The Best Actor Insists On Living With Me!-Chapter 1697 - 1689: Rehearsal (2)
Meanwhile, the countdown continued to tick.
Xia Siyu suddenly got goosebumps. Without thinking, she reflexively swung a punch at his face.
But before her fist landed, she suddenly remembered Bo Yan’s words: "Hurry, don’t be impulsive."
She quickly retracted her fist and, mimicking Bo Yan’s earlier actions, glanced around and finally spotted a large button glowing red behind the guard room.
Without a second thought, she bypassed the security guard, rushed in, and with all her strength, punched the button.
Sure enough, as soon as she pressed it, the main door finally creaked open. As it opened, the guard who had been attacking her sat back in place and the others following her stopped moving.
Then, all the lights in the hall came on, and a voice played: "Congratulations on passing."
Though Xia Siyu felt indifferent about clearing the level, as she walked outside and the sun shone on her again, it was as if she had been baptized.
Not only did her timidness from being trapped inside disappear, but her earlier anger with Bo Yan also faded away.
She cleared the level, obtained the gem for this stage, and got the "Puppet House" achievement badge. She specifically noticed that none of the other guests had it—she was the only one.
Outside, the other guests and the photographers who left earlier were all there. At first glance, it seemed somewhat surreal, especially when she saw Bo Yan again. Bo Yan stood still, neither congratulating her like the others nor holding hands or hugging her, but simply smiled at her.
She understood that look; it was filled with pride, as if saying, "I knew my wife is amazing."
So she smiled too. The show’s director was making a speech about collecting seven gems to unlock the afternoon’s carnival itinerary, but she didn’t pay attention. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
After running around the amusement park all morning, no one had eaten yet. The crew didn’t skimp on lunch and arranged a feast for them at a restaurant. However, after just going through the Haunted House, everyone seemed not quite in good spirits.
Including Xia Siyu, who usually loved to eat. But during this meal, she seemed distracted and only poked at the dishes with her chopsticks, occasionally glancing over at Bo Yan.
But Bo Yan seemed quite calm; since she didn’t speak to him today, he didn’t engage her either. Apart from the necessary communication during the task, they almost had no interaction.
Xia Siyu was like that; she liked to tease others but also wanted a response. If she didn’t get one, she’d be puzzled. Her curiosity and competitive spirit would make her want to engage with the person but not lower herself to talk to him first—it would be too humiliating!
After finishing lunch, an afternoon parade with floats and mascots brightened everyone’s mood. Afterwards, the four teams split up to plan evening surprises.
Xia Siyu and Bo Yan had earlier promised Han Yifan to rehearse a program with him. Zhang Wenyi was preparing a water screen movie, and a male senior was planning a candlelit dinner surprise. The director thoughtfully arranged for the remaining three female guests, who were unaware, to do a task, dispersing everyone.
At that moment, Xia Siyu and Bo Yan received their script. They were to play Snow White and the Prince, collaborating with the theater troupe to perform the play.
Having acted in plays before, this children’s play was no big deal for Xia Siyu—perhaps the makeup time would even exceed rehearsal and memorization.
When they practiced their lines backstage, Xia Siyu deliberately chose a back-to-back position with Bo Yan. She couldn’t see him but could see his expression through the makeup mirror in front of her. The director suggested, "Do you want to rehearse your lines together? It might help when you’re on stage."
Xia Siyu immediately widened her eyes: "I don’t want to!"
Bo Yan grinned: "Let’s just do it this way, each on our own."
His words left Xia Siyu a bit disgruntled. Her refusal was one thing, but couldn’t he at least try to persuade her? If he had asked to work together, given how long they’ve known each other, she might have agreed to pair with him.
But she couldn’t show it, so she defiantly recited her lines to the mirror. She exuded such confidence that it was as if she were not the fragile princess needing the Prince’s rescue, but the dragon-slaying hero herself.
Glimpsing in the mirror again, she saw Bo Yan looking calm, not even glancing up, as if she didn’t matter, which irked her more.
Wait, could he be doing this on purpose, planning some plot twist for the performance later?
But since other teams seemed to be preparing surprises, she wondered what Bo Yan might have in store for her. She sidled up to Han Yifan and quietly asked, "Is there any alternate storyline in this script?"
Han Yifan, puzzled, shook his head: "No. Why change the script?"
His slightly raised voice startled Xia Siyu. She quickly turned around, relieved that Bo Yan hadn’t noticed.
In his script, Bo Yan and Xia Siyu were to follow the original storyline, while he adapted parts for his monologue to Shang Feifei. Bo Yan hadn’t asked him for any changes.
Xia Siyu remained skeptical, considering how closely-knit Bo Yan and he were; what if he secretly helped Bo Yan to catch her off guard?
When Bo Yan took a restroom break during practice, she seized the chance to sneakily check his script for changes. Flipping through several pages, she found none. Just then, Bo Yan asked from the side, "What’s up?"
"Huh? Me? Nothing." She flicked her hair nonchalantly. "I was just checking if your script was different; it might affect my performance if you mess up."
Bo Yan calmly replied, "Relax, I’ve got the lines etched into my DNA."
"You’d better," Xia Siyu huffed, then returned to her script. After a few lines, she realized—she was holding it upside down.
After rehearsing, they couldn’t perform immediately; the play was scheduled for 8 PM, right after the water screen movie. Clearly, the director had timed it all: a candlelit dinner first, then the movie, with this play as the grand finale.
