The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 743 - 784: Life in Danger
"I’m sorry, Madam, please forgive me!"
Brett Jacobs’s behavior was offensive to Sienna, and her face turned ugly on the spot. No matter what had happened, Brett Jacobs’s actions were a disrespect and violation to her.
"Brett Jacobs, put me down!" Sienna ordered.
"Madam, Sixth Master has had an accident."
Sienna’s heart skipped a beat. These days, the tense heartstrings of concern for Adrian had suddenly snapped. Thinking about it, if the man hadn’t been in an accident, he wouldn’t be ignoring her and their daughter’s phone calls.
Sienna was carried into the car by Brett Jacobs. It took her a while to recover. The car had been driving for a long time, and her whole body was cold before she came to her senses.
"What happened to Adrian?"
"Sixth Master’s heart was shot!"
"Sixth Master is now in a hospital in Himakati for emergency treatment. The doctors said that his condition is very bad. I am taking you to see him now..."
Brett Jacobs’s car was speeding, its speedometer well over two hundred kilometers per hour. Sienna felt the car drifting on the road all the time.
Shot in the heart...
Sienna studied medicine and was well aware of the danger of being shot in the heart. She wanted to ask how he was now, but found herself frozen, stiff, and unable to make a sound.
It is unknown how long it was before the car was replaced with a helicopter. The helicopter took off with a thundering sound and flew towards the hospital where Adrian was located.
Sienna rotated the wedding ring on her ring finger, as if spinning prayer wheels in Setu Temple, praying for his safety.
「At Bakan Hospital in Himakati.」
Sienna had no idea how long it had been. When the helicopter landed on the hospital’s rooftop, the moon had risen high; it was probably late at night.
"Madam, Sixth Master is undergoing surgery. Please get off the plane," Brett Jacobs said anxiously, seeing Sienna motionless.
Sienna whispered, "Brett Jacobs, I cannot move. Carry me."
"Alright." At this point, offending her or not no longer mattered.
Muscular Brett Jacobs effortlessly carried Sienna, who was wrapped in a blanket.
The smell of disinfectant filled her nostrils in the hospital, and Sienna finally felt the reality of the situation.
This was not a dream. Adrian really had suffered an accident. Shot in the heart and undergoing surgery, his life was hanging by a thread.
"Adrian, why were you injured?" Sienna mustered the courage to ask.
"Sixth Master was shot while trying to save Mr. Carpenter," Brett Jacobs replied honestly.
Sienna frowned and looked at Brett Jacobs. "How did Sixth Master get involved with Elliot Carpenter?"
"Mr. Carpenter used to be in the drug business. He wanted to return to it, so he asked Sixth Master to help him..."
Adrian had instructed that Sienna not be told about these matters, but at this point, Brett Jacobs had to tell her.
Sienna coldly asked, "Did Sixth Master agree?"
"Yes."
Sienna sneered. "Sixth Master is really good to Elliot."
"Madam, please don’t misunderstand. Sixth Master had no choice but to agree to Mr. Carpenter’s request. He just didn’t expect an accident to happen..."
"...The person who shot Sixth Master was Xavier Young."
"It was him?"
"Yes."
Sienna’s impression of Xavier Young had become blurry. If she hadn’t seen him once in the Department Store after arriving in Abyanabad, she would have almost forgotten his existence.
"How did the two of them get into a conflict?"
A woman’s weeping caught her attention: "SOB, SOB... Sixth Brother... please don’t die. If you die, I don’t want to live either..."
Sienna recognized the voice.
"Sixth Master went on a business trip and brought Melanie Carpenter with him?"
Brett Jacobs quickly explained, "Miss Carpenter came with Mr. Carpenter."
"Is there a difference?" Sienna asked.
Brett Jacobs wanted to say there was a difference, but under Sienna’s cold gaze, he couldn’t speak.
Outside the operating room, Walter Klein was waiting, along with Melanie Carpenter and several bodyguards.
Walter Klein saw Sienna in Brett Jacobs’s arms and quickly walked over. "Madam, Sixth Master’s condition is very bad. Please come with me."
"Sienna Johnson, what are you doing here?" Melanie Carpenter demanded.
No one paid attention to Melanie Carpenter. Walter Klein grabbed Sienna’s hand and led her to a room. There, a nurse helped her put on an antibacterial suit and disinfected her entire body so she wouldn’t bring any germs into the operating room.
"Madam, the situation is very critical for Sixth Master," Walter Klein explained. "You should go in and encourage him, don’t let him give up on life."
"I know."
Actually, Sienna was furious with Adrian. He knew Elliot Carpenter harbored malicious intentions, yet he still foolishly protected him, even taking a bullet for him. She could not accept this. When he shielded Elliot, did he ever think about her and their daughter, or the unborn child in her womb? If he had, he surely wouldn’t have taken a bullet for Elliot, only to end up lying on the operating table, his life hanging by a thread.
However, Sienna couldn’t bring herself to blame Adrian, who was now in a life-and-death situation. No matter how angry or resentful she was towards him, she didn’t wish for him to die. Her unborn child would be born in a few months, and she didn’t want the baby to be born fatherless, without ever having seen their father.
With a lost and disoriented mind, Sienna was led by a nurse into the operating room. The room was filled with the strong smell of blood. So much blood, Sienna thought, he must have lost almost all of it.
Adrian lay there, his eyes tightly closed, his face completely devoid of color. If it weren’t for the oxygen mask covering his mouth, she would have thought he was dead...
"Madam, please stay calm. We will do our best to save your husband," a doctor assured her.
"Thank you!"
Sienna did not cry or become hysterical; she was very calm. She followed the doctors’ instructions, fully cooperating with them in their efforts to pull Adrian back from the brink of death.
Without any encouraging words or touching sentiments, she simply sat beside Adrian, took his hand, and placed it on her belly.
Perhaps it was a bond between father and child. The baby, who usually slept at this hour, was now alarmingly restless. Normally, its kicks were gentle, but now it was kicking so furiously that Sienna spasmed in pain several times, her face deathly pale as she clenched her teeth and remained still.
Past memories played like a movie in Sienna’s mind. There was a time when she hated him so much she wished for his death. But now that he might actually die, she realized her heart ached so terribly she could barely breathe.
"Adrian Desmond, if you die, I’ll remarry immediately!"
