The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 125: The Northern Seas ()
For the second time in barely a month, Zariah found herself being shoved into a cell once again.
The very moment the Sea King had arrived the Northern Seas, the Northern barrier had been erected and all escape routes were shut off.
While the Sea King had been escorted into the Northern Sea Palace, the rest of the procession were completely surrounded by hundreds of battle mers.
As Zariah had directed, they put on a brief display of resistance and then succumbed to the Northern battle mers, allowing themselves to be arrested.
Although it had been part of Zariah’s plan, she found she truly did have terrible luck with the Sea Kingdom.
The sooner she was able to get out, the better it would be for her and Zariah counted the seconds till she could take action.
Already, Lord Imain’s treachery had spread all through the Sea Kingdom as he had taken the Sea King custody the moment they arrived the Northern Sea Palace.
But with the Sea Lords all captured, all six seas were left incapable of retaliating and could only wait on standby.
With intents to force King Himan to abdicate, Lord Imain had not even bothered with Zariah at all, tossing her into the dungeons along with the Sea Lords.
Meanwhile, the waters swooshed ever so often and from the sounds of rushing waves above, Zariah knew the Sea King and Lord Imain were already engaged in a heated battle.
"We can’t just stay here! We have to help His Grace!’ A female voice shrieked from the prison cell next to Zariah’s and Zariah winced as the loud, piercing sound got straight to her head.
"Prince Treyton! You have to do something! Your father is up there, alone and surrounded by dozens of battle mers from the North Sea!" Another Sea Lord exclaimed.
Zariah passed a glance at her company in her jail cell, to think Lord Imain had actually locked up Prince Treyton with she who was supposedly a dangerous criminal,
It was obvious he did not care in the slightest for the well being of his grand nephew.
"Do something? What can you do?" Zariah murmured, already annoyed by the fact that two of the Sea Lords just would not stay quiet but kept screaming in outrage.
The Sea Lords all fell quiet and all their gazes turned to Zariah who was meditating in a corner, or at least attempting to,
It was hard to meditate when a certain Sea Lord with a bronze coloured tail and a muscular built just kept pouring out strings of unmentionable curses and swears at Lord Imain.
"You...who are you?" A voice asked from the prison cell beside Zariah.
Zariah lifted a gaze up to the cell where the Sea Lords had been imprisoned, her gaze meeting a pair of stormy grey orbs belonging to the man who had asked the question and she shrugged casually.
"Zariah." Zariah replied briefly,
"Who the hell cares who she is?! Isn’t she the criminal that was said to have snatched the trident?! All of this is her fault!" The merman with the bronze tail roared again, his tail flicking agitatedly as he slammed it into the metal bars for the hundredth time, causing a tremble.
Zariah did not attempt to defend herself, truly she had been the one to snatch the Tide Trident and spur Lord Imain to act on his intentions, she would not deny that fact, nor did she care what anyone thought of it.
Zariah’s goal was simple, she wanted to know exactly what Lord Imain knew and just how large a part he had played in the grand plan.
"Jole, stay put. Imain would not lock us up here if it would be so easy for us to break out." The merman with stormy grey eyes said to the merman with the bronze tail.
The merman with the bronze tail huffed beneath his breath as he retreated to an edge of the cell, leaning against the wall with an expression of displeasure.
"So that’s it? We have no way of contacting our seas, the Sea King has been captured... heaven knows what is going on above there causing all this tossing in the water and we’re just going to sit here and wait till the Sea King relinquishes rulership to Imain?" Lord Jole asked in distaste.
"Lord Imain has been preparing for this for who knows how long? He has hundreds of battle mers on the ready and the Northern barrier is sealed, it cannot be opened against Lord Imain’s will without the Tide Trident." Lady Olga murmured,
"No one leaves or enters the Northern Seas till the Sea King relinquishes his throne, to do so, Lord Imain must transfer the shadow mark binding him to the Northern Seas to another mer." The merman with stormy grey eyes, Lord Melven murmured.
"He will have Alan take his place as Northern Sea Lord, but how exactly does he plan to force the merfolk of the other six seas into submission?" Another of the Sea Lords whom Zariah had not been able to place a name to asked.
This was a question Zariah had already figured out the answer to and perhaps the only reason she was here in the first place,
To gain ultimate power over all seven seas, there was only one possible method and that was to make use of the darkness.
If the Sea Dome was unsealed, only the guardians of the Sea Dome knew what methods with which they could contain it and that also meant, there was a possibility that they could control it.
Like the demon tribes that had willingly merged with the darkness to enhance their own abilities, there were those who would chose to see their souls in exchange for ultimate power.
However the cost back then had been great, it altered the physical features of those demon tribes, converting them into hideous beasts and horrendous creatures with no hopes of ever regaining their human form.
When a supernatural tried to gain a power cursed by the Creator himself, it never did end well and those outlawed demon tribes learnt this the hard way and when it was already too late to turn things back.
When the forsaken were defeated, the Crimson Moon and the Demon King had not spared these demon tribes who had broken the laws of light by submitting to darkness of their own will.
Without the Crimson Moon having to do much, those cursed tribes had served as an eternal proof that the darkness was not to be trifled with for personal gains, no matter how greedy one got.
However to think that after centuries, the supernatural realm had forgotten that above them all was the Creator who directed the affairs of his creations,
Now, the greed of the supernaturals had led them into the arms of darkness again.
Zariah had not met Lord Imain in person but she could sense the darkness already poisoning the Northern Sea,
The traces were slight and barely even there, much like what Zariah had sensed on Kristen back then when she had met him guarding the Sky Bubble and Zariah finally understood why.
Prince Treyton had said Kristen was also a guardian of the Sea Dome once and had been posted to the Northern Seas for a time, that was until he had become Chief Royal Guard and returned to the Main Sea Palace.
Even after so long, the aura of darkness Kristen had come in contact with while he was a guardian of the Sea Dome had not faded off and lingered over him.
"Using the darkness caged within the Sea Dome. They will harness it somehow and they will force the merfolk into submission with this power." Zariah said, her response shocking the Sea Lords.
"Impossible! Lord Imain would never attempt something so horrendous!" Lord Jole exclaimed although the uncertainty in his tone showed he also did not believe himself.
"If someone had told you that one amongst you would stage a rebellion against the Sea King, would you have believed it?" Zariah challenged and Lord Jole hissed.
"What is that to mean?!" Lord Jole demanded.
"That is to say that you have already chosen to blind your eyes to the truth right before you and one like you... there is no need to even bother with you." Zariah murmured as she rose to her feet.
"How dare you??!" Lord Jole roared and Zariah rolled her eyes in boredom, it seemed the merfolk had grown accustomed to intimidating others using their status and authority, it was no wonder everything was in disarray down here.
At this point, the sea had gone still and it seemed Lord Imain and the Sea King were no longer present in the Sea Palace.
"It is about time we joined the show, I also would like to see just what Lord Imain has in store for us at the Sea Dome." Zariah murmured,
Zariah gazed down at the chains attached to her hand and watched as they melted beneath her gaze and with a wave of her hand, the cell doors swung open.
