Chapter 668: Connect The Dots

Maintaining order and trying to squash any sort of resistance from greedy folks who wanted to take advantage of the territory’s situation didn’t mean Lola and Atlas put everything on hold. If anything, they let things run in the background.

For instance, after discovering the situation in Ashkar, Atlas ordered the Bellemonte men to be isolated for questioning. Of course, the Order didn’t outright detain them or hold them as prisoners.

If anything, the Bellemonte captives—those Lola saved, and the last one they eventually found hiding in Halvik—were taken in under the guise of psychiatric evaluation. As for the first two found in Gigante, they were still recovering, but they had already regained consciousness.

They were all cooperative and under strict monitoring. Izu and Baby worked hand in hand on this.

There were more of them who surfaced during the fight, and they were all taken to the same location but housed in different quarters.

As for Pika and Tyga’s discovery of Jarvis’s call logs, they had been working diligently and quietly to locate the exact destination where the calls were redirected. On top of that, they discovered that every call Gehran made with the other governors had the "governor" of Ashkar answering from the same IP address.

They had also been trying to recover as much information as they could. Unfortunately, what they managed to retrieve were only fragments—small details that didn’t paint the full picture.

As for Ransom, he had been gathering information from residents while treating patients. So far, he had heard some interesting things, but nothing substantial enough to form a clear conclusion.

All he knew—information that Long also backed up—was that there had been a large amount of chemicals, both medical-grade and lethal, going in and out of the territory. It was how Long managed to steal some for his research.

Fortunately, Long had some spare ingredients, which he gave to Ransom. Ransom then sent those samples back to the island to be examined and traced to their origin.

Lastly, Florida rushed to Lola the moment he returned from his own investigation.

Although Florida went into the main city with Lola, he didn’t join the chaos. Lola had given him a different order, which he carried out without distraction. After recovering documents and files from both the governor’s residence and Jarvis’s home, he returned to report. Unfortunately, Atlas knocked Lola out to keep her from exhausting herself.

Although Florida wanted to wait for Lola to wake up and report directly to her, Atlas told him, "Whatever she asked you to do to put a leash on Henrik, tell me now."

So, he did.

However, instead of letting this information circulate, Atlas instructed Florida to send everything back to the Order — specifically, to Allen — and have the signatures examined first. They had to confirm whether it was truly Nathalie’s signature.

Thus, here they were.

They kept everything secret and discreet, as per Atlas’s orders. Because if this truly was the Bellemonte family’s doing, it would mean war—a war ten times greater than what happened in Ravah.

"Huh?" Haji’s face twisted. "But if Henrik Bellemonte is doing these shady deals and even..." he trailed off, tapping the reports before him. "... if he wants to bring the Order down, why ask the Order to help them? Is he crazy or just dumb?"

"This doesn’t make sense to me," he added, his tone thoughtful. "I don’t think someone leading one of the founding families of the secret society would be so stupid as to not consider that—whether it’s part of the plan or not—the Order would gain something from it."

"Unless he intended to throw us into this pool of confusion—exactly where we are now—or..." Scarlet hummed, casually flipping through the reports. When she turned to the next page, she added, "... he’s being dragged into this without his knowledge."

Haji glanced at her, then shifted his gaze to Lola and Atlas. But before he could speak, Florida spoke first.

"At first, I was surprised when I saw the signatures. But after hearing the other discoveries, I couldn’t help but wonder... whether what I found is actually true, or if it was meant to be discovered—to point us in a misleading direction."

"What about the island?" Scarlet cut in, eyes on Atlas. "It’s also possible he asked us to come here to draw both of you away from it."

"Everything back home is fine," Atlas replied. "The twins have already reported to me. Sybil and Allen also confirmed there’s nothing suspicious on the island since we left."

Scarlet nodded slowly, deep in thought. The implications were chilling in their own way.

A clash between two major families of the secret society would be disastrous. Everything in the reports made sense individually—but taken together, they explained nothing. Instead, they left behind a massive question mark.

"Unless a war has already been planned." After a long silence, as everyone spiraled over the reports, Lola finally spoke. "A war between the Order and the Bellemonte."

Everyone’s brows knitted as Atlas nodded in agreement. The two of them had already discussed this privately, but wanted to hear the others’ thoughts. And since Atlas preferred caution, they decided to lay everything out to everyone involved in the mission.

They trusted these people, and that trust eased the risk of information leaking.

"What I’m saying is that someone else could have been preparing for this for a long time," Lola continued. "Even before the request reached the Order, Atlas was already looking into Ravah for reasons unrelated to the Bellemonte. After all, Ravah’s economy relied heavily on illegal underground dealings."

And Atlas’s investigation into the photos sent to Lola months ago—photos of her while pregnant—had led him straight to Ravah. That was when he began scrutinizing its operations and transactions.

"It’s just a theory," Lola said carefully, "but what if the plan was spoiled by Henrik Bellemonte himself?" She spoke slowly, as if inviting everyone to connect the dots. "According to his profile, he wasn’t the type to ask for help, especially not from the Order." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Yet he swallowed his pride and personally begged Atlas to rescue his men. That alone was out of character," she paused. "And that... may have ruined everything."

Lola tilted her head. "If Henrik Bellemonte hadn’t asked for the Order’s help, we would’ve eventually uncovered all of this anyway. And once we did, it would’ve tied everything back to the Bellemonte, igniting a war between two families. One with the greatest military force in the Order, and the other with the most resources among the founding families."

"If that’s the case, then there’s only one question we need to ask ourselves," Lola paused again, the air in the room growing heavy. "Who benefits from the fall of both the Zorken Family and the Bellemonte Family?"

Everyone stared at Lola in silence. But their thoughts all arrived at the same answer.

The rest of the founding families of the secret society.
