The Art of Chaotic Divinity-Chapter 1425: A Slim Chance of Survival
"Junior Brother Ling, how confident are you?"
Chu Tiange drew in a deep breath. The ground beneath his feet trembled faintly, and the sheer number of those demonic vines was likely beyond imagination.
"About eighty percent. At this point, I can only rely on luck."
Ling Feng took a slow breath. Sometimes, luck was part of one's strength, and he had always believed his own luck was not too bad.
The thin mist hanging in the air began to shift uneasily, as though pressed by some unseen force.
Even though they could not see far ahead, everyone clearly sensed a terrifying surge gathering and closing in on them.
Through Boundless Vision, Ling Feng saw that more than ten li away, the ground split open again and again in every direction. Sharp, pointed heads burst out from the earth like an army charging forward, kicking up clouds of dust that filled the sky.
Where they passed, ghostly mist roiled, sand and stones were swept into the air, and their overwhelming aura surged forward without restraint.
They were moving at an astonishing speed. If nothing unexpected happened, they would arrive within a quarter of an hour.
By then, even Great Emperor level experts would likely die here in vain.
"Follow me!"
Ling Feng took control of the situation and led the group forward, weaving left and right. He deliberately chose paths where the Bloodthirsty Demonic Vines were sparse. Each time a vine surfaced, he struck first and shattered it before it could attack.
The result proved he was right!
He had already grasped the difference between the Bloodthirsty Demonic Vines and ordinary vines, so they never fell into a surrounded position. Step by step, they were breaking free from the forest of vines.
He glanced toward Yin Jian's group. Their situation looked far worse.
Although Yin Jian possessed some ability to sense danger in advance, the sheer number of demonic vines had already thrown him into confusion.
Worse still, the direction they were heading led straight into the densest cluster of Bloodthirsty Demonic Vines.
If they continued like this, they would not be far from the road to the Yellow Spring.
Ling Feng withdrew his gaze and did not bother warning them. If those people died, so be it. None of them were good to begin with.
"Senior Brother Yin, look. They did not follow our route." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Su Ming turned back and noticed something strange.
Yin Jian only glanced back faintly and said nothing.
"Heh, their pride must have taken a hit. They are probably trying to find another way on their own," a Human Emperor sneered coldly.
"Good. If I see that brat again, I will kill him on the spot and crush him under my feet."
Su Ming snorted, then looked toward Yin Jian. He took a breath and forced a smile.
"Senior Brother Yin, what should we do next? Do we stick to the previous method?"
"Mm."
Yin Jian nodded after a brief pause. He glanced back once before speaking slowly.
"Yuwen Changkong, go scout ahead. Do not worry. If anything happens, I will act immediately."
Yuwen Changkong shuddered.
It was over. Things had returned to where they started. His fate was still to be cannon fodder!
Suppressing the fear in his heart, he moved to the very front of the group. Since there was no avoiding it, he forced himself to act brave. As long as he endured for a quarter of an hour, someone else would take over, and he would be safe again.
In this situation, only by staying calm could he grasp that slim chance of survival.
The group set off again. After about thirty breaths, Yuwen Changkong, who was scouting ahead, was drenched in cold sweat. Every passing moment felt as though his life was being drained away.
This was terrifying!
"Stop!"
Yin Jian called out to Yuwen Changkong and suddenly halted. A trace of seriousness appeared in his eyes.
"Senior Brother Yin, is something wrong ahead?" Su Ming stiffened at once, his guard rising.
Yin Jian frowned. For some reason, even though he detected no danger within one li, a faint sense of threat lingered and refused to disperse.
"It is nothing. We continue."
After a brief pause, he prepared to move again.
"Wait..."
Feng Shaoan closed his eyes and listened carefully before speaking.
"A wave of malevolent qi is approaching us."
In truth, even without sensing malevolent qi, the tremors beneath their feet had grown increasingly obvious as they advanced. Many had already noticed it, but none dared question Yin Jian's authority.
Yin Jian frowned and said in a serious tone, "Junior Brother Feng, look carefully. The bait ahead has not been attacked. These demonic vines cannot possess such intelligence. They cannot lure us into a trap. They are nothing more than mindless beasts that act on instinct and devour whatever prey is before them."
Before he could finish speaking, thick vines burst out from the ground. One of them lashed out and swallowed a Human Emperor at the rear of the group in a single bite.
"Ah!"
The scream cut off almost instantly. Panic spread through the group.
"How is this possible? How can this be happening?"
Yin Jian clenched his fists tightly. These were supposed to be low-level demonic vines. How could they possess such intelligence?
"What do we do? Senior Brother Yin, what do we do now?"
The group was thrown into complete panic. One death after another filled everyone with a deep sense of danger. Everything had slipped out of control, and Yin Jian suddenly no longer felt reliable.
"Retreat! We fall back!"
Yin Jian's expression changed drastically. He no longer dared to advance and immediately gave the order.
"Everyone, return the way we came!"
Only then did he think of Ling Feng's group. Had they already sensed the danger and changed their route?
The thought flashed through his mind, but he refused to believe it.
"Fall back! Quickly!"
Yin Jian continuously drove the remaining elemental force in his body, shattering the vines that emerged around them. If he could not stabilize morale now, the situation would only grow worse.
They might all die here!
A drop of cold sweat slid down his forehead. Though his mind remained steady, he was already prepared for death.
The crisis ran deeper than he had expected.
At that moment, his left eye caught sight of a faint chance of survival.
Five figures moved in a steady rhythm, advancing and retreating in perfect order. Their path avoided the terrifying demonic vines with uncanny precision as they drew closer to safety.
"How can it be him?"
Yin Jian clenched his fists. His left eye could perceive fortune and misfortune to a certain extent. What it saw as life would certainly be life.
Likewise, what it saw as death would certainly be death.
That slim chance of survival lay in following Ling Feng's path. Any other direction led only to certain death.
"Damn it!"
Yin Jian was no fool. He clenched his fists, cast aside his pride, and immediately led his group to follow the route Ling Feng had taken, quickly catching up.
Sure enough, before long, the number of demonic vines emerging around them began to decrease. Even the tremors in the ground gradually weakened.
All signs showed that they had chosen the right path and were moving toward a safe domain.
"As expected of Senior Brother Yin!"
"He truly deserves to be the one most likely to become one of the Heaven Slaying Ten Absolutes. Calm in the face of danger and able to lead everyone out of crisis. Senior Brother Yin is still Senior Brother Yin!"
The tension in everyone's hearts slowly eased. As they looked at Yin Jian, a sense of reassurance returned.
Their captain, Yin Jian, was still someone they could rely on!
