The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 25: An Alluring Scent ()
"M’tellin you Roy, tis perfectly fine. The Royal Lycan border is far enough and with the Alpha King’s enthronement nearer, the Royal Lycan warriors to have a lot keepin’em occupied, border patrol is always lax at such times." A scratchy voice with a strange accent reached Zariah’s hearing.
Zariah felt the rogue’s manner of speaking was rather strange, skipping over important words and placing some words wrongly.
"Seriously Pete, we are too close to Royal Lycan border, I heard the new Alpha King is dark and ruthless, this is dangerous." Another voice replied to the first voice.
Zariah quirked a brow at the mention of the Alpha King.
"It seems the Alpha King is not allied with the rogues yet." Zariah thought to herself.
In the past lifetime, the rogue wolves had been led by Caedmon Grey along with his loyal wolves to breach the Crimson barrier and attack the crimson moon.
Without the aid of the rogue wolves, Zariah was certain Caedmon Grey would not have stood a chance against the Crimson Moon with his strength alone.
The crimson wolves were highly trained in combat, even with the loss of their elements, they should not have been so easily defeated.
Yet the sheer numbers of the rogue wolves had outnumbered the Crimson wolves ten to one and after centuries of peaceful existence, how could the Crimson Wolves dream to measure up to the savagery of the rogue wolves?
The Crimson wolves had been caught off guard, overwhelmed and massacred.
Right from the very start, they had fought a loosing battle and Zariah’s eyes flashed with rage at the thought of the injustice.
It had been apparent to Zariah then that Caedmon Grey had an army under his command and was most likely Alpha of a pack in the outworld,
It was also clear the rogue wolves had some sort of alliance with Caedmon Grey.
Zariah had confirmed in her last moments that Caedmon Grey had acted under the orders of the Alpha King all along hence it was not an overstep to conclude that the Alpha King and the rogues would form some sort of alliance.
Or perhaps they were already allied and this was just a bunch of ignorant rogues who did not know of the secret dealings of the Ethereal domain.
"Stop ye whining Roy, we be far gone afore the Royal Lycan warriors ever noticed we came through." The first scratchy voice came again.
Not long after, the five rogues emerged from the trees, three in wolf form and two in human form.
It took the rogue wolves a moment before they noticed Zariah’s presence leaning against a tree some distance away from them.
They stared at Zariah for a moment before they seemed to realize she was just a female based on her thin form.
Zariah’s nose twitched as she caught the scent of male testerones, although her expression remained unfazed, Zariah could barely restrain her disgust.
"Well, well, well...we strike gold Roy, if it ain’t a pretty little one." The first scratchy voice whispered in an elated tone, keeping his voice low, believing Zariah was asleep.
Zariah felt it was rather silly of the rogue wolves to assume she was pretty when her face was completely covered by a large black hood.
But then again, Zariah guessed it would not matter what she looked like, all that mattered to the savage wolves was the fact that she was female, an object to satisfy their perverted desires.
"Out here all alone in the middle of the night? Isn’t it a little too suspicious? And wouldn’t it be troublesome if the she wolf is Royal Lycan? You know how protective they are of their females." The second voice who seemed to be the more sensible of the two countered in a low tone.
"Whoever cares? She be right here before our eyes and I see just one of her and five of us." The first voice said in a dismissive tone.
"As I said, we be long gone before the Royal Lycan warriors notice we came through." The first voice added in a giddy tone.
The first approached Zariah slowly, leaning down some distance away from her to confirm she was asleep.
The first reached a hand out and carefully lifted Zariah’s hood, gasping in surprise as Zariah’s face was revealed.
"Why? She couldn’t be a mortal could she? No such beauty walk this earth." The first commented in a shocked tone as he got a closer look of Zariah beneath the large hood of her cloak that covered her face.
Zariah’s nose scrunched up as a wave of putrid odour wafted over her face, coming from the rogue wolf who was in a proximity much too close to her.
"You stink, get out of my face." Zariah murmured quietly as her eyes fluttered open suddenly.
The first rogue staggered backwards in alarm at the suddenness of Zariah’s actions, Zariah felt their senses were rather dim to have truly believed she was asleep.
The other three in their wolf form released low growls as the first rogue quickly righted himself, clearly embarrassed by his own frightened reaction.
"She be a fierce one, I will enjoy every second of tasting her." The first declared in a depraved lustful tone, the scent of his arousal thick and suffocating.
Zariah scrunched her nose up in disgust as she watched the five rogues slowly surround her, blocking off all means of escape as though Zariah would attempt to make a run for it.
"You do not seem to be from these parts, a little girl like you, so alone and so far from home. Heaven’s forbid some horrid wolf take advantage of you, why don’t you come along with us? If you are good, we can protect you." The second rogue offered, wiggling his brows suggestively while the first rogue cackled maniacally.
"Right now, I fear you are the one in need of protection, although I do not suppose anything can protect you from me now." Zariah murmured as she slowly rose to her feet.
Zariah adjusted her hood properly so it completely covered her face once again before she turned to face the first rogue.
"Since I cannot get a moment peace to clear my thoughts, I suppose stretching works too. Let’s start with the blundering fool." Zariah decided, gesturing towards the first rogue.
"Why you!" The first rogue exclaimed in fury as he leaped into the air, shifting into his scrawny wolf form, he lunged at Zariah, his claws aimed straight for Zariah’s throat.
Zariah stretched her hand out and a long sword materialized in it, she twisted her hand slightly and the length of the blade was lit up with flames.
Zariah spun around and swung her sword in a wide arch, it all happened in the blink of an eye, the glinting blade sliced right through flesh, muscles and bones as though they were nothing,
The very next moment, the airborne rogue wolf dropped to the ground with a thud, his head rolling away from the rest of his body.
The remaining rogues were clearly alarmed by Zariah’s actions and just as Zariah lifted her sword, her Crimson orbs glowing with bloodthirsty vengeance, an exquisitely alluring scent wafted through her nostrils.
"What is that scent?" Zariah thought in amazement as her heart rate picked up and her eyes fluttered closed, taking a deeper breath of that enticing scent.
The scent was a mix of wood and fresh rain alongside a hint of lavender, all the scents Zariah loved, mixed up in one exhilarating scent.
It scented like nature in it’s purest form and the more of the scent Zariah took in, the more of it she wanted to take in,
Zariah found herself unable to get enough as her feet moved of their own accord, closer to the source of that scent,
Zariah’s environment faded to the background as she took in deeper breaths, the scent overwhelming her thoughts and mind.
And then all of a sudden, a chill crept up Zariah’s spine like a bowl of freezing water had been splashed over her,
Zariah’s heart trembled violently and then sank at the realization of just what this scent meant and a single word rang through Zariah’s mind,
A word that shook Zariah to the very core in sheer terror even as that same word echoed through the quiet forest in a possessive growl.
"Mine!!!" A deep, throaty voice growled out as a broad male figure emerged from the trees and immediately lunged at the nearest rogue with terrifying ferocity,
His movements were like a blur and all Zariah could hear was the terrified screams and howls of the rogues and sound of ripping flesh.
The strange male moved with such speed and ferocity while still in human form that Zariah did not even catch a glimpse of him and she did not linger around to.
"I cannot have a mate! I do not want a mate!" Zariah frantically thought in her head, her mind moved in a panicked rush as she spun around and dashed away through the forest, running as fast as her legs could carry her.
