Chapter 1149: Ruthless

"Trying to run?"

The Island Lord's wife slammed her palm down, pinning the black-clad girl who was possessed by the serpent. She turned to Ling Feng, her tone cold. "Young friend, how do you plan to separate this serpent from my daughter's body?"

"I have my own methods."

Ling Feng gave a faint, confident laugh, his eyes steady on her. "Since we've reached an agreement, there's no need for hostility. Why not come aboard and rest for a while? I'll extract the serpent's spirit for you!"

The Island Lord's wife hesitated, then nodded. For the moment, Hailong Island still held the advantage. As long as this young man wasn't a fool, he would not choose to fight them to the death.

She carried the possessed girl and leapt onto the large ship. "Then I'll trouble you."

Although Ling Feng's strength wasn't enough to threaten her, the sacred land behind him was something she dared not offend.

"No trouble. Consider it a deal!"

Ling Feng raised an eyebrow, his gaze falling on the serpent inhabiting the girl's body.

The serpent hissed venomously. "Brat, don't bluff! You think you can drag out Grandpa Serpent? That old hag from Hailong Island couldn't even do it. Who do you think you are?"

"Let's find out."

A smirk played at the corner of Ling Feng's lips. He looked at the Island Lord's wife and said calmly, "Please hand her to me. The technique I use is a secret. I don't wish to reveal it, so I must ask everyone to wait on deck. Soon, I'll return your daughter to you alive and unharmed."

Though she was wary, the Island Lord's wife had no choice but to trust him. She sealed the serpent's power with a barrier, then handed the girl to Ling Feng with a quiet, "I'll leave her to you."

Without hesitation, Ling Feng dragged the serpent into the ship's hold and shut the door behind him. He carried the girl into a secret chamber at the bottom of the vessel and looked her over with cold intent.

"Brat, what are you planning? This body belongs to that woman's daughter. Don't you dare try anything!"

The serpent recoiled, its scales prickling under Ling Feng's gaze.

"I'm not doing anything to her," Ling Feng said coldly. "I'm doing something to you."

The serpent's pupils narrowed. "Human, who are you trying to fool? You think Grandpa Serpent will believe that? This woman is Grandpa Serpent's only insurance. Trust you? Grandpa Serpent isn't that stupid!"

"You seem exactly that stupid."

Ling Feng shook his head. "You can always change your mind, right before you die!"

"Bloodthirsty—Plunder!"

In an instant, a bloody crack split open on Ling Feng's forehead. Crimson light surged out, and within it, a vertical red eye opened, radiating a chilling, oppressive aura.

"What... What is that? What kind of monster are you?"

The serpent began to panic. It could feel its soul being dragged toward that eerie vertical eye.

"You'll find out soon enough."

Ling Feng sneered. The space before him twisted, and from the crimson light reached a monstrous demonic claw that lunged straight for the serpent's head.

"Ah!"

A piercing scream filled the chamber as the serpent convulsed violently. A shadowy figure was wrenched out of the girl's forehead, inch by inch.

"Brat, what are you doing?"

The serpent's voice trembled with terror. This man wasn't human. No human could possess such a horrifying power.

"You don't need to know," Ling Feng replied coldly. "I told you before, leave the woman's body and obey me, and I'll spare your life!"

His tone turned razor-sharp. "You still have a chance. Otherwise, in ten breaths, your soul will be destroyed."

"Ten."

"Nine."

...

Ling Feng began counting down, his face calm though his heart raced. This technique could indeed pull the serpent's soul out, but his control over the Eye of Plunder was not precise.

If he pulled too hard, the black-clad girl would die as well. Even if she survived, losing part of her soul could leave her an empty shell.

"I'll cooperate! I'll cooperate!"

Panic replaced the serpent's arrogance. "Spare me, young hero! I'll do as you say!"

"That's better!"

Ling Feng closed the vertical eye, a faint smile returning to his lips. "The wise know when to bow!"

As the crimson light faded, the serpent let out a shaky breath. "Aren't you afraid of ripping out that woman's soul too?"

"If I do, then I do. She's not my daughter."

Ling Feng shrugged indifferently.

"You..." The serpent glared at him with hatred, then hissed, "Fine, you win. You're ruthless!"

"Enough talking."

Ling Feng's gaze sharpened. "I heard you stole a token from that woman—a Tianlan Sea Token, was it?"

The serpent flinched. "Who told you that? Lies! All lies!"

"Heh. So you really want to die."

Ling Feng's eyes grew cold.

"I'll tell! I'll tell!" The serpent broke down completely. "Yes, I stole it! The Tianlan Sea Token is the key to the Sea of Miracles. Anyone who holds it, human or demon, can enter with the help of the Venerable of the Desolate Sea. I... I was planning to use it to ascend and become a demon emperor!"

"Oh? So it's an opportunity to reach emperor level?"

Ling Feng smiled faintly. "Sounds valuable. Hand it over!"

"I... I exaggerated! It's just a small chance, not worth much!"

"Give it!"

Ling Feng extended his hand.

The serpent trembled, then reluctantly handed over a blue token. "Young hero, you're the kind who eats a man clean and leaves no bones behind!"

"Thank you for the compliment."

Ling Feng smiled coolly. "Now get out of that woman's body. You're a male serpent pretending to be female. What are you, some kind of cross-dressing snake?"

The serpent let out an awkward laugh, and a green light flickered around the girl's body. An emerald serpent slipped out from her, and Ling Feng instantly captured it and threw it into the Five Elements Heavenly Palace.

Before questioning it further, he decided to let that despicable donkey "train" it for a while.

After that, the serpent would finally understand what Ling Feng meant when he said he was a kind-hearted man!
