The Ace Sniper Wife-Chapter 308 Episode 038 Memories Canβt Stand Against Time (5)
"Feeling better yet?"
Lifting her eyes, Flossie Wright gently asked the question, her tone as calm as ever, not evoking any particular emotion.
"Mmm." responded Janice Wood, her lips pursed slightly, giving a nod. ππ«πππ¨ππ―ππ πππ.ππΌπ
With a sense of relief, Flossie tossed away the weeds in her hand, glanced over the vibrant land before her, and spoke lightheartedly, "Got a story, want to hear?"
Looking at her with confusion, Janice nodded earnestly, "Mmm."
For some reason, Janice felt instinctively that Flossie was about to share more than just a simple story.
Of course, Flossie never made up tales; she seldom recalled the past, but when she did, she always recounted her own experiences. Even if she didnβt star as the protagonist, and no matter how the truth might be manipulated.
That was the first time Janice had seen Flossie speak at such length.
The story revolved around an unhappy family. The husband, an entrepreneur, maintained countless mistresses, and the wife, a well-bred woman, charmed by the manβs sweet talk, married him and devoted herself entirely to domestic life, even cutting off contact with her old friends.
The couple had two children, an obedient, beautiful daughter, and a smart, lively son.
The wife was aware of her husbandβs infidelity, but due to her children, she never fought back. She occasionally resisted and argued with her husband, always resulting in beatings and reprimands. As her husbandβs visits home dwindled, her hope dimmed to a lifeless gray.
Up until that point, the story seemed normal and commonplace.
But then a major turning point occurred in this family.
An audacious mistress paid a visit, provoking the wife right in front of her. Ruthlessly, she caused the death of the less-than-two-year-old son. The man, who rushed back to witness his sonβs gruesome death and his wifeβs agonizing grief, astonishingly sided with his favored mistress. He used his money to cover up the whole incident, making his sonβs death appear to be an "accident".
Two days later, the mother, still grieving over her lost son, paid a hefty price to trace the mistress, then hired gangsters to torment her to death. The woman recorded the entire process and sent it all to her husband.
At the same time, she got him addicted to drugs.
As her husbandβs company declared bankruptcy, she jumped from a building with a smile on her face, ending her life.
"And then?" Janice listened with furrowed brows, her curiosity piqued by the tale.
What happened to the drug addicted man?
What about the little girl in their family?
Flossie lifted her gaze, speaking concisely, "The man ended up in a rehab center, and the daughter was taken by the mob."
"And then..."
Janice wanted to ask if the story ended there, although she was more eager to find out who the "daughter" in Flossieβs story really was.
"Well, afterward..."
Resting her hand on her chin, Flossie contemplated for a moment. Clearly, the story was just getting started, so she continued.
In Flossieβs view, the first part of the story was nothing more than a melodramatic soap opera. Despite the intriguing revenge, it didnβt really stand out. The next part, however, was much more captivating.
Blame it on the womanβs naivety; dealing with the mob came with its risks. These people also trafficked children. The little girl was sold many times, finally escaping to a foreign country on her own from the southwestern provinces. However, she was always down on her luck. She landed in a country embroiled in war where blood and death were the norm, and her fate took a drastic turn there.
