The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 36 - 0: She Actually Likes Him
Chapter 36: Chapter 036: She Actually Likes Him
Their relationship was purely physical, and this was the first time Adrian had discussed love with her.
Did he even understand what love was? What right did he have to talk about love with her?
Sienna thought about Adrian’s fiancee, and the idea irritated her. She couldn’t help but ask, "Do you even know what love is?"
"Of course I know what love is! I want to sleep with you, I want to spoil you, and I want to give you the best things in the world. That’s what love is!" Adrian said confidently.
Sienna gave a light laugh, tinged with mockery and disdain. She slowly rose and looked at Adrian’s bare torso. His muscles were taut, without an ounce of fat, exuding power. What a domineering, arrogant, and selfish man!
"Mai, answer me!" He had to know. Now that he’d fallen for her in this relationship, what was her real stance?
"Adrian, do you want the truth or a lie?"
"Of course, the truth!"
"Alright, I’ll be honest!" Sienna looked down at Adrian and said seriously, "Adrian, if you want me to fall in love with you, deal with your fiancee first. If you don’t have that level of sincerity, don’t discuss such a profound and pure topic as ’love’ with me!"
...
"I’ll go cook."
Adrian stared at Sienna, dissatisfied with her answer. He wanted to argue further, but Sienna had already gone to cook. Her expression clearly showed she didn’t want to discuss the matter, so Adrian had no choice but to drop it for now.
He believed Sienna loved him too, even if her love wasn’t as strong as his.
...
She cooked some rice, using soy sauce for seasoning as there were no other dishes. The soy sauce turned the rice dark and unappetizing. Sienna lost her appetite just looking at it, but Adrian ate with gusto. This lessened her irritation a bit.
"Is it delicious?" Sienna asked with a smile, a small flicker of hope in her heart.
Adrian replied honestly, "Not really."
"If it’s not good, why are you eating it?" Sienna asked unhappily.
"Because I’m hungry!"
Sienna’s expression immediately darkened. She lowered her head and ate sullenly, refusing to speak to Adrian any further.
"Why are you afraid of snakes?" Adrian asked.
"I fell into a snake pit when I was young," she replied nonchalantly.
"That was really stupid of you!"
Adrian looked at Sienna with a hint of pity in his eyes, but Sienna, who kept her head down, didn’t notice. She bit her chopsticks, feeling even more depressed.
At thirteen, an unwilling Sienna was taken back to the Johnson Family. As a "generous gift," Sabrina Johnson lured her—new and unfamiliar with the surroundings—into a snake pit. Her cries for help went unanswered; she had no one to turn to.
"Are you upset?" Adrian noticed Sienna’s low spirits.
"Yes, I was just thinking about some unpleasant things from the past."
"You didn’t fall into the snake pit by accident, did you? Someone pushed you in?" Adrian suddenly asked.
Sienna looked up, meeting Adrian’s probing gaze. "How did you know?"
"I guessed."
Adrian finished all the rice in his bowl. Seeing that Sienna had barely eaten, he, not minding at all, ate her leftovers too.
After eating, Adrian told Sienna, "Wait for me. I’ll be back soon. Don’t wander off."
Sienna quickly grabbed Adrian’s clothes and asked, "Where are you going? How long will you be gone?" She was afraid of being left alone.
Adrian gently kissed her lips and said, "I’ll be back soon. If you encounter any danger, just scream loudly. I’ll be able to hear you."
"Okay," Sienna agreed obediently.
Adrian took his gun and left the wooden cabin. Sienna watched his figure fade into the night. At that moment, she realized how much she depended on Adrian.
With the cabin door closed, Sienna sat on the wooden bed, reflecting on recent events that could be described as "narrowly escaping death." Ever since she had fallen into that pit and Adrian had rescued her, her world had been turned upside down.
Adrian had asked if she loved him.
Sienna was unwilling to admit it, but she did have feelings for him. Although those feelings weren’t strong enough yet, she kept them suppressed.
She placed her hand on her chest, feeling her heartbeat. Before falling asleep, the exhausted Sienna told herself, I have to guard my heart!
Once she fell in love, she would truly and completely be imprisoned by Adrian. There would be no escape.
...
"Mai, wake up and eat."
Sienna was awoken by Adrian gently shaking her. The fire had been burning continuously, keeping the room warm. In the warm glow of the light, she saw Adrian’s handsome face. She rubbed her eyes and mumbled,
"Adrian..."
"I know you don’t like rice with soy sauce, so I roasted you a pheasant."
So, he had gone out earlier to hunt a pheasant.
Sienna sat up and checked his wound. It was seeping some blood, but it wasn’t severe. Still, she chided him, "Who told you to go hunting? Don’t you know you’re injured?"
"You care about me that much? And you still won’t admit you’ve fallen for me?" Adrian smiled smugly. Sienna glared at him, their eyes locked in an unyielding staring contest until the smell of something burning reached them. Only then did Adrian shift his gaze back to the pheasant he was roasting.
"It almost burned."
Seeing the golden-roasted pheasant on the spit, Sienna’s stomach let out an indelicate rumble. Adrian looked at her but didn’t say anything. Sienna’s face turned red.
"Do you want some?"
Sienna didn’t answer.
"Say you love me, and I’ll give you some!"
"Hmph!"
"You won’t say it? Alright then, don’t expect to eat any." Adrian took the roasted pheasant and began eating it himself. Sienna couldn’t stand it anymore and lunged to grab it. Adrian was startled; he’d never expected this woman to become so fierce all of a sudden.
With Adrian’s indulgence, Sienna naturally snatched the golden-roasted pheasant away. She clutched the pheasant and gnawed on it, eating with great relish.
Sienna had always eaten elegantly and sparingly; Adrian didn’t care for her usual delicate, ladylike demeanor. He patted her head and said, "This is how you should eat. Look how skinny you are; you’re all bones when I touch you."
Sienna glared at him. "I didn’t ask you to touch me."
"Alright, alright. I want to touch you, okay? Don’t be angry. Eat your food. After dinner, we’ll continue!" He stroked her soft hair; it felt like the finest black silk, and he savored the sensation, reluctant to let go.
"Adrian, can’t you think about anything else for a change?"
Adrian’s gaze fell on her stomach, and he said with a satisfied smile, "I’m also thinking about the son you’ll bear for me—will he look like me, or like you?..."
