The Ancient Genes-Chapter 854 The Guilty Trap
Chapter 854 The Guilty Trap
"Goddamnit! What's wrong with this place?" Blinken cursed as he sliced the oncoming thick vines.
Max on the other side was in a similar situation. His hands continuously moved as he sliced all the vines which were gushing towards him. The situation was really strange. There was no end to this, and they couldn't find where it was all coming from.
"There is no end to this..let's move away from this place.." The Red Hair Chief spoke in a loud voice, and next instant flames burst forth from his body incinerating all vines in the vicinity.
The trio immediately made use of this opportunity to escape before the vines could grow again.
"Damn! This place is a mess.." Blinken cursed as they finally got to a safer place.
"What were you expecting?" The Village Chief asked with a condescending smile.
"You b*stard.." A vein immediately popped up on Blinken's forehead and Max had to intervene to stop the two from fighting.
Over the past few days, they had spent their time exploring the place. Initially Max planned to do it from the sky, but oddly, the forest cover was too thick making it impossible to see anything. And, for some reason, Max's domain was not that effective here. It was honestly more effective to just see it in person.
Hence, they decided to do so.𝒇𝚛e𝘦wℯ𝑏𝓃𝑜νℯ𝒍.co𝗺
But, their trip until now was all filled with strange encounters.𝗳𝔯𝙚e𝒘e𝚋𝘯𝚘ν𝙚l.𝑐o𝙢
The last vines rush they faced was a part of it along with human eating plants, enormous insects and animals. These creatures, although were not very strong, had very strong vitality. It was as if you were facing an endless amount of enemies. There was no option but to get overrun by them at one point of time after getting tired.
"The center is well protected.." The Chief spoke with a serious look on his face. In these past few days, they had actually managed to scan the whole place down. And, there were dangers everywhere. But, there was only one place which they couldn't break into. It was the center of this weird place.
They had tried it from all directions. But, every time something will pop up and obstruct them. The Vines earlier were the same. The things which were protecting the center were not easy to mess with. If not careful, the chances of an accident were very high. Especially, when you had someone lurking behind with their motives unknown.
Yes, the pesky little group was still lurking behind and this was really ticking off Blinken. This was the reason that he and the Chief had clashed several times over. Even though the Chief was maintaining the decorum as a leader earlier, it started to crumble with Blinken's attitude. And, finally, Max saw a personality of the Chief which made him even more resembling Wilson.
It was to the point where he wondered if this guy was Wilson's Ancestor or something.
"Ok..enough now.." Max sighed and separated the two bickering guys. "Let's discuss how to break through the center.."
"Hmph..I think it's very easy.." Blinken responded as he glared at the Chief. "We just need more people, with that it is possible to break through the vines. Now, I only wonder where we can find some perfect baits.." He rolled his eyes at the last sentence, and made an obvious gesture towards their back hinting at the group trailing them.
The Village's Chief's expression darkened upon hearing that.
"We have discussed this already. Come if you want to fight me, I will show you your place.." He seemed pissed as well.
"Do you think I am afraid of you?" Blinken asked with a smile, "But, let me just ask you one thing first, you really think these people don't have any ill intentions?"
The Village's Chief expression hardened a little on hearing that, "They haven't done anything yet.."
"See…even you know it deep inside…" Blinken spoke in surprise as he looked at the guy. He didn't think that the crack head was smart enough to understand that.
"Village rules? Self made Principles? Or a Leader's duty?" Max couldn't help but ask with a smile when he saw the situation.
The Chief gave him a look and then sighed, "My father asked me to take care of the Village before he left. I can't harm anyone unless they are guilty of something.."
"Now, I see…" Blinken smiled as if coming to an understanding, "You are not that of a kind guy. No wonder you were so aggressive here. You just need a reason as long as they give you one, you will probably wipe out half of those scheming b*starts back at the village.. "
The Chief stared at Blinken and didn't reply. But, his silence seemed more than enough of an answer to both Max and Blinken. This guy was not really what he showed himself on the surface. But this made him even more likeable as a leader, only his principles were a little problematic though.
"How about we take care of this problem of principle?" Max asked him with a smile.
"What do you mean?" The Village Chief asked with a frown.
"Well, as long as they become the bad guys, it's enough right?" Blinken chimed in, understanding Max's intentions well.
"That works, but they are not easy to deal with. They are just like these weird creatures in the forest. Weaker than us, but still a pain to deal with.." The Chief warned the two of them.
"You seemed to have a lot of confidence in them?" Max asked with a curious look on his face.
"The village here was established by my great grandfather. He was the one who learned the way to survive in this place as a weak human. He later went on to teach and formed a group of such people. Even my father had said that these people were not the one to mess with. There is no way, I won't take his words carefully.."
"Well, we will have to check it out for ourselves then. And, if what you say is true, then there is an even more of an eager need to remove these guys.." Max spoke as a cold glint flashed through his eyes.
