Lieutenant Rock: "You are already treating him like a spy or a criminal; there's no way that his lordship would agree to something like this."

Malcolm: "Relax, it's not like we are poisoning him, RTX-981 is just the latest truth serum."

Lieutenant Rock: "Truth serum, my ass. You know that there was a study about the side effect that could influence the spirituality of the individual, affecting their soul and spirit. Some of the poor test subjects were not as lucky as the drug destroyed their paths as beast tamers."

Malcolm: "You are well-read, lieutenant, but that's the early RTX series. This little vial in my hand is the fruit of so many trials and errors. I told you before, the higher-ups value Seed 33 more than you will ever know; they would not allow me to proceed if there was a danger of destroying such a talent.

Lieutenant Rock: "It's not about this poison either. You are already breaking the humane act by using such a method on someone innocent."

Malcolm: "You forget that the members of our organization are not protected by such an act, and if there was any suspicion on the organization's behalf that there was a traitor or a spy, any method could be applied to ensure the security of the organization. Your memory is bad, I guess."

Lieutenant Rock: "But he's not. He is just a seed who hasn't reached the finish line. If he had chosen to be a combatant, he would have to go through the trial before he is officially recognized as a member of this organization, so what you are doing is practically torturing a civilian. Enough with the b*******! You will stop immediately until I call his lordship for instruction; otherwise, don't blame me for being uncourteous."

Malcolm: "There is no need for you to go and specifically request communication from the lordship; I happen to have a direct line and the permission to reach him at any time, so why don't we call his lordship together to confirm both of our next moves?"

The final hope inside the lieutenant's heart crumpled like a piece of broken glass as Malcolm operated his terminal, directly requesting communication right in front of the lieutenant.

You would be surprised, as this is a black site; every single communication is monitored and can only be done at a specific time, yet Malcolm appears to have bypassed all these restrictions completely, holding a higher authority than the highest on the site.

The buzzing sound aligned perfectly with a the loud sound of the lieutenant's beating heart, a sudden click completely confirming the person on the other end picked up the call as only the voice this time spread through the room.

The source of this c𝐨ntent is freeweɓnovēl.coɱ.

"What is the emergency? You still haven't reported the result of your examination."

Malcolm: "I apologize for disturbing you, Your Lordship, but I had to call you; otherwise, a great deal of disturbance would have happened in this black site, as the commander of the site, Lieutenant Rock, did not believe that I had the permission to do anything at my disposal to confirm once and for all if seed number 33 is an implant, either a spy or a future traitor.

The lieutenant is listening right now, so please, your lordship, give us your orders."

"Lieutenant Rock"

Lieutenant Rock: "Yes, sir!"

"Here are my orders: You are to provide all the necessary assistance to the special intelligence officer to find out the truth about seed number 33 by any means necessary."

Lieutenant Rock: "Your lordship, he's planning to use the RTX drugs on the boy while he's in a suspended place in a semi-conscious state where his psyche is most vulnerable."

There was silence that felt suffocating for everyone in the room. One or two minutes went by before there was a response from the other end of the call.

"My orders will remain the same, but as a special intelligence officer, you can do anything you want to extract the truth as long as you do not destroy Seed 33 potential talent and put his life at risk.

Once you're finished, both of you will report to me. That's all."

Malcolm: "Proceed, Gavin; we have our permission directly from his lordship. Administer the drug."

Standing above the broken door, the lieutenant clenched his fist so tightly that blood started to drip from between his fingers.

Out of nowhere, a voice interrupted everything, coming from behind the lieutenant outside of the room.

Instructor Mark: "What is going on…"

Before the instructor could finish his question, the lieutenant disappeared before reappearing right behind him, targeting a vital spot and delivering a systematic attack, completely putting the instructor to sleep in a single fluid motion.

Gavin, who just started administering the drug, could not help but take a look as he was stumped by the sudden development, but the moment his eyes followed the place that the lieutenant was looking at.

In his eyes, the reflection of Malcolm disappeared as a vicious look with those twisted expressions and the hand that was slightly raised, completely showing the predator's readiness to attack.

Malcolm: "Wise choice."

Lieutenant Rock: "I'll be watching every step. Once I feel there is danger to number 33, I'm stopping everything, and I truly hope you stand in my way."

Malcolm did not bother responding to the useless threat in his ears as he turned around to watch the show start.

Only to find Gavin frozen.

Malcolm: "What are you doing!!"

Gavin: "Ahh yes, administering the drug now."

The small vial in Gavin's hand was inserted into the pod as the greenish liquid drained slowly, mixing with the fluid inside the pod.

The next step is to wait for the drug to take effect, as the walls that protect anyone's secret crumple down, leaving the true state of everything completely exposed.

.....

10 minutes later Gavin's voice finally broke the silence in the room.

Gavin: "The serum should have taken effect. You can start now."

Malcolm responded by nodding his head as he sat on the ground in front of the pod as if he was planning to enter a meditative state.

Meanwhile, Gavin retreated as far as he could.

As he sat still, completely crossing his legs with his hands joined together, a massive wave of Ena fluctuation spread throughout the room as lines started to appear all over his body.

Ushering in a start of the process, the trial of Innocence began under Malcolm's hand.

Lieutenant Rock: "Pull up his vitals on the huge screen."

Ordering Gavin to do the final act to ensure the well-being of 33 was all that the lieutenant could do.

...

Alan: "How long have I been here?!"

This question was floating in Alan's consciousness as he felt like he was drifting in a vast ancient ocean where time itself did not exist.

Inside the ethereal space Alan was trapped in, there was only silence, him and his thoughts, which was a nostalgic state that he clearly knows and remembers.

Suddenly there was a soothing voice invading the stillness of the place.

"Tell me your name."

Strangely enough, the words came out as quickly as the question was finished.

Alan: "My name is Alan."

"What do you aspire to be or do in your life, Alan?"

Alan: "I want to live my life protecting the newfound warmth that my loved ones gave me."

"Is that why you decided to join the organization?"

Alan: "I saw true strength in all the members of this organization, and as someone said to me previously, get out of your bubble and see the true world. If I want to protect my loved ones, I need strength. The organization is the place that can provide me with that."

"Tell me what keeps you awake at night."

Alan: "Nightmares from a distant past, haunting me every night the moment I close my eyes. I remember them."

"But according to your records, there was never a trauma in your past."

Alan: "Then why do I feel agony every time I visit this room?"

"That was not an answer. How could you have a trauma of the past without the past itself?"

Alan "because it was the past of the past"

"Who supported you in joining the organization?"

Alan: "My family and friends."

"Let me rephrase that for you: who wanted you to join the organization?"

Alan: "Everyone was actually against it. It was my decision."

"Then let me ask you directly, are you a traitor or a spy coming to infiltrate the organization?"

Alan: "No why would you think that?"

"Three reasons

One is the anomaly you caused when you first joined, undergoing the test of the compatibility.

Second, you have a trauma from the past , for which we found no records, which is completely abnormal.

Third, after a thorough search, we found a small contradiction in your background, which proved that your background was meticulously crafted and nothing but a false identity.

So who are you??"

Alan: "What do you mean my identity is false? I told you I am Alan."

"So you will choose the hard way. The hard way it is."

"I will repeat my question again: Are you a spy or a traitor trying to infiltrate the organization, and who is behind you?"

Alan: "I am not a spy nor a traitor. No one is behind me."

The clear answer stumped the questioning voice.

"What about the anomaly that happened when you joined?"

Alan: "I have no idea what you are talking about."

"Then let's go and talk about your past. Tell me about your trauma. What happened to you?"

Alan: "I… I… ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

...….

Lieutenant Rock: "What is happening to him!!!?"

Gavin: "His vitals shot through the roof; his heart rate and blood pressure are high!!"

Lieutenant Rock: "Then stop it."

Gavin: "Stopping now could have a disastrous effect as the drug is still working."

The muscle all over the lieutenant's body tightened as he did not know what to do or how to intervene.
