The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 35: Moon Banquet 2 ()
The silver skinned female was dressed in a thin and sheer dinner gown made from the finest silk, it looked light and airy as though it had been woven from clouds.
Her gown was a deep blue shade that spun about her as she moved, seeming like rippling waves of the deep blue sea.
Princess Shariah of the merfolk was indeed a unique and enchanting beauty, her presence and disposition was one the guests at the banquet could not ignore as they stared on in marvel while she bid her greetings to the new Alpha King.
"Congratulations on your ascension as Alpha King, My King." The silver skinned female smiled demurely as she spoke, tilting her head down, a brief glimpse of her neck revealing a patch of glittering silver scales.
Princess Shariah’s words of course dropped hints that were not missed by majority of the guests, it was a well known fact that Princess Shariah of the merfolk was hopelessly in love with the new Alpha King.
Right from his days as Prince of the Ethereal domain, an event had led to their meeting when the new Alpha King had first joined the supernatural council as the representative of the werewolves and it was said Alpha King Askel had saved the lives of the Royal siblings of the merfolk.
Since then, it was known all across the Ethereal domain that Princess Shariah of the merfolk was completely taken by Alpha King Askel although the object of her affections has remained unmoved.
Princess Shariah clearly had no intentions of giving up and one could say both could be considered a perfect pair, two powerful figures from two of the most prominent races and each possessing unearthly looks that perfectly matched the other,
The only barrier would be the obvious fact that Alpha King Askel was a wolf shifter who would perhaps find his fated mate someday and beyond that, despite her youthful looks,
Princess Shariah had just clocked her 150th year which made her over a century older than Alpha King Askel.
Time moved differently beneath the sea than it did on land and so the merfolk were known to age extremely slowly, having such long life expectancy that they could almost be considered immortal.
The creator had bestowed each race with it’s own unique trait that conformed to the domain they ruled over and although the races on land were not as favored by the passing of time, they were blessed with the gift of predestined love in the form of their soulmates.
"Much appreciated." Askel replied, his tone still as cold and stiff as it previously was.
"As cold as ever, you have not changed in the slightest Askel. My father sends his regards and his faith that the centuries long peace between our two races endures for many centuries to come." Princess Shariah conveyed her message.
"Would you let your brother speak now, sister-mine?" The male standing beside Princess Shariah asked in an amused tone.
Princess Shariah giggled but stepped aside and the male stepped forward with the gift from the merfolk and Askel stretched a hand out to him, the two males exchanging a short handshake.
"Forgive my sister, King Askel. You know how she gets whenever she sets eyes on you." The male said with a roll of his eyes.
His skin was just as silvery as his sister’s, however his scales spread from his neck up a side of his face and around his temple like a natural crown.
"Prince Treyton of the seven seas, your father’s words and intentions are well received. The King of the sea can be assured that I share his thoughts." Askel said in a firm tone.
"My father will be pleased to hear your words, as am I. There is much we must discuss, alas today is auspicious and reserved to celebrate your ascension. I will await your summons at your own convenience." Prince Treyton said in a fond tone,
Askel raised a brow wondering what the merfolk had to discuss with him yet he nodded to Prince Treyton in agreement.
At this point, the merfolk was the only race Askel knew were bent on upholding the grand alliance and were adamant in their refusal to break the vow made by their ancestors.
Whereas greed and thirst for power had eaten deeply into the other races like it had done with Askel’s father, and now the leaders of the other races now jumped at every opportunity that provided them justification to break the alliance.
Askel sometimes wondered if not only time moved differently beneath the sea, the loyalty and nobility of the merfolk was truly of greater standard than the races on land who were fickle in thoughts and actions.
For this reason, although Askel held no intentions to share personal relationships with any of the races beyond what the alliance allowed, he was willing to make exemptions for the merfolk.
"Luther will be in touch before your return." Askel assured.
The two royal siblings of the merfolk bowed low before they retreated and were swept away by the other esteemed figures present in the banquet.
"Has there been any suspicious events in the seven seas of late?" Askel thought to Luther who stood at his right hand side.
"None that I am aware of My King, do you have any ideas as to what the merfolk wish to discuss?" Luther thought back to Askel.
"There’s no need to make assumptions, we will hear of it from them." Askel decided before his attention was drawn back to a dainty looking and innocently beautiful female adorning a gown made from vines and flowers.
Her gown seemed to be made of hundreds of flower petals woven together and her arms and neck were adorned by vines,
Her waist length hair dangled behind her and her feet was bare, leaving a trail of flower petals in her wake as she passed by.
The scent of flowers she exuded was so overpowering that a couple of sneezes were heard here and there, especially from the Vampire Lord Kriden and his retinue.
Askel himself struggled to hold back a sneeze as his nostrils were invaded by the scent of flowers and nectar,
If there was one thing the Vampires and Werewolves shared in common, then it would have to be their extremely sensitive senses and their dislike for overwhelming scents.
"I am Lady Floraina of the Floral domain, High Elder of the Faerie Queen’s council, greetings to Alpha King Askel and how delightful it is to finally witness your ascension." The dainty looking female greeted in an unnecessarily cheery tone.
Askel hummed in response as he nodded at Luther who stepped forward to receive the gifts offered by the representative of the Faerie Queen.
"My Queen sends her regards King Askel, she deeply regrets being unable to grace the occasion of your ascension in person, it is sad that there is much to be attended in our domain, however she hopes to host you in the floral domain sometime." Lady Floraina said cheerily.
"You may forego the formalities, we all know your queen said nothing of the such. She would rather have the new Alpha King killed, it wouldn’t be the first time she has tried." The Vampire Lord interrupted with a grumble while a hand was placed over his nose to block out the flowery scent.
In a split second, the calm and innocent demeanor of the dainty looking Lady Floraina changed completely as she passed a deadly glare over at Lord Kriden.
Her complete change in demeanor proving the already well known fact that the Faeries were the most deceptive race in the supernatural realm and absurd as it was, they took great pride in it.
"You blood sucking vermin!" Lady Floraina spat out in a fierce tone.
Once again affirming the well known fact that no two species had more bad blood between them than the Vampires and the Faeries,
Although the vampires were not known for their friendliness and so were on bad terms with almost everyone.
However where the vampires failed in restraint and diplomacy, they made up for in their straightforward methods, a trait the Faeries greatly lacked.
This was precisely why between the Vampires and the Faeries, one could not decide which was the most hated race, but both races were too busy hating each other to care about what the other races thought of them.
"But then again...you aren’t wrong, but which of your races hasn’t really? It’s just the way it is." Lady Floraina admitted proudly, her voice reverting back to it’s original cheeriness as though it was a thing if joy to admit the Faeries had made countless attempts on Askel’s life.
"Too bad all your attempts ended in complete failure, you even lost a prince at that." Lord Kriden sneered.
Askel watched the exchange with a frown,it was not an unusual sight to see the two races at each other’s throats, Askel however felt they should know much better than to have brought their unruliness to his banquet.
"You!" Lady Floraina exclaimed.
"Do not get worked up now My Lady, when you do...you exude more of that suffocating flowery scent." Lord Kriden cut in with a shake of his head.
