Chapter 523: Then, We’re Dead.

The next day came, and as expected, the news of Lola joining the mission shook the entire Order. Whispers and gasps echoed through thick walls, and along with the surprise came judgment.

To them, this was nothing more than a way to establish Lola’s position in the Order.

After all, it was an open secret that many were not confident in her. In their eyes, she was just a pretty woman who had a one-night stand with Atlas and happened to bear his heirs. Coincidentally, they reunited and continued their love story that barely even started years ago.

In other words, she was nothing but a heroine in a romance novel — a princess saved by her prince, or a woman who used her beauty to enchant Atlas.

A femme fatale.

"Just what are they thinking?" One of the guards stationed in the South Wing snorted. "Taking her on the mission? Are they insane?"

"You actually believe she’s going?" his comrade laughed. "I’m sure they’re only saying that. She’ll probably back out."

"This is all for show," another scoffed, rocking his head. "There’s no way the master would send his wife into the red zones of Ravah."

Hearing that, they all reached the same conclusion everyone was already whispering. Lola’s participation was nothing but a stunt, a ploy for her to take credit later. No one inside the Order would be impressed... but people outside might be fooled.

Meanwhile, in the cafeteria, the men couldn’t help but talk as well.

"The Council will never believe this," one man commented mid-chew. "Even if she’s skilled, I doubt she could match the team’s capabilities."

The others nodded, not as shocked as the rest.

"Either way, it’s pathetic." A loud voice boomed through the cafeteria. "And insulting."

Everyone turned toward the notorious gloater of the Inner Circle — Chuck. He smirked, eyes sweeping over the soldiers coming and going.

"We all know she’s not really joining. It’s not a big deal," he shrugged. "They just want to make her seem relevant. Otherwise, why would the boss let his wife step foot in Ravah?"

No one spoke as loudly as he did, but the silent agreement in their eyes was obvious. However, in one corner of the cafeteria, a particular group glared.

They were none other than the so-called "weakest" team in the Outer Circle.

"Ignore him," one muttered. "Just ignore him."

"The captain already told us to ignore everything for now," another reminded. "We’ll find out soon enough."

Because just like everyone else, this was their first time hearing Lola was joining the mission — and it came from other circles. Even Izu looked shocked when he was told. They’d know soon whether it was true... or just another rumor created to fuel everyone’s prejudice against the supposed matriarch.

"What?" Chuck snorted louder, spotting the weakest group. But before he could open his mouth again, a large silhouette appeared at the entrance.

Chuck glanced over, scowling as he saw Baby walking in. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Tsk. I just lost my appetite," he grumbled, rising from his seat and deliberately tipping his tray to leave a mess behind.

He walked off with his lackeys from mid-tier soldiers who liked to bite at scraps of power. Others glanced briefly at Baby before returning to their meals quietly.

Meanwhile...

While the entire Order whispered about Lola’s involvement — convinced it was just for show — the meeting itself was a stark contrast.

None of the rumors or judgments seeped past the reinforced walls. Inside, real plans were being laid out.

And leading the meeting was Lola.

"We’ve already covered the terrain, tunnels, and routes," Lola said, scanning the people at the table. "The Bellemonte already made contact and will send their troops according to our coordination. With them included, we’ll have twenty-five personnel in total — including lookouts and the small camp teams."

This rescue mission could be completed within a single night, but considering the dangers within Ravah Territory, they had to prepare for more.

Lola pressed a button, shifting the holographic map to their entry point. "This is where we’ll enter. But to reach it, we must first enter Krates. From Krates, we’ll take a bus, then a small ship, and finally boats."

"Boats?" one remarked. "Like one we row?"

"Yes," Lola rocked her head. "The oceans surrounding Ravah have coastguards. The Order’s submarine will be easily detected. So, either we go by boat, or swim our way to Ravah. But with the distance, it’ll exhaust us even before the mission."

They couldn’t use large vehicles near Ravah, or they’d be shot down long before reaching the borders. Discretion was essential.

"Haji still has contacts who can bring us safely to the entry point," she continued sternly. "Once we arrive, the Camp Teams will set up here — at the entrance of the underground tunnel — and here, at the exit point."

"Tech support will be stationed here," she added. "Ravah can cut off reception at will, so our own signal support is necessary."

Everyone listened in silence, not daring to interrupt. Pika — forced here thanks to Haji — gulped nervously. He wasn’t part of the Camp Team. He would be on the field, and his nervousness grew very obviously.

"From this area, two teams will split," she said as the map divided. "Team One will infiltrate here, the other here. Our priority is to locate the trapped soldiers. Once they’re found, we retreat immediately and quietly."

This was already discussed the day before, but Lola repeated it for clarity.

"The Bellemonte troops will be above ground," she added. "Some of them have experience inside Ravah, so they’re slightly more familiar with the city."

She noted that the Bellemonte held some knowledge about Ravah... but not as much as what she and Haji had gathered.

"In case of complications, they’ll draw away attention so we can proceed," Lola said, letting out a slow breath as she rested her palms on the table’s edge. "But remember, the Bellemonte were authorized to engage."

They had vendettas. Fallen brothers. Unfinished business.

"But as much as possible, we avoid confrontation," Lola insisted. "If there is no choice, eliminate the threat quietly and don’t get noticed."

Silence weighed the room as everyone nodded.

Then Scarlet raised her hand slightly.

"What if we’re caught? And the entire Ravah is alerted?"

All eyes shifted to her, then back to Lola.

"Then..." Lola answered calmly, "we’re dead."
