Chapter 1537: Chapter 1528: Untitled (Part 2)

Then, the next second, Xia Siyu spoke up, "Having a meal?"

No kidding, right? She picked up a meal box, still unopened, what else would she be doing if not eating? But with Wang Ju and Sun Wujiu both here, and a bunch of other people too, she couldn’t directly retort, so she smiled gently, "Trying out your chef’s skills."

Xia Siyu sighed, "Eh, it’s just average. To leave a good impression on you and have you continue guest-starring tomorrow, I’ll give you my portion. I haven’t touched it yet. It’s the freshest vegetables picked this morning, along with chicken breast and egg whites. The salad dressing is zero-fat, nutritious and healthy."

Shang Feifei shook her head, "No..."

Before she could finish, Xia Siyu quickly stood up, forcefully handing her portion over, and took Shang Feifei’s instead. Before she even got back to her seat, she couldn’t wait to grab a bite, as if afraid Shang Feifei would take it back.

Sure enough, as soon as she sat down, Wei Jingjing seemed to catch wind of it and rushed in. Seeing Xia Siyu eating with the employee meal in front of her while her own untouched portion was in front of Shang Feifei, she felt angry but dared not to act out, especially in a room full of colleagues. Her expression was clear: just wait till we get back, I’ll deal with you!

Xia Siyu enjoyed her meal with great relish. It was really just a big pot meal, after all, not cooked by a five-star hotel chef, but surely better than eating grass. Humans evolved to the top of the food chain, not to eat grass! She’d rather eat her fill and go for a run than eat poorly.

After finishing and tidying up, the afternoon filming was about to begin. The afternoon and evening were Bo Yan and Xia Siyu’s scenes. Li Yiru’s work was done for the day, but she didn’t take leave to go back. She also joined the crowd observing, makeup removed, and clothes changed, watching Bo Yan and Xia Siyu act with Wang Ju and Shang Feifei.

The director for the afternoon was Sun Wujiu. He had a background in cinematography but had been working alongside Yu Fenfei for a long time, much more experienced than Bo Yan as a director. However, Wang Ju and Yu Fenfei are both well-known directors of their generation, and both he and Bo Yan can be considered their juniors.

Before officially starting, Bo Yan and Xia Siyu rehearsed their lines on the side. However, it wasn’t the usual director giving direction and the actors listening. Xia Siyu is usually talkative, but she doesn’t express much when going through the script. And Bo Yan isn’t much of a talker either. The two quietly focused on the script, with Xia Siyu occasionally looking up in a daze, lost in thought.

Once the stand-in actors practiced a few times, and Sun Wujiu made a few adjustments, he called the two leads over. Bo Yan already had a storyboard, knew how to perform the actions, and where to position themselves. Sun Wujiu’s suggestions were just slight adjustments to a few positions.

Perhaps it was to showcase the filming and acting to Wang Ju and Shang Feifei. In the morning, she and Li Yiru had an intense emotional scene. The afternoon scene, though shot during the day, was for a night scene, and it was the most crucial outbreak scene. Before the sponsor fell, when the female lead decided to commit suicide, the male lead made one last attempt to persuade her to leave with him. She didn’t agree.

"Sunrise" was entirely set at night during its stage play performance. Sunrise implies the darkest moment before dawn, symbolizing the female lead collapsing before dawn, buried with the decayed and muddy things.

The film lengthened some parts, but the main scenes were all at night.
