The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 724 - 765: A Gender-Ambiguous Person Arrives
"Everything today is on me; no need to save my money!" Anabelle Jones said softly, her gaze lingering affectionately on Sienna Johnson.
To Adrian Desmond, an unspoken, intense chemistry seemed to simmer between the two women. Reeking of an affair! He, her rightful husband, was standing right here! How dare this... this androgynous creature flirt with his woman? Did she not want to live anymore?
Adrian Desmond’s face darkened. "That won’t be necessary," he stated coldly. "I don’t like my woman spending other people’s money!"
Seeing the growing awkwardness, Sienna quickly intervened. "Let my husband pay. He has more money than he knows what to do with. Next time, when this big spender isn’t around, you can treat me."
She winked at Anabelle Jones, who laughed, the sound more refreshing and hearty than conventionally feminine.
Adrian Desmond cursed inwardly, That despicable pair!
"Alright! Next time you come, I’ll cook for you myself," Anabelle offered.
"Then I’m in for a treat," Sienna replied.
"Call me before you come next time, so I can prepare the ingredients."
"How about tomorrow?"
"Deal!" Sienna agreed.
"No deal!" Adrian Desmond interjected.
Both women looked at him strangely. Adrian knew that if he made a scene now, Sienna would definitely be furious with him.
Adrian Desmond had also become smarter. He now understood what it meant to ’retreat in order to advance,’ and how to ’loosen the reins to get a tighter grip.’ Besides, when he learned Chinese, the first thing he’d studied was Sun Tzu’s *The Art of War*. Its thirty-six stratagems were just as effective for dealing with women.
"Sienna," he began, "you forgot, we’re going to the hospital for a paternity test tomorrow..."
"Do I have to go in person?"
"Of course! We go personally, watch them get the results—that’s the only way to be sure, isn’t it? What if there’s a mistake and the test is inaccurate? What then?"
Adrian Desmond spoke with such gravity, but his true aim was singular: to prevent her from being alone with this androgynous person.
Sienna thought it made sense too, so she said to Anabelle Jones, "Angie, I’m sorry. I have something tomorrow, so I can’t make it. Let’s reschedule."
"Alright, I’m always free. Just give me a call when you’re craving something good."
Anabelle Jones then casually reached out and patted Sienna’s cheek. This seemingly innocent gesture completely shattered Adrian Desmond’s last shred of composure.
They were close friends who had even shared a dormitory room once. So, this type of playful teasing didn’t bother Sienna, but Adrian Desmond bristled.
"You dare touch my woman! Are you looking to die?" he snarled through gritted teeth.
He seized Anabelle Jones’s wrist, clearly intending to break it. Sienna, instantly sensing his violent purpose, threw both her arms around Adrian’s arm to stop him.
"Adrian! Let go!" she cried, looking at him anxiously, her voice a desperate plea.
Adrian Desmond’s strength was immense; the slightest exertion of force from him would snap Anabelle Jones’s wrist.
Anabelle Jones had never encountered such a savage man. Her brow furrowed in agony, but she clenched her jaw and remained silent.
"Adrian Desmond, if you don’t let go this instant, I’m going back to Sileria City!" Sienna threatened, but didn’t dare loosen her desperate grip on his arm. His brute strength was such that not even two strong men could restrain him.
Adrian Desmond finally released Anabelle Jones’s hand, his voice a low warning. "She’s my woman. Drop your little ideas! If you dare touch a single hair on her head again, I’ll chop off your hand!"
"Adrian Desmond!"
Sienna, both furious and mortified, turned to Anabelle Jones. "He’s not himself today, just ignore him! I apologize on his behalf. Please, for my sake, don’t take it to heart." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Anabelle Jones cradled her throbbing wrist. "I’m fine, don’t worry."
"Didn’t you say you had something to do?" Sienna urged, now just wanting to get Anabelle Jones away quickly. "You should go. Don’t worry about me."
If those two stayed together any longer, who knew what might happen, Sienna thought.
"Alright, we’ll schedule another time."
"Mm-hm."
Sienna finally saw Anabelle Jones off, only then letting out a sigh of relief.
"Who is that androgynous person?" Adrian Desmond demanded, his tone accusing, as if Sienna had cheated on him.
Sienna moved her lips, initially wanting to explain. But then she glanced at Adrian Desmond and felt he was being ridiculous. If Anabelle Jones had been a man, his jealousy might be understandable. But Anabelle was a woman; nothing would happen even if they shared a bed.
So, Sienna ignored him.
He leaned closer, his voice soft yet ominous. "Stay away from that androgynous person! You get jealous easily, and trust me, so do I!"
Sienna bit back her anger for a moment but couldn’t hold it in any longer. She glared at him. "What ’androgynous person’? Can you stop insulting people like that?"
"Am I wrong? A woman dressing like a man—if that’s not androgynous, what is?"
Sienna took a deep breath. "Everyone has their own style. Angie likes a cool, androgynous look. So what? How does that concern you? Can’t you speak less harshly? Adrian Desmond, you’re being completely unreasonable!"
Adrian Desmond sneered. "Me, harsh? Me, unreasonable? That androgynous person looks at you with obvious intentions."
The air grew tense. Sienna said stiffly, "You’re in a foul mood. I’m not talking to you."
Adrian Desmond scoffed. "Of course I’m in a foul mood! It’s because of you two shameless creatures!"
"You..." Sienna fumed. "What’s gotten into you?"
"The way she looks at you—it’s obvious she has ulterior motives!"
"What ulterior motives could two women possibly have?"
"There are plenty of things two women can get up to."
The thought of that doll made Sienna sneer. "Oh yes, Sixth Master is quite the connoisseur of pleasure, isn’t he? Using even those kinds of dolls. Is there any kink you haven’t explored? With all your experience, Sixth Master, you must have dabbled with men too, right?"
Adrian Desmond glared at her, equally furious.
They both sulked, ignoring each other.
On stage, performers were singing excerpts from "The Romance of the West Chamber." The character Yingying yearned for her scholar, her singing voice both plaintive and tragic. Love truly was heartbreaking and destructive. Even the most carefree soul couldn’t remain detached when faced with it.
They were never meant to be, yet a twist of fate had brought them together. She had feared him, been terrified of him, yet now she bravely stayed by his side. Looking back, it all felt like a dream, so unreal and hazy. He wasn’t a gentle or considerate man, a far cry from her ideal. But he was trying to change. It was just that his occasional domineering and aggressive streaks still wounded her.
After about ten minutes, Adrian Desmond suddenly swept Sienna into his arms. "What are you doing?" she exclaimed.
Adrian Desmond ignored her, carrying her straight into the men’s restroom. As the restaurant had just opened, it wasn’t crowded; only one man was at a urinal.
Amidst the sound of rushing water, the man at the urinal looked up, stunned to see Adrian Desmond stride in carrying a woman.
