The Betrayed Heiress's Second Comeback-Chapter 46: Ch : What are you doing here?
I lingered around for a little longer, wanting to know what Damian and the unnamed woman were talking about. So I took slow steps and strained my ears in order to stay around for a little longer.
But unfortunately, I was not sneaky enough to escape Damian’s senses. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
He gave me a calm look that told me that he needed me gone as soon as possible. So I had no choice but to go and lock myself in my room until the guest was gone.
I might be Damian’s ’partner’ for now, but it was pretty evident that we were not equals. And we would never be equals as long as I did not hold my own power.
’Tsk, I knew all this before I took Damian’s hand. So why...is it hurting me now? I should not feel like this...’
But just because my brain knew this did not mean that my heart knew it either.
In the end, I decided to take a cold shower to wish away all my worries and thoughts. It might be a little cold but the water would surely numb my senses enough to make me feel better...right?

I finally relaxed once I could no longer sense Jenna around.
For some reason, Jenna had taken a long time heading back to her home and she had even kept turning around to look at me once or twice. I had to shoot her glances to make her walk faster.
But that was the smaller part of the problem taken care of. The bigger problem was still sitting in front of me and her name was Lisa Black.
"So that was the girl I had heard so much about? She felt...rather plain. Should I play with her a little?"
I felt my body tense at those words and my words escaped my mouth even before I knew what I was saying.
"What are you doing here? And don’t you dare touch Jenna, or else—"
My voice was harsh but calm. It was a warning for the female in front of me to not take her teasing too far.
But instead of fear, all I got was laughter.
"Don’t worry. I am not interested in touching your little partner. I believe even you are not blind enough to let her step into our world. She looks fragile enough to be taken advantage of. So just quickly finish your play and go back to your ’real’ fiancée. Jennifer Bradley will not wait around for long."
"Lisa—"
"Well, that was all I came here to talk about. That... and see the face of the girl who made my older brother fall for her beauty. But I have to say that I’m disappointed."
I felt a growl escape my throat at my sister’s words. Lisa was my biological sister, but she was also a spoiled brat who was used to getting her way.
She was also Jennifer’s best friend and the one who had suggested Jennifer as my fiancée candidate.
"Lisa, stop doing this. You know as well as I do that there is nothing between Jennifer and I. This whole fiancée thing that you are cooking up is only in your mind..."
Lisa only smiled, her eyes twinkling as if she knew something I did not. Her confidence unnerved me and made me feel suspicious at the same time.
"Oh, but our parents also agree that you should marry Jennifer. No matter what partner you bring back home, I will always scare them away until you have no one else left. So, won’t it be better for you to accept my help beforehand?"
Lisa asked and I had enough. We might be related but there was only so much bullshit I was going to allow her to get away with. Especially when it was my life she was messing with.
"Just get going. Better not see you or your friend anywhere near me...for your own good."
Lisa picked up her bag before she moved toward the door. But before she left for good, she turned around to give me one last piece of advice.
"Damian, you know that we live in a different world compared to everyone else, right? Then remember, no matter how much you like someone from this side, you will only make them suffer if you bring them into your world. Make your choice carefully."
With that, Lisa was gone and I was left alone in my living room.
I knew what she wanted to tell me and a huge part of me agreed. I did not want to drag Jenna into my world and risk losing her just like I lost...my first love.
’But didn’t you lose your first love even without her being a part of your world? Who says it can’t happen a second time? You need to confine Jenna in her room and lock her up in a place no one else would be able to see her...’
"Alright, that’s enough. I should call the chef to start preparing for dinner now. I cannot take this anymore."
I rubbed my forehead to get rid of my headache. Every nerve in my body wanted to barge into Jenna’s room and kiss her until she forgot about what was happening.
But logically, I knew that I could not do that...so I decided to hold myself back.
I did not know how long I would be able to keep my desires in check for. I was already losing control and the marks of my nails on my palm were evidence of this.
"I am letting Lisa’s words influence me too much. I need to calm down."
I felt like this situation was going to spiral out of control if I did not control it now, but I also had no idea how to control it. I wanted to talk to Jenna about it, but was there truly a need to do that?
After all, we were in a contractual relationship which would end as soon as we brought Harvour Industries down. And then, we will both go our separate paths.
’That’s weird...why does my heart ache like this just thinking about it? Am I truly...that attached already? I need to create some distance between us.’
