It was the middle of the night when Tang Yin left her dorm room and soared down to the ponds. This was something she needed to do without Jiang. Her feet touching the water, she walked over it until she found one of the most remote small corners of the moon pavilion. Guarded by large towering mangrove-like trees and filled with lotus flowers.

A small pavilion, barely large enough for a single person to sit inside, was there, more like a wooden platform. It was overgrown by greenery, like a little forgotten corner. The only reason she had spotted it at all during their tour had been a coincidence when someone walked out of the greenery.

She had wondered where they had come from and asked Tang Yuehua what was there when she said it was one of the oldest and least frequently used parts of the Pavilion, used primarily among the most studious of her students when they wanted some private time studying.

Seldom did anyone go there, and during the night, it was an closed zone. However, since the Pavilion had only a few high-ranking guards, such places went largely unsupervised during the night. Barely anyone frequented them either way so it was perfect for her purposes right now. She walked to the platform before heading deeper, following the labyrinthine constructs as she wandered through them without a specific goal in mind.

In its lost, wanton state, it was more fascinating than the rest of the elegant place, but then she had always liked these places, drawn to them. Even at the university in Italy, where everyone and everything were always buzzing with students, some areas were barely visited and largely forgotten by the general public.

Whenever one wandered through the streets, one found them. Small private corners, on rooftops in hidden gardens and in small corners no one paid much attention to. That was why she loved old places and things with a bit of history; there were always tales hidden behind them and small stories to be discovered. She stopped and smiled when reading on the mangrove tree a childish.

M+Y with a heart around it.

A small love confession, from the weathered age of the carving, long forgotten by time. She wandered further until she found a tucked-away corner that appeared hidden enough. She settled down on the windowsill of the old building, checking to see if it was stable enough before taking a deep breath and focusing on the tasks at hand. She folded her legs, laying her arm on her lap and closing her eyes.

She seldom went into her own mental space, considered wyverns and the carp's private residence, as funny as it was, but standing there, she looked at the man who now stood in front of her, who had once been the millennium carp and now her spirit ring.

"I want to use my spirit bone ability." She said, and the carp blinked.

"Seeing the future, the far future is not always a good thing." He said, and she smiled bitterly.

"I need to kill someone. At least I want to know who." She said. "I know it's a mistake, but it is one I want to make. I want to see it, I want to know. I want to look at the person I will kill, right into their eyes, before I do so. For they will make me a murderer and their family grievers, if I could, I would do differently, and I will not stop searching for a way to do so, but still. I want to know."

"I will not stop you then." The man said, raising his hands. "But again it will only hurt you."

"I know. But it is a hurt I am willing to take."

"You are soft-hearted." He said with a sigh. "Be aware, it will eat at your spirit power until you flatline; there is no off button to it."

She said with a gentle smile. "It is a price I am willing to pay."

Then she opened her eyes and sent all her spirit power into her temple until a crown of silver and white jade appeared, covering the top part of her face. Silverblue and red sparkles rise around her, illuminating the dark of the night. Beneath the shadows, a prominent figure was standing, his gaze soft.

"You are making a mistake I wish I could stop you from." He muttered. "My heart." He turned away and soared to a roof. Settled down there and waited.

The silver rising from the water illuminates the entire small courtyard. The sheen twising and turning as a peek-a-glimpse into the future happened right there and then.
