Chapter 665: The Order Is Her Life, and The Order Is Me.

"Youโ€™re in a good mood." ๐“ฏ๐“ป๐“ฎ๐™š๐™ฌ๐“ฎ๐™—๐’๐™ค๐’—๐™š๐™ก.๐’„๐’๐“ถ

Lolaโ€™s brows twitched at the sound of Atlasโ€™s voice beside her. Her lips stretched into a smile as she played with her spoon in her bowl, her gaze drifting toward the people gathered in the large dining room where everyone was about to eat dinner.

Everyone, including Atlas.

"Hehe. I had an interesting realization today," she said, leaning her shoulder against him. When she caught the curiosity in his eyes, she added, "Baby, I think I finally understand why I donโ€™t like Scarlet... and why you trust her. Which answer do you want first?"

Atlas leaned back slightly, thinking for a moment. "The first one."

He already had an idea what her answer would be. His wife had always been an open book to him, more so now that they were married.

"Because..." Lola trailed off as she glanced around the dining area, packed with starving members of the Order after a full day of work... and searching for Lola.

"...sheโ€™s like me," she shrugged, snapping her attention back to him. "And even though Iโ€™m starting to like myself, I still have some prejudice against the previous-season me. I mean, the season one Lola."

Atlas nodded in understanding. He had guessed as much. Though personally, he didnโ€™t think Lola and Scarlet were all that alike. Physically, the difference was heaven and earth.

Scarlet was a person, and Lola... was his wife. The mother of his children, and the only actual woman in his eyes. If someone mentioned his mother or sisters, he would just flatly tell them that those were not counted because they were his mother and sisters. Not his women.

Heaven and earth.

"As for why you trust her..." Lola smiled. "I get it now. Sheโ€™s quite reliable, isnโ€™t she? I actually thought sheโ€™d sabotage this mission just to spite me."

All that planning I had if she did went down the drain, but oh well!

Her lips curved as she recalled her impression during the chase. That time she saw Scarlet speeding like her life depended on it left a lasting impression.

One way or another, Lola knew Haji would have been forced to act on his own if Scarlet hadnโ€™t joined in.

Deep down, Lola believed Jarvis wouldโ€™ve been captured regardless. Still, Scarlet stepping in to help Haji was something she hadnโ€™t expected at all.

Atlas propped his arm against the edge of the table, his gaze following Lolaโ€™s.

Across the room, Scarlet sat at another table, and Himari had suddenly squeezed herself beside the young woman.

"When I first took over the Order, she was the loudest in opposing the decision. She even rebelled," Atlas shared, casting his wife a sidelong glance. "She was the hardest to please."

Lola pouted. "You didnโ€™t please her, did you?"

"Her opinion doesnโ€™t matter," he said calmly. "But I never took her words or actions to heart. Scarlet had already lost everything before I took over the Order."

Lolaโ€™s brows lifted, her head tilting as curiosity sparked in her eyes.

"When the fighting between the Zorken heirs escalated, many soldiers left the Order. Those were the ones who couldnโ€™t choose a side," he explained. "As for the trainees, Sybil sent them far away under the guise of training missions."

Scarlet had been very young back then.

Compared to now, she had grown stronger, sharper, and more composed. Still, no one could rewrite what had already happened.

"Her family served the Order under Sybilโ€™s rule until someone claimed rightful control," Atlas continued. "But the late Nathalie Zorken took the islandโ€™s researchers hostage, forcing the rest to obey her. By the time we took Nathalie down and I reclaimed the Order... it was already too late for her father and sister."

He paused, meeting Lolaโ€™s gaze honestly. "They were gone before we even reached the island."

"Oh..." Lolaโ€™s mouth formed a small O. "I didnโ€™t know that."

"No one talks about the past because itโ€™s bitter," he replied. "And I didnโ€™t tell you because I wanted you to judge Scarlet based on your own experience, not because of a tragic backstory."

Lola rocked her head slowly, realizing her opinion would have changed had she known earlier.

"After that, I consolidated control over the Zorken familyโ€™s influence in the secret society," he added. "Once Scarlet realized I was the Orderโ€™s only chance, she supported every decision I made."

More than that, when Scarlet accepted that Atlas would not leave, no matter what, she pledged herself to maintaining order.

That was how she earned the title of Head of Security Operations.

She was ruthless when it came to discipline, efficient in execution, and invaluable in governance.

"The Order is her life," Atlas murmured as he picked a piece of meat from his bowl. He carefully brought the fork to Lolaโ€™s mouth. "And the Order is me. My life is you and the children, and if I lose you, the Order collapses."

His lashes fluttered softly. "Thatโ€™s why I trust her with my life and yours. If anyone fears the Order collapsing, itโ€™s Scarlet. Its fall would mean the end of her entire world."

Lola frowned slightly. "Isnโ€™t that... a little cruel?"

"She wants it that way," Atlas said evenly. He nudged the fork closer, feeding her the meat. "Unless she tells me otherwise, Iโ€™ll continue to see it that way."

Lola chewed slowly, cupping her cheek.

This was exactly what she had meant when she spoke to Scarlet in the car. The same mindset that had once trapped Lola in Vitoโ€™s organization.

"You shouldnโ€™t have told me that," she pouted. "Now I feel bad for her."

Atlas shrugged. "Thatโ€™s precisely why I didnโ€™t tell you before."

"Now it feels like Iโ€™m the bad guy," she grimaced. "How am I supposed to unhear that?"

Just then, a voice called from her side.

"Madam."

Lola froze.

Instead of turning toward the speaker, she slowly turned to Atlas. "Baby," she whispered, pointing to the other side discreetly, "tell me the person on this side isnโ€™t the one Iโ€™m avoiding."

Atlas followed her gaze, then calmly corrected her.

"Itโ€™s people," he said. "Not just one."
