The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 129: Words ()
"How...how did you know?" Kristen asked in bafflement,
Kristen was completely shocked, Nile had not even realized he was his mate and King Askel had already figured it out?
"It’s obvious." King Askel replied in a blank tone, still staring out ahead.
Kristen fell quiet as he gazed down at Nile, his thumb rubbing soothing circles over the back of Nile’s hand, whether to soothe Nile or his ownself, he was not certain.
Perhaps it was both, Kristen knew his heart would not be eased till was awake and staring back at him with a bright smile on his lips.
"He doesn’t recognize me yet...I don’t understand it. We have been together for days and we’ve had skin contact repeatedly, still yet... he doesn’t feel what I feel." Kristen murmured quietly.
Kristen passed a glance to King Askel whose expression remained indifferent and wondered why he was even talking at all,
He just felt the need to complain to someone and King Askel was the only one in sight, Kristen also hoped there was someone who could explain it to him.
As much as Kristen tried not to think of it, it bothered him greatly that Nile did not recognize him as his mate, he had never heard of such a thing before.
Kristen heaved a quiet sigh as he wondered what would happen after all of this was over, how exactly would he explain what he was to Nile?
Would Nile even be willing to accept him? Mate bonds between different species were not unheard of, but they were rare and Kristen was not certain how it would work between him and Nile.
Kristen was willing to leave everything behind and go with Nile wherever Nile wanted to go, he would give everything and anything for a lifetime with Nile, and so he wondered,
Would he always be the only one to feel the effects of the mate bond while Nile would remain none the wiser?
After everything the mers had done to Lady Zariah, what would Nile think of being mated to one of them? Would he loathe it?
Nile clearly valued his family and his pack more than anything else in the world, the Crimson Moon were so mysterious in their ways, there was hardly anything known about them.
What would they think of him and Nile? Would the Crimson Wolves look kindly on Kristen? Would they be accepting of him?
Now that Kristen was certain he would live, he had begun to have so many concerns and apprehensions,
Life was truly ironic, although Kristen did not want to die, he admitted things were much less complicated when he had resigned himself to death.
"Scale to skin...fur to skin, a mate bond between two different supernatural species are unique in the sense that they require more than skin to skin contact or a scent."
"It is much more particular, skin contact with your mate’s true form. You have come in contact with Nile’s fur, while your scales disappeared in the wake of the flame poison."
"He has not had contact with your scales, it is only natural you know of it and he does not. That does not change the fact that his heart will know what his mind is yet to realize... hence why he spares no efforts to save you."
" You mers need to read more, your oracle must have a difficult time having to explain everything to you." King Askel murmured distastefully.
Kristen perked up, his eyes widening in realization as he now understood what was off all along.
Kristen recalled he had felt the light graze of Nile’s fur against his neck, electrifying sparks shooting through him as Nile’s hand tightened around his throat, cutting off his breathing.
In Nile’s rage and protectiveness for Zariah, his wolf had risen to the surface causing a half shift, and Kristen had stared up into the glowing eyes of Nile’s wolf and that was the moment he had known.
There had been a skin to fur contact, meanwhile Kristen himself had lost the ability to take his true form for a time due to the flame poison which meant there was truly no way Nile could have known.
"When he awakens, he will recognize me then?" Kristen asked excitedly.
"When he awakens, he will come with me to see Zariah and so will you."
"Your love story can wait, your Sea Kingdom is about to become a battle ground and that Trident might be the only thing to stop it." King Askel said.
"A battle?! What has happened?!" Kristen exclaimed in shock,
"Lord Imain of the Northern Seas got greedy, perhaps there might be a new Sea King before the day is over. Whatever it is, I need to get back to my mate with that trident." King Askel explained briefly.
"Creator’s scale!" Kristen exclaimed in shock as he now understood why King Askel was so displeased, to have come here leaving Lady Zariah in obvious danger must have been a difficult decision for him.
Before Kristen could say anything else, the currents of the seas changed all of a sudden and the waters began churning furiously,
There was an ominous shrieking sound emitted from outside the cave, the dim lighting suddenly turned into complete darkness and Kristen knew something had tampered with the glow rocks.
A flash of light shone past the entrance of the cavern and Kristen exchanged a glance with King Askel.
"Zariah..." King Askel said in a dark, deadly tone before he stormed out of the cave and was gone in the blink of an eye.
Kristen’s eyes widened when that very same statement was echoed by someone else.
Kristen turned over to Nile who now stared straight at him and as Kristen opened his mouth to speak, Nile shook his head.
"Zariah’s magic, I feel it... she’s here, she’s close and she’s not happy." Nile announced as he rose to his feet and grabbed the Tide Trident.
"Zariah wants the trident... we have to get it to her." Nile said to Kristen.
Kristen nodded without hesitation as he took the Tide Trident from Nile and his change came over him, his legs merging together into a single appendage to form his tail.
The 11ft long appendage was covered in beautiful glowing, moon shaped scales, a silvery blue shade.
Sharp fins grew out from the back of his elbows and the mid portion of his tail while scales grew across his skin like an armor.
The tips of Kristen’s ears sharpened and his hair extended in length, his eye sight and senses all grew sharper and much more alert as he could now feel every ripple of change in the water.
Kristen extended a hand to Nile who smiled and took his hand without hesitation.
Sharp, electrifying jolts rushed through Kristen, as it always did whenever Nile’s skin touched his since that moment of fur to skin contact,
Kristen watched Nile’s gaze, his scales covered his skin and so he knew that this was it, Nile would know now what they were to each other.
Kristen was surprised to see no shocked expression in Nile’s eyes, the lips of the spirit guide only quirked up into a smile as he tightened his hold on Kristen’s hand.
"You knew?" Kristen asked in surprise and Nile shook his head.
"Not here..." Nile said, lifting a finger to his head.
"But here..." Nile murmured, his hand going down to rest over his heart.
"I have never been so completely mystified by anyone like I was with you Kristen, these past few days, I have a seen a side of me that I never thought I would get to see."
"I know my heart Kristen and so I know when it beats for someone, hence I suspected there was something more."
"If you weren’t my mate... I would have you either ways. But the Creator is fair, you are mine after all..." Nile murmured as he pulled Kristen closer to himself and stared straight in his eyes. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"We shifters are very possessive and so I will have you know it and I will have you know it now and let your whole world know it along with you."
"That you are my mine!" Nile growled out in a possessive tone, his eyes flashing to reveal the presence of his wolf.
Kristen’s heart trembled at the possessiveness in Nile’s declaration, his throat clogging up as he nodded his head in agreement, unable to form a single word.
"Words Kristen... I want words." Nile demanded.
"Yours...all yours." Kristen murmured without hesitation and Nile grinned.
"Come, Zariah is waiting. We should get this off our hands..." Nile said, gesturing to the trident in Kristen’s grasp.
"That way, I have enough time to ravish you as I have desperately wanted to for the past ten days." Nile declared and Kristen gulped audibly,
Somehow he had a feeling he was in a lot of trouble and what was more apparent was the fact that he would love every second of it.
