Chapter 178: Finally find peace

"Leon," Loretta murmured, her voice tinged with disbelief. "How could you speak out against your own father?"

Leon stood tall before the entire council as he faced the assembly with an unwavering gaze.

"I am not the true son of the Alpha King and Luna Queen," he declared. "I am their adopted son, brought in to sit on the Crown Prince’s position until Zenna gave birth to an heir. I was a mere replacement, nothing more."

His eyes turned cold as he fixed Philippe with a burning gaze. "You ordered me to kill Radulf because you couldn’t defeat him with your own strength. From the moment I could walk, I was bound by orders. Every decision, every action, required the Alpha King’s approval. Why? Because I was not born with royal blood."

He shifted his gaze from Philippe to Radulf, his expression softening with regret. "Forgive me," Leon spoke sincerely. "Four years ago, I was too weak to defy the Alpha King. But today, I am not that person. I will lay bare all the evidence against this man who sought to keep the packs under his control, living in luxury while the rest of you suffered."

Gasps filled the room as the alphas of the packs exchanged stunned glances, the truth of the Alpha King’s treachery now laid bare before them.

"This is beyond outrageous," one of the council elders finally spoke with fury. "The Alpha King does not deserve to carry the weight of this title any longer. The Moon Clan was once revered as one of the most mysterious and purest clans in the entire Kingdom. For the Alpha King to destroy it, then imprison the respected lady from the Moon Clan, is an abomination that no one can overlook. The destruction of the Shadow Hunter Pack, and the brutal execution of two of its respected figures, are crimes that cannot be overlooked," one of the council elders continued, his voice heavy with condemnation. "Alpha King Philippe’s actions have brought shame upon this Kingdom."

Philippe remained frozen on the floor, unable to comprehend the rapid collapse of his power. The respect and fear he once commanded had evaporated, and with it, his authority.

Even his commanders, those who had once stood loyal by his side, were no longer listening to him. His adopted son, Leon, had turned against him, giving him the ultimate betrayal.

As the realization settled in, the other pack leaders were quick to voice their support for the council’s decision. One by one, they spoke in unison, standing in solidarity with Radulf and Zenna.

"This council has reached a unanimous decision," Jasper, the senior council members, declared. "Philippe will no longer hold the title of Alpha King of the Nalveri Kingdom. He is to be imprisoned immediately, and his punishment will be determined soon. Given the immense suffering caused to Radulf and his wife, Zenna, it is only fitting that they have the final say in the matter."

"No!" Loretta’s voice cracked with desperation as she rose from her seat. "How can the council decide to remove the Alpha King? I will not allow this!" She turned her gaze toward Alfred. "You are the commander of the Alpha King’s army! Why are you not taking action?"

Alfred, who had been standing silently, finally spoke, his voice calm but resolute. "You are mistaken, Lady Loretta," he said. "The entire army stands with Alpha Radulf and Lady Zenna. Whatever they decide, we will follow without question."

"A torturous death for Philippe. That is all I desire," Radulf declared. "I want him to suffer, to feel every ounce of the pain he has inflicted on others for years." His eyes hardened as he continued, "Lady Loretta and his daughter, Aria, should also be imprisoned. They have been complicit in his actions while putting immense torture on Zenna. And as for the Crown Prince, he is the one who uncovered this entire truth. Without his courage, we would never have exposed the vile secrets surrounding Zenna’s mother. I hope the council will stand with me on this."

No one opposed his decision. The council members exchanged looks, each of them understanding the depth of Radulf’s words. His call for justice was now the consensus, and there was no turning back.

Loretta and Aria’s cries pierced the air, but they were drowned out by the stern commands of the guards. At Alfred’s signal, the guards began to move toward them

"No!" Loretta sobbed, clutching Aria to her side. "This is wrong! You can’t do this!" Aria, her face streaked with tears, clung to her mother, both of them overcome by despair.

"Brother, we did nothing! How could you do this to us?" Aria cried out, her voice breaking with disbelief. She had trusted Leon, placed her faith in him, and now, she felt utterly betrayed.

"Zenna, please... Don’t do this to us!" Her pleas echoed through the hall, but there was no response.

The guards, unfazed by Aria’s desperate cries, moved to drag her and her mother away. Aria struggled against their hold, her sobs coming in desperate gasps, but it was futile. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Loretta, too, was crying as they were dragged out of the council hall.

Meanwhile, Philippe, the once mighty Alpha King, was not spared his own fate. Alfred himself took Phillipe to the prison while Tristan closely followed them.

"Thank you, everyone," Radulf muttered, his voice filled with a humble gratitude. "This is the justice I’ve been waiting for, for four long years. I believe my father and mother will finally find peace. They were wronged, mocked, and misjudged by everyone in the Kingdom." His eyes seemed distant as he recalled that fateful day, the day that had completely changed his life.

Jasper, the council elder, stepped forward with a somber expression. "Radulf, the fault lies with this council," he said with a regretful tone. "We failed to protect one of the strongest and most honorable Alphas at the time. We failed you and your parents when they needed us most."
