Chapter 254: The prophecy of the Two Dark Moon...

Selene POV

Jared’s eyes widened first with surprise followed by amusement as he stared at me.

"Oh no!" he shook his head "That’s not what I meant, Selene. Of course, you’re a desirable woman with curves that can make any man go crazy... you know back when you were nearly mated to Xavier, we used to wonder where he had gone to pick up a prize like you ... anyways, I don’t like you sexually, I am talking about what you have inside of you?"

"What do I have inside of me?" I stared at him confused "The baby?"

He rolled his eyes frustration flickering in them "Of course not!" he sighed "That’s not what I mean. I mean you as a person, Selene... the things embedded inside of you is what I’m talking about,".

My heart pounded in my chest as I stared at him. So, all of this heist was because of what was inside me. Did he know I was an elemental wolf?

"Let me go, Jared," I demanded, my voice trembling despite my attempt to sound strong. "I don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re mistaken if you think I have any power. I’m just plain, Old Selene that’s all,".

Jared laughed as his eyes gleamed. His expression was a twisted mix of resentment and desperation. "You really have no idea do you?" he murmured, his voice dripping with scorn. "About the true power that flows through your veins,".

I stared back at him, confusion and wariness etched on my face. There was no big deal of me being an elemental wolf. "What are you talking about, Jared? I don’t have any special powers. I’m just...me,".

He let out another harsh laugh, the sound sending chills down my spine. "That’s where you’re wrong, Luna. You have more power than you could ever imagine and that’s exactly why I hate you so much,".

I sighed "I thought you just said you liked me just now and wanted me. Where is this coming from,".

"You still don’t understand, do you?" he sneered. "You think all those years as Xavier’s wife that you were just some ordinary werewolf? That your so-called ’healing’ him was nothing more than a fluke or wifely duty,".

My eyes widened, as confusion flickered across my face. "What are you talking about, Jared? Everyone knows that me and Sebastian have the fate of the two dark moons and it’s normal for the weakest one to feed the other. There’s nothing more to it and it’s not like I have powers because of that. We’re not even the first ones to have that fate. Besides, if I have power like you claim I do. Why haven’t I been able to use it to escape?" I challenged.

Jared’s gaze darkened, his lips curling into a menacing sneer. "Because you’ve been kept in the dark, Selene. All your life, you’ve been lied to, and manipulated by those around you. Do you think it was just a coincidence that Xavier always recovered faster than any other werewolf by just lying down next to you or being intimate? That he survived battles that should have killed him?"

I swallowed hard, my mind racing. What was he talking about? Did he know about my connection with nature?

"You were more than just his wife and mate, Selene Thorne," he said quietly. "You were his source of strength and his healer. You possess power that you’ve been too blind to see. Powers that preserved you from dying immediately after you left Sebastian... you should have dropped dead at the airport but you didn’t and for years, you stayed without your dark moon-fated mate. Doesn’t that sound odd?"

"No," I whispered shaking my head. "That’s not true. I’m just... I’m just a werewolf,".

Jared’s smile faded, replaced by a look of intense anger. "My mother was a witch," he began, his voice low and dangerous. "And my father, a werewolf. I’m a hybrid, Selene. Do you know what means?"

I stared at him; my breath caught in my throat. I had heard rumours of hybrids – creatures born of two worlds. Possess the strengths and weaknesses of both. But they were rare and rarely happened with witches but with humans.

"I spent years, cultivating my power, the ones I inherited or learnt from my mother," Jared continued, his eyes narrowing. "I had to claw my way to the top, to master spells, potions and the magic that I was born into while also battling with my wolf. And yet, here you are, blessed by the moon goddess herself with power you don’t even realize you have. You’re the greatest Moon priestess our world has ever seen. You might even be the last, so I heard,".

I could only stare at him, my mind reeling from the plenty of revelation. I don’t have power," I insisted. "I don’t even like the moon goddess; how can I be the greatest moon priestess ever born? If I did have power like you said, I would know. I would feel it. You’re lying,".

Jared’s eyes flashed with fury. It seems he was getting angrier by the minute. "Am I? You have no idea, do you? The moon goddess... she gave you a gift. I don’t know how it was possible seeing the kind of fate you have but you have wasted that gift, all these years. Your power could have changed the world and put the werewolves and other creatures behind us. But all you’ve ever done is hide behind your mate and your pack, never embracing what you truly are,". freeωebnovēl.c૦m

I felt anger rise within me, straining through my fear and confusion. "And what exactly am I, Jared? A monster like you?" I spat.

"Oh, Selene!" he clucked his tongue "You have no idea. I’m not the monster here. I’m the one trying to stop the real darkness from consuming us all,".

I shook my head, my brows furrowed in bewilderment. "What are you talking about? What darkness?"

Jared’s expression grew serious, as desperation passed through his features. "The prophecy, Selene. The prophecy of the ’Two Dark Moon".

My heart pounded harder, fear beginning to seep into my bones. "Why are you telling me this? What do you want from me? You know what...whatever it is... I don’t want to know but I’ll tell you this so we can get it over and done with. The moon priestess that nursed me back to health after the plane wreck six years ago told me that I am an elemental wolf that I have a special connection to nature and that’s about it,".

"That’s not just about it, Selene!" Jared laughed "You are connected to all Seven Elements of our world. The sun, moon, stars, water, earth, fire and wind. Do you know how insane that is?" Jared ran his hands through his hair "What you can do and undone with that power? Most people can only have one or two of it at most but you can control all 7 elements,".

I shivered with fright... I was beginning to get uncomfortable by how happy he seemed. So I decided to change the topic. "you were saying something about a prophecy a while back? What prophecy? What were you talking about?"

His expression darkened and his eyes glazed. "Don’t tell me you haven’t heard the prophecy behind the ’Fate of the Dark Moon?".

I stared at him. There was no prophecy... at least to the best of my knowledge. All I’ve heard was the fate itself and what followed afterwards, nothing more. I didn’t even know there was a prophecy.

"Judging by how quiet you are, I’m assuming you know nothing about it. Anyways... let me tell you. The Fate of the dark moon happened several years ago but it was caused by an ethereal being,".

"What?" I scoffed "Are you sure you know what you’re talking about? It was caused by the First Alpha – Alpha Kiba and his family as well as Gaia a powerful witch from back then,".

"No!" he shook his head. "Most werewolves were told only one side of the story to make the moon goddess seem perfect. I’ll tell you the truth now. ’The fate of the dark moon’ was sealed by a sin – a sin committed by the moon goddess herself. She slept with the King of the underworld Fenrir and their union birthed a child. The bottom line is, that their union disrupted the balance of the universe. Light and darkness have nothing in common,".

"What are you talking about?"

The children of Alpha Kiba and Gaia – were just pawns, victims of circumstances beyond their control. The day the secret child of the moon goddess was born, was the day that the fabric of our world was ripped away and hence, birth the ’Fate of the two dark moons’.

"That’s not true!" I shook my head. "gods could mate..".

"Of course, they can, I never said they cannot. They can but not with a god from a different realm. Not with the King of Death and the moon goddess? They’re destined not to soil their souls... because they’re made pure and clean for the universe itself,".
