sister," Penny whispered, pressing her lips together before shouting, "First Sister, wait for me! I’ll—I’ll help!"
Kiara gulped and finally downed the cold coffee she hadn’t touched earlier. "Me too! Wait for me! I’ll cry if I’m alone!"
Soon, they joined Lola as she headed toward the main team. Henrik and Finn were already present, taking charge and allowing Lola to assist.
Almost two hours later, the fire was declared out, and the rescue team began moving blocks of concrete in search of the safe room. That was their priority—but with the ruins, it took time.
Before anyone noticed, the sun was about to set, and lights were already being prepared for overnight work.
Then, just as the sky turned a brilliant orange, a loud shout came through the radio placed on the table where everyone—Lola, Henrik, Finn, Penny, Allen, Kiara, Scarlet, and the others—had gathered.
"We found the safe room! Found it! Requesting backup to lift the block over it!"
Everyone’s breath hitched as they turned toward the walkie-talkie. Workers in the field began moving in one direction, along with the heavy vehicles meant to shift large debris from where the safe room was believed to be.
"Atlas," Lola breathed as she ran out of the tent.
"Madam Zorken—" Henrik winced as his side hurt, only to see everyone else rushing toward the site.
"It’s no use," Finn said, rising from his seat and following. "It’s the moment of truth—whether they reached that place... or not."
Henrik watched Finn for a second before forcing himself up and following.
Aside from the team working to hook the massive boulder above the safe room’s location, everyone else stood at a distance, watching.
"Lift it now!" someone shouted, signaling the crane operators.
Slowly, the boulder rose.
Once there was enough space, someone climbed over the surrounding rubble and looked down. As soon as he did, his eyes widened in shock.
"This..." he froze, his face going pale.
"Are they inside?!" someone shouted.
At the same time, Lola fearlessly climbed over the rubble without protective gear, ignoring the shouts behind her.
When she looked down, her breath hitched.
"No..." she whispered. "...way."
More people climbed up, and then they understood.
Inside were Draken, Baby, Hugo, Charles, and Zoren.
Unconscious, but still standing, still had their teeth clenched.
They had held the massive boulder above them with their backs — the same one they removed just now — preventing it from crushing them.
"They’re... THEY’RE HERE!!"
