Chapter 93: Chapter 93 Episode 010: You Go First, She Stays (2)

"Follow me."

Glenn Hutchinson withdrew his gaze and spoke lightly before turning and walking towards the Training Ground.

Without any hesitation, Flossie Wright was the first to step forward to follow him, closely followed by Becca Reyes, who had initially wanted to ask Flossie’s opinion but found her action to be redundant.

Under the night sky, as the light gradually faded, the silhouettes of the three figures disappeared into the chaotic darkness.

"Seven tasks, one hour."

Standing in front of the 400m obstacle course designed for a seaborne assault, Glenn Hutchinson did not even bother to explain further. His deep voice mingling with an attractive magnetism made his words impossible to ignore.

An hour, just in time to catch up with the wake-up time of the cooking class at four-thirty.

"Report," Becca Reyes suddenly stood at attention, standing stiffly like a post, her voice full of doubt as she asked, "What are the seven tasks?!"

It wasn’t that Becca Reyes was being overly dramatic, but not knowing what the training tasks were would make her anxious. No one would like to be caught off guard.

"You’ll find out then." Glenn Hutchinson responded coldly, showing no intention of answering as his gaze swept over the 400m obstacle course next to him. "Back and forth, twice."

Then, he pressed the timer in his hand in front of the two, marking the start of their time.

Without any announcement of the start, Becca Reyes, who was accustomed to the instructor’s hints, didn’t react for a moment. It wasn’t until she saw Flossie rushing forward that her mind made the connection, and she instinctively followed Flossie’s movements.

The 400m obstacle course for a seaborne assault is designed for real combat conditions. It typically includes a soft bridge, spiral staircase, high and low horizontal logs, rope net, tire climbing platform, rocking platform, shaking ladder, cross net, barrier wall, and simulated beach - ten obstacles in total.

These obstacles differed from the 400m course they had done before. They had to figure out each obstacle for the first time, so the time they spent couldn’t compare with that of the new recruits who practiced dozens of times every day.

Glenn Hutchinson, the man who designed the entire training program, once saw the initial results of the new recruits – the data was too dreadful to read.

But these two cooks progressing in the dark...

Overwhelmed most of the soldiers.

About fifteen minutes later, Becca Reyes, panting, stood in front of Glenn, shouting, "Report, finished."

Glenn Hutchinson glanced at her, but his eyes quickly shifted to Flossie, who was still in the middle of the obstacle course.

No urgency in her. Her actions were steady, methodical. When she saw Becca surpass her, she didn’t even look up. She seemed like a person with not much competitiveness.

But then...

Glenn Hutchinson’s eyes narrowed slightly as he buried his thoughts deep within.

Flossie finished a few minutes later, but as she walked towards Glenn, her steps clearly slowed down. Her legs felt like they were filled with lead, restricting her movements.

But Glenn Hutchinson didn’t give her any chance to rest. He took his eyes off her, and before she could get close enough, he spoke coldly, "Stand at attention!"

With a smack, both of them stood at attention simultaneously, albeit Flossie’s was weak and not very diligent.

"Push-ups and squats, five hundred each."

Glenn Hutchinson simply announced the next training session and then walked over to Flossie, bypassing Becca.

Flossie Wright glanced at him unexpectedly. When she noticed his gaze fixated on her, her eyebrows furrowed involuntarily.

"What are you doing?" Flossie asked back, clearly annoyed with his inspecting gaze.

"Counting for you," Glenn Hutchinson said calmly. His tone was assertive, admitting no objection. After a pause, he added casually, "You have a previous ’record’."

"..."

Flossie’s mouth twitched.

Indeed, she had previous "records," and plenty of them. The most significant one was the last time she cheated in the swimming task by diving underwater, which he discovered.

Giving him a sharp glance, Flossie gritted her teeth and started doing push-ups and squats. There was no room for deception.

Needless to say, Flossie was lagging in every task. When she had finally finished push-ups and squats, Becca had almost fully rested.

And they still had many more tasks awaiting them. After the anti-dizziness training, the two were dragged by Glenn Hutchinson to a 500-meter shooting range where they had to reassemble a dismantled gun. After the shooting, Glenn didn’t even show them the scores, he pointed to a log and had them run 1000 meters with it on their shoulders. When they were exhausted, he tossed them a box of grenades for them to throw. There were so many tasks that there wasn’t even time to think. The training finally ended with pull-ups.

By the time they had done one hundred pull-ups, Flossie and Becca collapsed on the grass, too lazy to move.

At this time, it was still dark, the period of deepest darkness before dawn. Only the street lights around them illuminated a small area so they could see roughly what was going on.

The two lying on the ground were faintly hidden in the darkness, like two dead bodies.

Glenn Hutchinson stood leisurely aside, not paying any attention to them. In his hand was a piece of paper that he hadn’t had a moment ago, recording all the scores and times of their tasks.

"Ah, Commander, what time is it now?"

Suddenly, Becca Reyes rolled over from the ground, looking anxiously at Glenn Hutchinson.

The cooking class always woke up quite early. If their sneaking out was discovered, it would have been serious enough. If it also delayed the work of the cooking class, it would not be a joking matter.

Glenn Hutchinson glanced at his watch, "Ten minutes left."

Flossie, still lying on the ground, barely lifted her eyelids, not wanting to interact with him.

"Flossie..."

Looking at Flossie, who showed no signs of moving, Becca tried to wake her. But before she could finish her name, Glenn Hutchinson next to them interrupted -

"You can go first, she stays."
