Tang San's Twin Sister-Chapter 108
Tang Yin woke up wrapped in warm coziness.
A strange smell, almost medicinal, surrounded her. Her entire body was supposed to be a mass of screeching pain and muscle ache, yet she was comfortable, almost cozy. Prying open her eyes, she found herself in a wooden bath, completely naked except for her long glove, which was being soaked with her.
Ning Feng was in a similar state, not too far from her. Tang Yin moved her body cautiously. Nothing hurt, indeed. Carefully trying to rise, she stood inside the small bath and eyed her soaked glove.
"The Grandmaster said not to touch it," a village woman said, pouring hot water into Ning Feng's bath to maintain the temperature. "Or else we would have removed it."
"Oh," she said, her voice rough, barely a whisper. She climbed out of the bath and eyed a piece of paper with a note.
Do not worry—a few village women took off their clothes. When you wake up, come to the cafeteria. Written on it.
She waited until the village woman left and then walked over to her wardrobe, changing into a simple one-piece dress and removing her wet glove. The pale, cracked skin beneath became visible, so she carefully made a fist and rereleased it. Her hand reacted, and she breathed a sigh of relief. Then she took out another glove, this one less thin, made of comfortable velvet, and slipped her arm into it before standing up and leaving behind the still sleeping Ning Feng, her stomach rumbling.
She walked through a star-filled night, the sky dark as she looked upwards with a faint smile, enjoying the cool air stroking her skin. When she walked into the cafeteria, Dai Mubai was already eating.
"Come sit down, the food tastes pretty damn good," he said. He was the only one awake. Their superior spirit power was why they were already awake and had risen.
She settled next to him and ate; as Dai Mubai had said, the food was pretty damn good. It was excellent. She eyed the small slip of paper next to her plate.
When you are done eating, wash the dishes and dump the water into the baths inside your dormitory. Cultivate, do not sleep, and meet early for class.
She groaned and then continued to eat, cursing the Grandmaster internally.
"Grandmaster said you were free to sleep," Dai Mubai said beside her. "No need to cultivate for raising your spirit power. May I know why? I mean, you did know each other from way before, and it appears weird to me."
She looked at him for a moment, silence stretching between them.
"Because my body has difficulty handling my amount of spirit power," she answered him, omitting how deep the problem went while telling him the truth.
"Oh... never heard of that before, but then I guess it makes sense. I have never met a twelve-year-old at your level before, either. Must be rather frustrating on occasion to be lagging just because the body can't keep up," he said, and she shrugged her shoulders.
"It is," she said, and once again didn't add the, "and you probably can't imagine how frustrating sometimes."
The door opened again, and Tang San walked in. Greeting the two of them before settling down next to Tang Yin. Eating, she leaned her head against his shoulder, seeking the comfort of his presence.
"I am starving. Where is the food?" someone said as Xiao Wu walked in with long strides and aimed straight for the food before settling next to Tang San. Reading the paper, she signed Tang San to meet her outside later.
The next one to walk in was Zhuqing, not Oscar, the only other person already past level thirty. Zhu Zhuqing tried to stiffen her face, but it was visible there was no longer any rejection of Dai Mubai's presence.
She also settled at the table and, like Xiao Wu, did not slow down while eating, the food vanishing at an astonishing speed.
"So comfy," Xiao Wu leaned against Tang San as well. "Little San, did you run the last two laps?" She asked him, and he laughed bitterly, shaking his head.
"No. After you fainted, Dai Mubai, and I also fainted. When I woke up, I was already in the medicinal bath," he said, and Xiao Wu hummed with closed eyes.
"Oscar and the others haven't woken up, probably still too weary..." Right at that moment, Ning Feng walked in and settled down. Dai Mubai quieted.
"Y-You can go ahead," Ning Feng said. "I-I will finish in patience. W- Who will know what the G-grandmaster is planning for tomorrow?"
Dai Mubai nodded and stood up, taking his dishes to wash them. He was followed closely by the Tang twins and Zhu Zhuqing when Xiao Wu took out the dishes from Tang San's hands. "You go ahead. Dishes aren't something you boys should do. Leave it to us."
Zhu Zhuqing nodded and took over Dai Mubai's dishes. Then Tang San shook his head with a faint smile.
"I don't mind," he said, walking up to the dishes, with Dai Mubai following him, taking over those from Zhu Zhuqing. Taking a stool and positioning themselves in the kitchen, they shared the work of doing the dishes, washing, and drying.
They were soon joined by Ning Feng, who joined in. Once finished, they all headed back to their dormitories and into their baths.
Only Tang Yin was left. She opted to take a small walk before heading to bed. Her feet rhythmically touched the ground as she soaked in the silence and the peace around her while walking through the moonlit village. The silver it cast upon the surroundings enough to see where she was going. She stopped when a slight breeze made the leaves rustle.
Yin turned around, half expecting company.
"Jiang?" she asked, and there was no reaction. "Huh, I must be having illusions, " she noted silently and then turned to walk back to the village. She stopped in her tracks when she saw the peaceful small village in front of her. The few lights of their academy were visible, but it was an utterly peaceful place.
"This reminds me of Way back when we were still at Spirit Saint Village, " she muttered. "Maybe I should pass by and see how the elder and Teacher Li are doing?"
She ran her way back, heading past the few villagers awake, and then jumped into her bed. Feeling nervous, she rolled around, unable to feel completely at ease staring out of the window and gazing at the moon.
Reaching out her hand, she captured the distant moon within it, put on a light, and took her diary from the nightstand. Flipping through it back to where they had last been at Spirit Saint village.
An unfamiliar face looked at her. She stroked over it and then saw, in small letters, Teacher Li written next to it.
