The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!-Chapter 588: West Side
Back in the underground facility, Ransom, Florida, Long, and everyone else stood around the empty bed where the tablet was placed. They watched the situation aboveground through it, almost amazed at how Long had installed these cameras without anyone noticing.
"What are they doing?" one murmured, brows drawn tight as he followed a few feeds at the same time.
Right now, they could see mercenaries running around the area, with some flocking to the bar. Others were checking each manhole—for reasons they already guessed. There was also a feed where they could see Lola running in a different direction while those who came with her were in another area, hiding.
"There are so few of them," another whispered, recognizing some of the men who had stayed behind in Gigante earlier. "How could we even... survive this?"
There were two main problems they had right now.
First, there was only one entrance and exit to the facility. Even if Long reassured them that the entrance couldn’t be easily opened by brute force, they were still stuck underground.
The second problem was the number of enemies. There were just too many of them. They could match the numbers if all of Gigante stood up and fought, but numbers alone weren’t enough. These people were not only armed, but trained.
"I think she’s calling."
Everyone snapped out of their thoughts at Long’s quiet remark. They glanced at him instinctively, only to see him point at one feed. When all eyes fell on the screen, they saw Lola waving her arms wide.
"She’s mouthing something," Florida remarked, narrowing his eyes as he watched her exaggerated lip movements. "I can’t understand it."
Ransom leaned forward slightly, trying to read her lips.
"Donut?" Long guessed, tilting his head. "She wants a donut? Does she know there’s no donut shop here? Or is she talking about the donut stall in Five District?"
He paused and frowned deeply. "There’s no donut shop in Five District, even when there are people in it. A pizza parlor, maybe."
Everyone ignored Long’s guess — it made no sense — until one of the townspeople murmured,
"Do not listen."
Everyone turned to him.
"I think..." he continued quietly, "...that’s what she’s saying."
"What does that even mean? Don’t listen to what exactly?" one man asked, and everyone shared the same confusion.
At the same time, Lola pointed at her ear and mouthed the same words again. Still confused, Ransom and Florida suddenly heard her voice.
"Ransom, Florida, I have a plan."
Both men stiffened, Ransom instinctively pressing a hand to his earpiece. He glanced at everyone, who were already watching him.
"I need you and Florida to convince Long to show you the other exit," Lola said. "That guy needs money to start talking or moving. Give him everything you’ve got, then go to the exit. The guys above are trying to open the main entrance. I’ll buy you time—escape to the west side quickly."
Ransom and Florida nodded, eyes fixed on the feed showing Lola.
"Do you understand?" she asked.
"Yes, Madam," Florida answered, and the line clicked off.
Even then, their eyes stayed on Lola. She stared straight at the hidden camera for a moment, nodded, then turned and ran toward a narrow alley—a tight space between two houses.
Florida and Ransom turned to Long. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"She told us to escape to the west side," Florida said, pulling out a pouch from his left pocket and placing it on the bed. "And told us to give you this."
"We’ll give you more once we leave," Ransom added. "Show us the other exit."
The townsfolk frowned deeply, glaring at the drunkard.
"You said there was no other exit!" one roared. "Were you lying to us?"
"Calm down—" another tried to stop him, though he was clearly upset too. "Long, I know we’re from another town, and you’ve taken us in, but we’re all in the same situation now. Keeping information like that because of money—how much longer are we going to put bounties on our own heads?!"
Displeasure filled the room, including among those from the Order. It wasn’t the transaction itself—it was the timing.
Were payments really more important when they could all be buried alive?
Long stared at them in pure confusion. "There is no other exit."
"You lying bastard—are you still lying—"
"THERE IS NO OTHER EXIT!"
Long’s voice echoed through the facility. "Believe me or not, search every corner of this place. You won’t find one."
His face darkened. "If there was another exit, I would’ve used it the moment I knew this place was compromised."
Everyone fell silent, studying him.
Since the beginning, Long had been indifferent, almost detached—but now he wasn’t slurring his words. He looked sober. And just as frustrated as they were.
"If there isn’t..." one man trailed off, confused, "then why would she give that instruction?"
"I don’t know." Long shook his head, eyes returning to the tablet. "I don’t know why she would say that when she knows this place’s weakness."
After all, Lola had been here before with Haji. She had even discovered this place on her own.
"Do not listen," the man who had read Lola’s lips earlier whispered again. "She said not to listen."
Everyone froze, confused. But somehow, now, it felt like the order that had confused them earlier was slowly reaching clarity.
"Wait—" Florida suddenly said, staring at the feeds. "What’s happening?"
He pointed at one screen. Long zoomed in, revealing more men leaving the bar and other positions.
"Where are they going?" Ransom muttered.
No one answered at first. They watched the packed streets of District Five shift—vehicles and armed men moving in one direction, almost like a mobilized unit.
Realization dawned on Long. "They’re heading to the west side district."
Shock rippled through the room as silence hung heavy in the air.
"How did they know...?"
As the question hung in the air, Ransom ripped off his earpiece and crushed it under his boot.
"I think..." he whispered, looking up as Florida removed his own earpiece and shut it off, "...our comms are compromised."
