The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 33: Information Network ()
Zariah’s hands clenched into fists as she watched him, her shared bond with Nile and the manipulation of his spirit element allowing Zariah to watch the events through his eyes.
Zariah was not sure what infuriated her more, the fact that he was nothing like she had expected him to be or the fact that her first reaction after setting eyes on him was a short moment of awed stun.
Zariah had even felt her heart stop for a split second, before it had resumed beating again and then her rage which should have come first had finally set in.
This man that was the Alpha King, how could it be such a man?
This man who exuded a noble and regal aura, his every movement screaming of power, his stance imposing and radiating dominance in waves,
Although Zariah had not seen his face clearly, there was no need to see any further.
Everything about him was the peak of excellence, Zariah had never seen anything quite like this.
Zariah did not know what exactly she had expected, when she had set her mind to go against the Alpha King of the Ethereal domain, Zariah was not certain just what kind of person she had expected to see.
However whatever she had expected, it certainly was not this, not this man with an unearthly disposition, not this man who looked noble and honorable,
Zariah could swear if she did not already know the monster hidden beneath that facade, it would have been a case of respected recognition from one Alpha to another, for Zariah had truly seen the Alpha in him and she had felt her dominance challenged by his.
Zariah’s gaze narrowed as she watched the red glow of the ancient blood gems disperse to reveal the Alpha King who had reverted back to his human form, his enchanted black robes still intact on his form.
He walked up to the throne and sat while the Ethereal Alphas pledged their loyalty and complete fealty to him.
The doubt and ambition Zariah had seen in the eyes of a few Ethereal Alphas had completely disappeared, now replaced by deep respect and reverence,
Faced with the Alpha King of legends, the Creator’s choice was unquestionable, there was no choice but to completely submit to his leadership.
"How? How did I not know of this?" Zariah murmured in a tone of disbelief.
The information network of the Crimson Moon had always been of complete excellence, their reports were objective and timely, all their details accurate and their network spread far wider and deeper than anyone would like to believe.
Many thought the Crimson Moon had cut themselves off from the supernatural world and so had no idea of wordly affairs,
But only a few knew clearly that the Crimson Moon was more informed of the events beyond the barrier than any of the packs of the Ethereal domain.
Zariah could not believe such an event had taken place in her past life and she had not known of it, she had received no reports from their sources whatsoever.
In fact, she had received no reports regarding the new Alpha King in her past lifetime, right from the moment he took the throne.
There was absolutely no way her scouts could have chosen not to report this event, yet it was a fact that Zariah had received no such reports in her previous lifetime.
Or perhaps it had not taken place in her previous lifetime at all and this train of thought was even more worrisome.
Zariah frowned slightly as suspicion grew in her heart at the peculiarity of the situation.
"Just what exactly has been going on beyond the barrier, what kind of mess have you made of the Ethereal domain?" Zariah murmured quietly, her eyes narrowed.
Zariah studied the Alpha King through her mind’s eyes as everything Nile saw was reflected in her mind through Nile’s gift of sight.
"Alpha King Askel Vance Niolen... so this is what you look like?" Zariah thought to herself, her heart clenching in hatred and rage.
There was something about this Alpha King that stirred a glimmer of curiosity in Zariah, but the thirst for vengeance overwhelmed every other consideration.
"The Creator’s chosen King? Playing games already, are we?" Zariah murmured quietly as her eyes fluttered open slowly.
"You are quite something, you have completely overturned the dissent of the Ethereal Alphas in one move, whoever is daring enough to question the Creator’s will?" Zariah asked.
Zariah could not be certain how such an important event in the supernatural realm had been kept from the Crimson Moon and in which case, just what had happened to the information network?
Zariah had a nagging feeling something worrisome had already began and the Crimson Moon was at the heart of it all.
If truly their information network had been tampered by someone, blocking off vital information from reaching Crimson Moon, then Zariah knew for certain it would all lead back to one person... the Alpha King.
Zariah’s heart tightened as she realized the Alpha King’s plan, whatever it was, it was already in motion, perhaps it had long began even while the previous Alpha King still lived.
Zariah had concluded she had come on time, that at least fate had finally done her one single favor, that she had arrived before the Alpha King could lay his hand on true power.
The Alpha King had just been crowned today, Zariah had thought she would have ample time to destroy him in a slow, excruciating manner,
To ruin all that he had built before his feet solidified on the Ethereal throne, Zariah could not believe just how wrong she had been.
This man, this Alpha King, if he truly already had the power to infiltrate her information network, then it could only mean he was an even greater threat than Zariah had imagined.
Information was the most vital asset of any pack, cutting off an information network was like gouging out the eyes and leaving them flailing blindly without the slightest inclination of the danger headed their way.
Even now, the war had already been declared, and while the Crimson Moon remained clueless within their barrier, this monster had ruthlessly cut off their limbs one after the other.
While they were out in the open, he had been in the shadows plotting and scheming, Zariah could not help a small shudder.
This Alpha King, his methods were precise and objective yet ruthless and despicable beyond compare.
Zariah was not surprised, for one to even go as low as manipulating the sacred mate bond, to plot the destruction of a pack by completely deceiving a clueless and helpless woman,
To have played games with an innocent heart and an innocent love and drive a dagger through that heart when they were done with it, even the word ’despicable’ was not enough to classify him.
How could Crimson Moon have escaped his clutches? How could they have prevailed when they had been so carefully and thoroughly plotted against?
The play field had been carefully structured right from the start and Zariah had been like a puppet pulled along by the strings of her heart.
Zariah was slowly beginning to understand it and her blood boiled with rage at the unfairness of it all, at how stupidly trusting she had been.
Zariah’s fist clenched so tightly, blood dripped down her hands from where her nails dug into her flesh yet Zariah could hardly feel it.
With her mind clouded with rage and her heart panting for vengeance, to deliver to him the very same coin he had dealt to the Crimson Moon...no a hundred times worse than what he has dealt to Crimson Moon.
"I am not the same person I was anymore, I will let you see just what the true power of the Crimson Alpha is."
"Blood for blood, life for life...You have drawn the sword first. And you think I will let you have your way?" Zariah said with a shake of her head, her lips stretched in a dark smile as she rose to her feet and stepped out to her balcony, her deadly gaze overlooking the Ethereal palace.

"Alpha, there will be a moon banquet to commiserate the Alpha King’s enthronement. We have relayed your intentions to only attend a personal meeting with the Alpha King and elders of the Royal Lycan Pack."
"The Alpha King has extended a personal invitation for your attendance to the moon banquet tonight and hopes to have you honor it."
"On my return from the throne room, he has sent his Second in command along with me to convey his words and attend to whatever needs we may have." Nile reported with a bow.
Zariah had been staring over the balcony, lost in thoughts and she had not even noticed the hours had passed by and it was already mid day.
"I saw..." Zariah murmured in an absent minded tone.
"He has already extended such a respectful invitation, granting us such high regards amongst all the guests in the Ethereal palace, naturally, it would be inappropriate to turn it down." Nile reasoned.
"Ah...of course, we cannot afford to be inappropriate before the Ethereal King of Wolves, can we?" Zariah replied in a rhetorical question.
’Well... since I have already come, I cannot let you have such a smooth life can I?’ Zariah thought to herself.
