Chapter 233: An Offer 2 (Ch.233)

"And why, you might wonder? Because, had you succeeded in claiming Alpha King Askel, then Alpha Zariah would be mine already." Caedmon revealed, his tone tight.

Vivienne had never thought of it in that way, she had been more concerned with getting her way than contemplating on who else would benefit from it.

"Sadly, you failed. And so here we are... now while you may have given up and intend to run away with your tail between your legs," Caedmon continued.

Vivienne snarled to indicate she did not appreciate Caedmon’s statement,

"I do not plan on letting go of Zariah. And for that, I will need your help... and helping me will in turn be beneficial to you." Caedmon stated simply.

Vivienne’s ears twitched slightly, she retreated as Caedmon moved closer and placed a vial on the ground before he took a few steps back.

Vivienne stared at the vial and the strange liquid within it, taking her snout closer to the vial, she sniffed it suspiciously before she fixed Caedmon with a questioning look.

"In that vial is an extremely rare potion, one you can only find once in a lifetime. The potion has the ability to sever a mate bond for good, regardless of if either of the two parties accept the severing or not..."

"Which means, unlike a rejection, the potion does not need anyone to accept the rejection for the severing to be sealed." Caedmon explained.

"What I require of you is to feed this to Alpha King Askel. Once the bond between he and Zariah ceases to exist, I will step in and make certain to take Zariah out of the picture...it will not be difficult, you know as well as I do just how difficult it is to resist the mate bond."

"You yourself stuck by Kirk despite his frivolities for years because of the same bond, despite the indignation you had to bear. Now, with the bond with Askel gone, only one mate’s bond will be left... between Zariah and I." Caedmon said sinisterly.

"How does this benefit you? If you have not already figured it out, the severing will take its toll on both parties involved, especially since it is a fully consummated bond. Askel and Zariah would both be in pain and despair... vulnerable and hollow..."

"In such a case, Zariah will have me to welcome her with open arms. And Askel will have no one, that is where you come in...and what is even more? I can promise you to delay Kirk for a few days more so you will have your fair chance at having a place at Askel’s side before he arrives." Caedmon presented an irresistible offer.

"I can even get rid of him for good, if you so desire..." Caedmon added with a smirk, he was certain his offer was not one Vivienne could refuse.

"I will take Zariah away with me immediately and Askel will be too weakened to resist. In that way, we can both get what we want and go our respective ways." Caedmon finished.

Vivienne’s heart trembled, a tinge of excitement stirred within her. Could it truly be that easy? All she had to do was feed Askel a potion?

Vivienne still had quite some influence here in the Ethereal Palace, she could find a way to get the potion to Askel without it ever tracing back to her. And that was all it would take? She would be Alpha Queen and never have to think of Kirk again?

Vivienne moved closer to the vial but paused when Caedmon clicked his tongue slightly.

"Not so fast, I have two more conditions...you do not expect to acquire such benefits without putting in some work, do you?" Caedmon asked.

Vivienne retreated slowly, her sharp gaze fixed cautiously on Caedmon, she had known it could not be that simple.

"Do not be concerned, you only need to do two more little tasks for me." Caedmon said to Vivienne.

"First, there is something in the possession of Allen, the Crimson Beta which I would like you to steal." Caedmon began.

Vivienne took some steps back at the mention of that.

"Do not fret, I will create an allowance for you to be able to with the next task. The second task is, after feeding the potion to Askel, I need you to find a way to lure him out to the human town... that way I can swiftly retrieve Zariah without his notice." Caedmon presented the second task.

"Do not give me that look. All you have to do is feed him a potion and lure him out, get creative... you were once to be an enforcer of the Royal Lycans before you got entangled with Kirk, you must have some brains on you." Caedmon said dismissively when Vivienne’s eyes narrowed.

"Well?" Caedmon asked Vivienne for her decision.

Vivienne hesitated for the longest moment, contemplating her options. She was not certain if she could successfully perform the tasks, but the thought of letting go of such a golden opportunity was difficult to conceive.

If only accepting Caedmon’s proposal would delay Kirk’s arrival for a few days to allow Vivienne to figure a way out, even if she failed at everything else, buying herself some time was already a good enough result compared to her present predicament.

Beyond that, between Alpha King Askel, Alpha Zariah and Vivienne’s ex mate Kirk, which one of them would help Vivienne in her time of need? When even her own father was ready to cast her out?

Vivienne knew it, her fate was in her own hands. Queen Sancia had also abandoned her, Vivienne owed no one loyalties.

With that, Vivienne lowered her head to a small bow, indicating she accepted the bargain.

"In that case, I shall send word to you soon." Caedmon said to Vivienne.

Without another word, he disappeared into the forest, leaving Vivienne to stare at the vial, lost in her own thoughts.

With Caedmon gone, Vivienne could not help but wonder,

’Just what had she gotten herself into?’
